"Good property but feel like purgatory."
This Hyatt is a great hotel over all. Connected to the convention center, easy to navigate, warm and inviting. It has an excellent fitness center for all your workout needs and has plenty of different machines to help you mix it up. However, it's in the middle of nowhere in respect to food and anything to do other than the convention center. If the convention center isn't packed and all the food places are open, it take at least 10 min. To get to anything that isn't in the hotel. Other than that it was a pleasant stay and a nice hotel.
"Very nice hotel"
I was fairly impressed by the Hyatt Regency at McCormick Place. We chose it because it was attached to the convention center. The rates were actually very reasonable. The rooms were decorated nicely and had several amenities. There were TV connection ports which allowed you to easily plug in nearly any device. There was also a "cooler" which kept items at about 45 degrees per the sign. I found that odd and wondered why they didn't have a traditional refrigerator which would keep food colder. The in-room coffee was only dark roast but there was a Starbucks on site if that didn't suit your fancy. The fitness center was very nice which lots of high-end equipment. Everything was very clean. My largest complaint concerns the bathroom. While it was tastefully designed and decorated, it was less than practical. There was only one towel bar and it was located inside the glass shower. It lacked decent ventilation. And worst of all, the lighting was awful. In fact, the lighting was so bad that you could order an extra, lighted, make-up mirror from the front desk per a sign in the bathroom. Clearly, they've gotten many complaints about this.
Spacious clean rooms. Comfortable beds and pillows. Staff courteous. Location does not have a lot of choices with nearby restaurants. Hotel restaurants are good. Bring earplugs if you have to stay here. Noisiest pipes in the walls ever! Anytime anyone uses the water it sounds like there's a drill in the wall. Easy access to convention center. Refrigerator is technically more of a cooler.
"Volleyball tournament weekend"
We were there for the tournament at the convention center. Can't stay anywhere better! You don't even need to go outside and January in Chicago- that's important! The hotel staff were great! I had an upgrade for a room and we ended up on the top floor with a suite! The view was incredible! The staff was kind and helpful all weekend. I wouldn't stay anywhere else!
"Did not want to leave."
My husband and I checked in for 1 night ended up staying 3 nights. They put me in a room that was looking right over the water. I love love love loved it. Now I know when visiting the area stay here. Plus I got everything I asked for when calling down to the desk. You really know how to keep your guest happy. I will be back.
