Booked with a third party. When I booked with third party there was no mention of a "resort" fee. I even called the 3rd party I booked with and they stated this is not a resort so they will not charge a resort fee. When I checked into the hotel they asked for a credit card which is standard in case someone is to damage the room. Nobody ever mentioned there was a resort fee. Upon check out nobody mentioned there would be a resort fee. Sure enough I check my credit card statement and there it is. Not sure what the resort fee possibly could be for' For the free lemon water and cheap coffee they put out in the morning' What a joke. If you need to stay in Gaslamp, just stick with The Omni. Much nicer property and pool. They also don't have tacky 7 dollar water bottles in the room and will not nickle and dime you for some free water downstairs.
"A great start to our holiday"
Very comfortable Hotel.Very convenient for touring San Diego.large bedrooms with over comfortable beds.We would suggest a tram ride around San Diego to find your bearings. Then you can hop on and off where you fancy
Comfortable bed, good room service, great location. Service was meh - I didn't get the feeling that guests are welcome or catered to. It's a perfectly adequate hotel but it feels like it's lacking a soul. Food for business meetings is excellent.
We stayed here just for a night. Very nice hotel! The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and spacious. The hotel put on a happy hour in the lobby with free beer and wine and appetizers. The charge for parking is pricey at the hotel, but then most of downtown San Diego is. Would stay here again!
"Great hotel, great location"
When you stay at a Kimpton you expect a unique environment, great service, and great location. They definitely didn't disappoint. The valet when we arrived was really helpful, and when I asked about self-parking was able to direct me to a lot about a block away that was 1/3 the price. That was really nice of him and saved us about $30 (valet parking in downtown San Diego will run you about $50.) The person at the front desk checked us in quick and gave us an AWESOME upgrade because it was late and they had a suite left that was being unused. So we ended up staying in this beautiful, huge, suite with its own private, gated patio next to the pool. I only wished we could have stayed longer.
