"Surprisingly Quiet Stay on Market Street"
It probably helped that I splurged on a "round room" in the turret of the hotel, but I can't believe how well I slept. The room has 6-8 windows overlooking Market Street and 4th, yielding amazing city views. There must be $10,000 worth of drapery in this room, and coupled with the double glazing, it was as quiet a tomb. The room was huge and included a well stocked minibar and dressing room mirror. Some of the furnishings are scratched and tired, and there are signs of deferred maintenance. The hotel was previously a Kimpton property, so it will be interesting to see what the new owners ultimately do. There is a very nicely equipped gym which even includes a spinning bike, so it met my needs. The on property bar and restaurant is a poser's paradise, drawing in many of the local 20-somethings for overpriced drinks and precious appetizers. Maybe I am just a cranky old dude, but I would skip it in favor of Super Duper Burger or Split Bread down the street. If you can spare $50.00 per day, the on site parking is well worth it. The valets are super accommodating and really make it fun to have a car in SF. Overall the staff at the hotel are great.
"Well-located modernized hotel"
Clean, comfortable, reasonably large room. Luxurious dressing gown and bathroom products. Free wi-fi, adequately fast. I appreciated the umbrella in the wardrobe in case of need, which you could purchase if you chose to. Reception staff and concierge were pleasant and helpful. Free morning coffee in the lobby meant I didn't need to use the in-room coffee maker. The bar and restaurant downstairs looked very funky. Shame the noise from a function there did go on quite late one night. Only a block from the Westfield Centre, or Yerba Buena Gardens.
"Stylish hotel in SF"
Nice stay at Hotel Zelos. Very comfortable room; large, well appointed and stylish. Bed was very comfortable and nice bathroom amenities. Good location, convenient to Moscone and financial district offices.
This is my second stay here; the first several years ago when it was the Palomar. From the cleanliness of the room, the amenities in the bathroom (Molton Brown), mini bar and free wifi (basic) you can't ask for anything else. There is no coffee maker in the room, however, you can request to have one at no additional charge. There is free coffee and tea in the lobby for those who can't wait to get to Starbucks or a restaurant. I would have given five stars if it weren't for the beds. We had a double room and they were literally double beds. It may have stated that on the website, if so, that is my oversight. Our daughter didn't have issues with her bed, but the bed my husband and I had sagged in the middle and was extremely squeaky. A friend we were traveling with didn't have any bed issues, so our bed may have been an anomaly. The heating/cooling is central and very quiet. The control is easy to read and to program. Despite having a BART and MUNI station nearby, we opted to take a taxi to AT&T Park. The fare was about $10 each way for four people. Overnight parking is $50 as of this writing. Parking and retrieval of our vehicle was very fast and efficient. There is an on site restaurant and bar. We only had breakfast there. There is a limited menu, but enough to appeal to a wide range of appetites. We were not traveling with any pets, but this appears to be a pet-friendly hotel as we saw others with small dogs. This hotel will remain on my list of accommodations when I visit the City.
"Great location, beautiful room, helpful staff"
Hotel is in a great location for access to BART, Moscone Center, Union Square, Powell Street, etc. Busy corner at 4th and Market, but the rooms are pretty well sound-proofed so it wasn't a problem. Rooms are nicely appointed and very comfortable. We definitely recommend breakfast at Dirty Habit (the hotel restaurant/bar). Staff were efficient and helpful. It's also a very pleasant (level) one mile walk down to the Ferry Building at the end of Market Street.
