"NICE HOTEL ......BUT!"
This is a nice hotel in a great location but is NOT a five star hotel. We spent five nights there a week ago. Our room was on the eleventh floor but the room was dreadfully small. No sitting area, no proper writing desk a tiny wardrobe that hardly took any clothes and nowhere to put your suitcases. It had one small window that overlooked a railway station. To be honest it was a thoroughly depressing room. If you were just staying overnight it would be just about okay but not for longer. Breakfast in the restaurant I would describe as adequate as was the food in the coffee shop. We did not dine in the main restaurant. On a more positive note the staff were very pleasant and helpful.
"Nice reception area, check-in check out service, small rooms and dissapointing breakfast service"
First of all I found the rooms very small though well organised and containing the necessary amenities, but much smaller than high end boutique hotels charging the same price. The reception service and concierge were impeccable but the real problem was breakfast, not the food, which was very good but the service. Every single day I was facing a borderline aggressive and rude service, I had to ask several times and repeat my order again and again, it seemed like a completely different crew from the rest of the hotel, frankly I felt that the people serving did not have any hospitality training. I have to lower the score of the service because of breakfast, otherwise reception and room service were impeccable.
"Lovely home away from home"
This is a beautiful hotel in a lovely residential area of Buenos Aires. The lobby is light-filled, the room we had was spacious and clean. The staff was very helpful. Be aware they warned us not to wear expensive watches outside the hotel and two men who we knew about did indeed have their watches stolen off their wrists during the weekend we were there.
"Good, safe and pleasant hotel"
Sofitel are a relatively safe pair of hands in terms of hospitality and this hotel is not exception. There is a high, light reception hall with a large comfortable bar just off it, plus restaurant. The staff are helpful with an exceptional command of English. Our room was on the 2nd floor - we'd preferred to be higher as the 'view' was non existent - but it was on the corner and very quiet. The décor was blandly corporate, all beiges and browns, but with some nice prints, even in the bathroom. Very comfortable bed - welcome after a long flights. The bathroom was a good size with both a rainhead shower and bath. We dined one night in Le Sud restaurant and though the cooking was to a high standard it was not cheap e.g. our meal of one main each and one desert + wine was over £100. Breakfast in the same restaurant was excellent with a wide choice of hot and cold dishes
"classy place in nice neighborhood"
Nice lobby and common areas. We were put in a junior suite which was very commodious. Pretty, clean, comfortable and windows opened for fresh air. Nice neighborhood. Good restaurants in easy walking distance. (Try the restaurant hidden in the basement of the flower shop across the street.) Had just stayed in the Intercontinental Hotel a couple km south, and the Sofitel neighborhood was nicer for strolling and eating out. Both were nice hotels, but Sofitel a bit more upscale.
