I wanted a clean place to simply sleep and feel safe. I was 100% satisfied. The bedding was fresh and there was no lasting odors in the room or hotel.Comment of W. LECOLION , United States the 2016-03-15
"Hyatt with a nice view of Charles River and Boston skyline"
The hotel is located on the edge of MIT campus and has a couple of shuttles - one to Harvard Square and one to Kendall Square. If you are into walking, you can walk over to Massachusetts Ave and turn right to get to the center of MIT. The architectural set up with a central atrium and glassed building is prototype Hyatt. My check in was smooth. I was disappointed that my membership in the loyalty club did not give me automatic upgrade in my wi fi, but the reception person, Frank, took it upon himself to upgrade me free of charge so that I can be satisfied. The room was large and set up to give a suite like ambiance. The room was clean, and all amenities were there including a couple of free bottles of water in the fridge. The king size bed was comfortable, the TV was large and the desk worked well. I did not have time to try out the health club on this stay, but it is available 24 hours. The pool has somewhat more restricted hours.
Great food. Very fresh, tasty and plentiful. Super pretty, cool and friendly staff. Great pastry and coffee latte. Took the train from the airport on 3 hour layover to Temple Square, walked around, had a great lunch and hopped back on the train to the airport. Easy Peasy..
"Did not meet expectations."
We booked through hotwire because we are in town for participation in an Autism research study at Boston University. The hotel is not 4 star quality. The front desk check in with Michael was polite. We had arranged for extra pillows and blankets before we arrived, but upon arrival were told they didn’t have any pillows. The shuttle sounded convenient, but there is a huge catch- it will only take you one way. So you can get a ride to Harvard Square, Kendall Square, et al, but you have to find your own way "home". The nearest T stop is over a mile away, so transportation in this area without a bike or car can be troublesome. The room itself is average. Some chunks taken out of wallpaper, dirty windows inhibiting the view of Charles River and skyline. Parking is $40/day, thus making my hotwire purchase much less of a deal. I would recommend sraying in Charlestown and taking the T to Cambridge rather than staying here.
"Hyatt Regency overlooking Boston"
A great, clean place to stay located on Memorial Drive. Given the route to Logan, it is quicker than one may think due to the tunnels and memorial Drive not usually overly congested. The rooms are very clean and the staff is superbly well-trained!
This hotel can be summed up by the blue-green plastic grass hanging from the balconies on every floor - old, dirty and a poor choice. I expected more from a Hyatt in Boston. Despite the state of the hotel, the staff seemed to be trying to make the best of a bad situation. They were friendly and willing to help. The food in the restaurant was better than expected.
