"Fantastic location and really just a simple, well run, quality hotel."
I really enjoyed my time here. I was looking for something close to the convention center and there isn't much closer than this. A really cool boutique hotel. There is a great bar/restaurant inside, the rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful and kind. Will definitely go again.
"Overall rating excellent"
All staff were welcoming friendly and helpful. Location was brilliant right close to shops and restaurants, and Bart, Muni and buses/cable car. Straight from airport for $8.95pp.Amenities were excellent, even an umbrella to use in the closet. We requested room with disability facilities, and it had sufficient room to move wheelchair around. Very good layout of bathroom facilities; especially well designed shower. Excellent soundproofing with double glazing and block out curtains facilitated a restful night.
"3 People- 1 Bed'"
We got to the hotel mid-evening and were pretty tired and ready to go to bed (we had flight delays, worked all day,...). We were the only ones checking in; so check-in went pretty quick. We got our room keys and headed up to the room. We had booked a double room since our adult daughter was traveling with us. We got to the room with all our luggage and saw that there was only one bed. Ummm, no- not gonna work. So, we got our stuff, got back in the elevator and headed back to the check-in to exchange rooms. As soon as they saw us, they knew immediately why we were back. They explained that since we booked through a third party (expedia) that "they overbook rooms" so they actually only had King size beds available, but that they would send up a roll away and give us 3 vouchers for breakfast. My daughter said the roll away actually wasn't too bad. It just would've been nice to know before going up to our room that there was an issue. And the breakfast of okay muffins and bananas wasn't exactly what we were wanting in San Francisco. Would of much rather had an price cut in the room or free valet ($50). All that said, the room was comfortable and clean and we all slept well. So- not a terrible experience, just a bit of a disappointment.
"Appalled with Fradulent Charges"
I always like to give a place a fair chance. But my issue with this hotel has never been resolved & I am an honest person. I am sad to write this review as I spent a fortune at this hotel. Where do I start' Check- in took over 45 minutes. The front desk could not find my booking which I found odd and was one reason I booked a luxury hotel. I came from across the country & was so exhausted as I had been flying all day. I came for a business conference & wanted to get my peaceful rest. Great location next to Moscone. The young man at reception said we needed to call the booking agency and he handed phone over front desk which I found so humiliating & embarrassing. Really' Are you guys 4 star' He was polite, but I was made to feel like I was somehow lying about my booking. Guests were going in & out for dinner. I was starving too and wanted to just check- in with no drama. I was putting my head down in shame as I was hoping I wouldn't see any colleagues. Finally, I checked in after about an hour. Sorry even budget hotels don't take that long. I felt like a hostage at the front desk. Anyhow, the room was pretty nice & quiet as I believe the receptionist understood I had dealt with enough drama. However, the big issue is I was charged for another night of staying which I certainly did not as Hotel Zelos stated they had no vacancy. I have spoken to my credit card company as well as the hotel's accounting department. No one wants to resolve these Fradulent charges. So if you have extra money to waste in the neighborhood of $500 per night stay at this hotel. I have travelled all over the world & can't believe this happened in my homeland of the United States. If we were third world maybe I would not have been so shocked. Also a 4 star hotel!! I have such a negative perception of the business ethics of this hotel & San Francisco as a whole!! I am saddened greatly that people don't want to make money in an honest way. I don't mind to pay for nights I stayed. But don't charge me when I have to go to another hotel because you don't have vacancy. Also, I was very stressed having to find another hotel with no assistance from Hotel Zelos!! Hotel Zelos needs to have better training of staff and ethics!! I probably have wasted my time writing this review, but hopefully another guest will not experience what I did. Monitor your charges and be aware of fraud! My $500 is gone with the wind! What comes around goes around! Hope you have enjoyed spending my money for a service you never provided.
"Great location, but not great value"
I booked a last-minute trip for a long weekend in this hotel after comparing many options online. I chose this hotel because of its location and, frankly, hip style -- although it was not the best price from the options I was comparing. We arrived very late at night and the check in process was fast and efficient, but not very friendly. I asked for a quiet room and the staff member said, simply, "you're on the top floor." Anyway, the room was fine (and quiet), very clean and comfortable. The toiletries were great. We had breakfast in the hotel's restaurant the next morning (called Dirty Habit). The waiter was very unfriendly and cold. The food was average but pricey, and the AC was blasting. The restaurant is decorated in dark colors and has no windows, so you feel like you're inside a nightclub -- which is great for evening cocktails, but not quite the right vibe for breakfast. Everything was literally and figuratively cold. At some point during our stay, we needed a meeting room, and when we asked the front desk for help, the person there said he was too junior to help us and that we should try to find a manager at some other time and see if they could help instead. For a hotel at this price bracket, that's hardly the answer you want. Again, this was a great location and a nice hotel, but for that price and treatment, I won't be coming back.
