"Villa Odino Hotel"
The room was a little small but not too bad for a 2 night stay. The room we had was pleasant and had a nice view. One window actually was internal with a great view of the lift! There were better rooms available for an extra £20 ish - wish I had upgraded now. The double bed turned out to be two single beds pushed together. The hotel is a train ride away from central Venice-they do provide a shuttle service at 6 Euro per person return (to and from the station) but for 2 people that's 12 euro per day plus train fare - for that extra 30 euro per day you'd be better off putting that money towards a hotel in central Venice. The hotel is also quite remote so once you are in that's your lot! There are no bars/restaurants etc close by within walking distance. Breakfast was fantastic-lots of choice and a great selection of Italian pastries/biscuits/cakes every morning. Only minor complaint about breakfast was only 2 teapots available with no lids' Where did the lids go' The staff were very pleasant. Overall I don't think I would stay there again - there were hotels close to the station that were a similar price when you add in the 12 Euro for the shuttle service. Don't think I'd like to stay in central Venice as it's quite busy but if you don't mind the shuttle service inconveniences and lack of local bars etc then it's a very good hotel to stay in.
"Great Place to Stay near Venice"
We loved this hotel. It is family owned and operated. Free Wifi, wonderful breakfast, spacious clean rooms, shuttle service to train station. We stayed 4 nights before or cruise. Just a few minutes shuttle to the train station for a small fee. You can prearrange the time of pick up from the train station or call the hotel when you're ready to be picked up. We booked on Hotels.com for $64/night and considered it a steal after staying there. Prior to our trip, I emailed the hotel and asked them to arrange for a car to pick us up at the airport and also to take us to the cruise port. The restaurant is very good.
"Family run and you feel it"
This is by no means a mass produced Hilton esc hotel and it should not be. This is in its own rights a great four star hotel tucked away in a small village (Quatro D Altino) with a fresh feal in the air ever day as you are surrounded by nature and a lovely river offset behind the hotel. The quad family room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable with all mod cons. It has a safe mini bar and massive selection on TV in every known language (but why even turn it on'). The room is cleaned daily and it's frankly immaculate clean as is the hotel. Breakfast is set aside in the small dainty breakfast area at the rear with a great selection on offer. You won't go hungry. Ask for cappuccino or cafe if you like something else other than the americano on offer. Staff will always try to please (even my young ones) when they asked for a warm boiled egg they would accommodate. Stay one night for dinner. It is fab. Good value and very good homely feal. The hotel also has a fish restaurant further down ask for a reservation. Reception staff are all well informed both of local attractions, connection to public transport and local towns and cities. Ask for recommendations for family and they will be able to help. Trains from here go direct to Venice as quick as 25 minutes from Quatro D Altino station. Tickets cost c3 euro one way adult and c1.75 child. The hotel will also take you there for c3 euro round trip per adult and c3 euro two children shuttle service. Due to its location I highly recommend you plan a visit to Treviso north of the town. It is 20 minute by bus at a cost of 22euro for a family of 4 roundtrip but an amazing city lots to see and places to eat etc and you will avoid the chaos of Venice. Padova and Verona are also easily accessible from this town. A short stop down to Mestre station and switch over onto the fast train to either town (Padova is 15 mins Verona 58 mins) and you are again visiting two major northern cities of Italy. If you really feal adventurous Milan is 2.5 hours away. Cost to Verona family of four booked two days prior to get the kids free was 100 Euro fast train return same day. Enough to see all the.major sites and eat drink and chill....just do it! Remember when ordering a coffee milky one ask for cafe latte or latte machiatto because if you ask for latte you get hot milk! So many tourists did this (I think because in the UK it's accepted that latte means coffee when in fact it means milk in Italian). The hotel is always a great place to come back to relax and unwind. Soaps and towels always ready ;) If you want half a day rest ask for the bicycles (no cost) yes they have one for children and go round the village have a coffee at the local cafe and even try the local pizza restaurant. There is not much to do in the town but it still helps to have what ever you need here and the kids just like the fact that you can have a hot chocolate or even an ice cream from the Gellato store. To top it off the kids wrote post cards and the staff posted them for us as the post office was closed. We are still waiting to hear if they have arrived as we only just got back! Grazie famiglia
"National Train Strikes means they refuse to send the Shuttle"
It may have been nice to stay there, however, with a national train strike, I watched my trains being cancelled. When I finally got as close to venice as I could, I called but was told "they would not send a shuttle" and "to find my own way there." Horrible customer service. I was frazzled from the train strike and then to drag my suitcase to try to find a taxi....and NOT a water taxi either so virtually impossible. I did speak to a taxi driver and he said between $100 -$150 Euro when a shuttle would be $3E. I had to give up my hotel room as there was no way to get there and they were certainly not going out of their way to assist me. I then called Expedia to explain - still no refund. I was told it was "my fault." NEVER EVER AGAIN!
Lovely contemporary hotel in a traditional building. Quiet country setting. Great base for Venice and the Dolomites. Staff excellent very helpful with good command of English. Nothing any trouble to them. Rooms are clean and comfortable with daily service. Excellent location with free bikes available to ride along the riverside. Train station with very good service to Venice 15 minutes walk away. River trips to Venice islands can be arranged through reception and are good value. On site restaurant with lovely food. Snacks available and a bar. Not too far from Venice Marco Polo and hotel will arrange a private car for transfer for 35 Euro. Great range of food and drink at breakfast time. We'll be returning one day!
