"Returning guest to the Hyatt on the Bund"
Neil and his team are so welcoming that it makes changing hotels extremely difficult! The rooms are clean and quiet with the added benefits of access to the lounge it makes a business trip very easy. We ate at the Xindalu Chinese restaurant on the ground floor, food was excellent with a good choice of wines. Looking forward to going back.
"Good location and great views"
We stayed here during a family visit in April 2017. The hotel is modern and personnel speaks English. We got a room high up (nr. 2208 and had a great view onto the bay and bund. As I understood rooms that end in 12/10 have also water views but the neighboring building is a bit in the way. Starting from 08 its a perfect view). And ideally higher up of course. Rooms are spacious and have large windows, bathrooms are somewhat open with sink in the general room and toilet and shower/bathtub separated by non-see through glass doors. Slippers and bathrobes are provided, toiletries are good quality, loofa sponge also provided. Breakfast is internationally influenced, but also has the chinese classics (warm soup, dumplings, congee, etc., but also cheeses and cold cuts, bread, cake, fruit, and they have their own home made yoghurt. Fresh fruit juices. They also have a rooftop bar (VUE Bar) as a resident you have free entrance, otherwise you pay and get a drink voucher. As a resident you can basically go up and just have a look on the nice view without buying anything. Cocktails are not bad there but nothing really special. Location is good, you cross the famous bridge (from the 1920ies I think) and you are on the Bund. A/C is centralized so we couldn't make the room as cold as we like as they also told us its a centralized system and you cannot change it.
"They need to re-assess those stars!!!"
Going into a Hyatt you would expect employees to pay attention to detail and be english-speaking. Well, not in this one!! The breakfast area is a disaster if you are not into Oriental b/fast. They were probably thinking about your diet... They actually make the Starbucks across the side street look really good in comparison!! The gym is well equipped but being in the basement doesn't make a really great view on the treadmill! Restaurants....well, you are only left with the choice of heading to the Vue if you wanna avoid very average food. Prepare the $$$!! Turns-out you are better off getting somebody to send you to restaurants across the city! Last but not least, the taxi stand! How difficult can it be to get a taxi'' Better start downloading some of those apps!!
"Rooms and Location"
This is a superb hotel, with the best location in Shanghai. The rooms are very nice and staff are very caring. Very nice health club and sports facilities, The best bar in shanghai is vue bar on top floor, with amazing variety of drinks and lay out is outstanding
"View cannot make good for all concerns"
Slightly worn out rooms. Layout of room questionable (no privacy in bathroom). Staff lacking attention to details and reactivity in case of reclamations (even if or because nicely communicated). Incredible view and roof-top bar must make good for most of it.
