"Good location, bad hotel"
I stayed here for a week with my mother while I attended a conference at the conference centre across the street. The location is fantastic: across the street from the tram and the metro, very easy to get into the city. There is a little supermarket up the street which we went to quite a few times during our stay and the area is fairly quiet. There are two "hop on, hop off" bus tours with stops across the street as well. The breakfast, which was included in our room rate was lovely and we ate plenty every morning before going about our day. The room itself was a little small, but nicely appointed. The issues however, started on the first day. Our room smelled of sewage, the smell which was obviously coming from the toilet. We opened our window as much as we could, but we did need to put our air conditioning unit on as well. That was another issue. The unit sounded as if a small aircraft was taking flight in the room. When we called the front desk and someone was sent (finally) they could not fix the issue the air conditioner. We were told that we could not change rooms as the hotel was full. After my colleague complained (she came in and was disgusted with the smell) we were told to pack and taken to another room. Unfortunately, the other room had a completely broken toilet (the lever to flush the toilet was actually INSIDE the toilet bowl). At this point, we called the front desk again and were left for 45 minutes before going down and then being brought to our ORIGINAL smelly room and then having the door slammed on us and being left without a key, which you need to turn on lights and air conditioning. One of us called down and one of us went and they did not care. We never had anyone apologize or anything. I wouldn't have cared too much if it was just me but my mother is older and I brought her with me after she lost her husband to cheer her up a little. I wish I had brought to a nicer hotel. It is definitely a 2-3 star NOT a 4 star. Would not stay here again.
"Had potential.... however.."
We stayed in a 3 bedroom with a sea view. Hotel was very clean and looked modern. Staff were very friendly and very helpful. The room was big and spacious. The view of the sea was lovely however we were surrounded by empty derelict buildings and construction which was disappointing. The shower was very nice in the bathroom woth big shower head however something was very strange. There is a partition blind between the room and the bathroom and whoever is in the bathroom can see the person on the room but not vice versa. However this was not the case and you felt you had no privacy in the bathroom. I still don't understand the need for the blind as it didn't work. The spa facilities were top class especially the jazzuzi beds which were very relaxing. However the outdoor pool was closed when we arrived a d this was very disappointing as we were not informed before hand. Also a hotel woth a pool was main reason we choose this particular hotel. Other small negatives were; ice machine did not work, air con seemed very weak, very quiet area, bar very expensive as well as restaurant and location out a bit far. Positive notes were; Close to beach and sea, tram and metro only 5mins walk away, big modern shopping centre close by, hotel good value and very clean and friendly. Peter Stayed March 2017.
"Business on Sunday leisure on Monday"
Hotel has more business orientation than touristic, however I could combine both. Around 30-40 minutes by taxi from the airport (35.-€). Convenient location by the sea shore at the very beginning (point zero) of Ave. Diagonal crossing Barcelona. Nice and quick check in (booking made through popular internet portal), there was no prepayment request nor blocking guarantee on cc. Room clean, more business oriented, microwave, tea pot, iron and other standard amenities available. Lots of electric sockets - no problem to connect few mobiles and laptops. Decent breakfast. Small restaurant serving dinner - not a big choice but rather tasty dishes. Small rooftop swimming pool with few deck chairs around - good place to relax. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Just cross the street one may find a shopping mall with food court. Bus and tram stop just round the corner. I made a walk to Sagrada Familia church, it took 45 minutes. Overall the hotel is a good option to stay in Barcelona both for business travelers and tourists, a little overpriced, but it's Barcelona after all.
"Would normally be brilliant "
Positives- -Tram stop literally right outside makes it very easy to get around -Very helpful friendly staff, we were able to check it early -Very well done hotel, modern decor -Huge room -Comfortable bed -Powerful shower -10 minute walk from a beach -1 minute walk to big shopping mall -Very big and well equipped gym -Luggage storage -Very good breakfast Negatives- -We booked the hotel specifically because it had a pool, only to find once we were at the pool side that it was closed (we were shouted at by a maintenance man). Whilst I appreciate pools need maintenance every now and then we would have appreciated being told this would be the case, as we paid for a hotel with a pool. -Shower was either very hot or very cold, not unusual in hotels though haha -If I'm being very fussy the ice machine didn't work on our floor-not exactly a huge issue This hotel would normally be perfect for a few nights in the city, although I do feel we were let down by the pool situation, but as this wouldn't normally be a problem I would recommend this hotel :-)
"Short Break in Barcelona"
We stayed in a triple room here for 3 nights with our two-year old daughter and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is in a great location, with public transportation within walking distance. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful when asked for advice. Although we did not have a great view, the rooms were exceptionally clean and comfortable. As some have stated, the bar was a bit expensive but there are other options in the vicinity.
