Weekend trip to Chicago was great. Modern hotel that was very clean. Rooms are clean and modern too. Staff is friendly and helpful. The location is great, too. I would stay here again. The rates were competitive.
"Good location, questionable rooms"
Property is nice enough. It can't seem to figure out if they offer a restaurant, or a lounge, or both. Or, do they fail at all of those' You'll have to decide in-person. I had a two room suite (bedroom + living room). The living room was literally darker than a cave, offers no windows, and very poor lamp lighting. It would be more suited for holding a wake or viewing than sitting in. You'll be depressed in a matter of minutes sitting in that room. Furnishings in the room are nice enough. Location is good for Magnificent Mile visitors. One last nugget of info, it seems that they send the housekeeping staff home at 4 PM or so, and don't have the ability to refresh or service a room after that. Hard to believe it's a full service Hyatt property.

"Done with the this hotel. Service is challenging."
I’ve stayed here several times, but after this 3-night visit, I’m not returning. It’s always a struggle to receive the larger Executive King Suite (EKS) and given the time and effort to accomplish that goal, it’s too exhausting and not worth it. I should have checked out after the first night, but I eventually stayed the entire 3 nights. My mistake and I take full responsibility for that lapse in judgement. Based on the price and the quality of the service, that was money down the drain. Oh well… Live and learn. As I pointed out in a previous review of this hotel, be advised that the Executive King Suites (EKS) differ greatly in size. The implied feedback from hotel management is that it’s perfectly acceptable to charge the same amount for two rooms with vastly different square footage. Believe me, the difference in room size is quite dramatic in regards to the EKS. In my conversation with the Director of Rooms, he could not provide the actual difference in square footage between the two EKS. And, I’m also leery of hotels which have different room sizes (for the exact same type of room) with exactly the same amenities, but no difference in cost. I call that being disrespectful to the consumer. Or bait and switch since the website does not indicate the EKS differ in sizes, but the price is the same. The EKS located directly behind the elevators are large and spacious and I’ve had the 11th floor EKS on a number of visits. As you go higher in the hotel, the EKSs are half the size, but you pay the same as for the larger EKS. This visit I was banished to a 16th floor EKS at $450/night. There was no way I was staying in a room half the size of my previous (11th floor) EKS at that rate. Upon check-in, I had a conversation with Umberto and his manager, Kawana (who provided the incorrect email address for the Director of Rooms, but I found it, nonetheless). They were both pleasant, but unhelpful. Though, they both looked at me as if I were from Mars when I told them that the higher floor EKSs were smaller in size than the lower floor EKSs. But (without any proof), I suspect they knew this when I made the statement so those incredulous looks were baffling if not condescending. I sent an email to the GM, the Front Desk manager, and the Director of Rooms. I was contacted by Serena the following morning and, subsequently, by Adam. I was moved to the larger EKS, but I dislike moving rooms – it’s a hassle. And because the whole situation left a bad taste in my mouth, I’m done with this place. Furniture: The living room furniture is awful. I had visitors come to my room, but because the sofa-sleeper is so uncomfortable, we didn’t stay. There’s no support; the material is hard; and the padding is thin. Bargain basement hotel furniture. The bed was comfortable and I like the lighting in the bedroom. The location of the hotel is great, but service is severely lacking. Again, as in previous visits, valet parking is molasses s-lo-w. Oh, well. It’s time to find another hotel in the area as this was my last visit to the Hyatt Magnificent Mile. Too much work to get the larger EKS; and having to deal with unhelpful individuals is stressful and exhausting when you travel. Not worth it. And please, Hyatt Magnificent Mile, no need to follow-up with how disappointed you are, blah, blah, blah, etc., etc. I don’t need to reach out to anyone or have a follow-up discussion. It’s over. I’ve moved on.
