"Incredible staff's attention and services."
We spent here two nights and we were absolutely delighted with the staff's attentions. From the very welcoming arrival to the big effort they performed in order to satisfy our needs of having breakfast very early (much before the breakfast service opening) the day we left. They prepared for us a really nice continental breakfast, this was really appreciated. The room was not the best room we have ever seen, but it was very clean and spacious enough. The bathroom was spotless and elegant. We also enjoyed a nice dinner at the hotel's restaurant with a friend, everything tasted good. And once again, the attention was marvellous. Overall, the quality of the rooms and the hotel itself is a bit superior than the average, but what really enhances the quality is the friendly and professional staff. It is a very fair price, considering the quality, assitance, services and location. We would definitely come back here if we visit again Barcelona.
"An excellent budget alternative for a very nice Hotel"
The experience at the hotel was excellent. It is small for American Standards, but it is well decorated, full of charm and very comfortable. The staff is very friendly and make you feel comfortable at once. The Hotel is well located, outside of the noisy and crowded areas, but within walking distance from the Ramblas distric. I highly recommend this hotel for the budget minded people.
"Average stay in a budget-friendly hotel, bathroom not so private though"
We booked our stay at Villa Emilia on our second visit to Barcelona, September 2016. We stayed there for a week and this accommodation decision was based on a bunch of reviews from other travellers. My overall rating for Villa Emilia is that it is a very average property with an average accommodation experience, here's why. Location: On the property's website it says "in the heart of Barcelona" - Quite frankly, it really isn't. There's pretty much nothing to do around Villa Emilia. Nothing within walking distance at least. You'll need to take the metro from Rocafort station (which is only a 2-minute walk from the hotel) to get to other key locations like Passeig de Gracia, Barceloneta, La Rambla, et cetera. Aside from that, the restaurants and cafes around the hotel are not the best food options in Barcelona and do not qualify as quality street food either. Staff: We haven't seen anything bad from Villa Emilia's staff members. In fact, we haven't seen anything at all. Perhaps the hotel's policy is to respect guests' privacy unless they ask for assistance but otherwise not try and approach them at all' Perhaps. Restaurants: I haven't tried any of their restaurants as we wanted to experience the local Catalan cuisine more, so we opt'd out for dining outside the hotel. However, the rooftop terrace is absolutely gorgeous and has light music playing during the evening. Complimentary drinks are offered to guests throughout the day at the terrace as well. If you plan on dining there, you'll need to make a reservation as many people who are not staying at the hotel do visit Villa Emilia's rooftop terrace. View: We stayed at room 68 which faces the main street on which the hotel is located - Carrer de Calàbria. The view is alright, but there was nothing special about it. The room had ceiling-to-floor windows though, which I always like. Room: The rooms were perfectly cleaned every single day and in complete discretion. They were fully equipped with everything that we needed throughout our stay. Our only concern was the lack of privacy in the bathroom - the bathroom door wouldn't fully slide over and somehow, if someone was sitting on the toilet the other person could see them from outside even if the sliding bathroom door was fully shut. This was kind of disturbing. I mean, who would want their partner to see them while they make their "business"' Neighbourhood: Quiet, but nothing special about it. Very few restaurant options as well (Except for 2 places: Escriba and The Fish & Chips Shop; both within a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Both REALLY good). Style: Modern, budget friendly. If you're looking for a classic Catalan-style property to stay in, that's not it. However, Villa Emilia is good enough if you won't be spending much time at the hotel.
"Second Stay "
This is a very nice hotel. 1. The location is out of the way of the tourist areas/compared to staying on and around the Ramblas. It's about 20 minutes to walk to the Ramblas, however you can take the train which is very close to the hotel. We like it because it feels much more local. 2. This is THE best breakfast we have ever had in a European hotel. The quality of everything is so amazing. They even offer complimentary red wine as well as cava so you can start your day off with a bit of a kick if you like. SO worth it, if you stay here, you must get the breakfast. 3. Rooms are nice, decent size, decent bathrooms, quiet rooms, there is a beautiful scent throughout the hotel. 4. The lounge was one of our favourite places to go on our last trip. This time, we had a very bad experience. My purse was stolen off the back of my chair along with another man who had his bag stolen off a chair. There was a lot of chaos, and the whole experience was very bad including a lack of much sympathy from one of the bar staff (short haired blonde girl with an accent). I was told that usually there is a sign on the bar saying protect your valuables... Having said that, the next day, the manager talked to us, apologized (obviously its not their fault and I understand that - my purse is my responsibility), and they took care of our drinks from the night before as well as gave us a complimentary drink the next day. There was also another girl behind the bar with long dark hair who was very apologetic. All this to say, it did taint my thoughts on the hotel a bit, but it is a good lesson in watching your things when you travel especially in Barcelona.
