"Beautiful but without the professional staff one would expect "
You go to this hotel for the location, the view and the facilities. All of the above are great, so it's easy to go back to the hotel to drop off a bag or have a nap. Yet in a hotel in this price range you expect quality and polite, perhaps even enthusiastic staff. In that regard it's lacking and I would instead recommend one of the competing luxury hotels.
"True 5 star"
One of the best hotels I have stayed at. Service was impeccable and staff was accommodating at every opportunity. They were glad to help with any situation, whether the business centre was open or not, and the staff in the 9th Floor lounge were outstanding. This is a true 5 star hotel..
"Overall I would recommend this hotel for any kind of trip"
One of the best hotels in Kiev, very comfortable rooms, nice interiors, great location, breakfast needs some improvement, however room dining is excellent. Fast check in and check out , for those who expect to relax at room after a long flight asap this is very important.
"Great Hyatt in Kiev"
For me the best hotel to stay in Kiev. The staff are great, service is impeccable and the location of the hotel is very good too. In the summer evenings the Bar on 8 terrace is stunning wit its beautiful views of the city and a yummy food selection. My recommendation is the Chicken Shaslik and a Mojito with it.
"Love the hotel, but not the service"
Let me begin with saying that I have stayed in all the top hotels in Kiev, as I come here a few times a month. I consider the main competition for Hyatt to be Hilton, so it will be my benchmark. The good points: The hotel is in an ideal location, really, for someone who wants to see the most beautiful side of Kiev. Close to the hotel, you have three of the most beautiful cathedrals in Kiev, as well as the iconic Andrevski's descent. The location here is the best where hotels go (on par with Intercontinental which is across the street, also not a bad hotel but that's a different review). The restaurant is good, the food generally is well executed and is most importantly tasty. The service in the restaurant is good, unlike most other parts of the hotel. The view from the hotel is excellent, you will likely see the beautiful Sofia Cathedral or the beautiful square in front of the hotel. Excellent in the distance, Except if you happen to look down at the building next to the hotel, which frankly looks like a remnant of a war zone, a fallen-apart building and a huge eye-sore. The ladies working at the spa are so nice, it is always a treat to go there. Especially, Natalya is very good with nails (comes with having worked there for almost a decade) and made my girlfriend feel special on her birthday by helping organising a gift for her from the Hotel's spa. The roomservice is good, they pick up the phone and we get what we order (in contrast to my review of Hilton). I asked for a birthday cake, and it was wonderfully made, and the hotel staff made a nice gesture, signing a Happy Birthday card. The bad points: This is based on my five stays with Hyatt in Kiev over the course of a year. Why I have stayed there so few times, I will cover here. Unlike Hilton, where they are ready to kiss your feet and you feel like the most welcomed person in the world, the Hyatt staff is clearly waiting to go home or do something else, not at all eager to please and happy with giving just adequate service. Part of this is mostly because they switch personel constantly, each time you come down to the lobby there's someone new there that you have never seen before and thus making it hard to feel at home there, because you feel like a stranger each time you go into the lobby. Most recently, I stayed at Hyatt with my girlfriend during her birthday, and she needed to print some documents in the business room. When she came to the business area, the lady there treated her with disrespect, like she had no important business there. After having asked what her purpose is in the Business area, in the not-so-happy manner that is common of Hyatt staff, she assigned her a computer. Upon printing the documents, the lady told her that she will get the papers for her (that would be appropriate), but then she changed her mind and sat down again and said maybe it's better if she gets them herself. Confusing treatment and I was sad to hear it on her birthday. Another reason for not staying here so many times: Once, I had the presidential suite (which is several thousand euros a night in high season) and spent about 8k euro during my stay, and never got offered a membership, and when I came back I found out about the membership but they refused to grant me points for my previous stay. Unfortunate inflexibility, since the points would have given me a huge reason to come back, which would make up for some of the poor points. All in all, I would recommend Hyatt if you are aware that the service is not a happy one, but there's nothing really wrong with it, they deliver as promised what you ask for. Combined with a brilliant location, I still rank it as the best hotel if you want to have a romantic time as it's hard to argue with the hotel facilities and the area itself, and the service is perfectly adequate. Just don't expect anyone to go out of their way to, for example, suggest you ballet shows because you once asked for ballet tickets during one of your stays (example from one of Hyatt's competitors in Kiev). Overall, I still enjoy my stay, so thank you to the people in the staff that still take pride in your work, you make up for all other bad points.
