They took great care of us and made it easy to store luggage and still gave us access to all the amenities at the hotel before our room became available. The only downside was the number of unsupervised kids using the hot tub.Comment of W. Kirsten , United States the 2016-07-29
The location, setting, and overall experience were all fantastic. Great value for the money, exceptional service, hassle-free booking and reservation -- and most of all, the room was amazing. Excellent decor, well equipped, super comfortable bed, and great marina view. Hyatt remains at the top of their game. Our experience could not have been better -- the only thing wrong was that we wish we could have stayed longer! Five stars all the way, from the time we booked until the time we checked out.Comment of S. Kevin , United States the 2016-07-05
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. So close to sea world and the view was beyond amazing.Comment of B. Christopher , United States the 2016-04-22
"San Diego Zoo Safari"
I request in advance for early check in due to my 1 year old daughter. But ended waiting for 3 hours. Staff was great. Marble Spa staff was wonderful. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Bed was uncomfortable.
"Not up to Hyatt standards"
This hotel is very dated. It appears to be undergoing renovation but starting construction at 7am hardly makes for a relaxing vacation - and it was over a holiday weekend! The pool is overrun with children which would be fine if they reserved a small section for adults only. Front desk staff were a bit grumpy and had little to say when confronted with some of the concerns. All in all, it was a big disappointment and did not measure up to Hyatt quality in any way!
"AMAZING LOCATION...but that's pretty much it..."
This is a very nicely located hotel, however. I stayed in it over 10 years ago, and I returned to it last week and it's THE SAME. Same room furniture, same lobby, same pools, and grounds. The hotel is EXTREMELY under utilized given its GREAT location. The owner of the hotel needs to pour in some money to lift its appeal. The lobby looks like Motel 6's lobby, maybe a bit bigger, but NO THRILLS given the steep price/night. Families with kids: The balcony is very nice, but it has a gap that a young kid might slip through it. I didn't feel that safety was very well thought of. One positive thing is parking, but the hotel comes with a VERY steep "Resort Fee," that's practically worthless.
"Hyatt's folley near Mission Beach"
I have been to San Diego a number of times and always had a good experience including Loew's Coronado, del Coronado, Sheraton and Marriott (at convention center). I expected a bit more from a Hyatt branded hotel, even though I had read the reviews about how run down the place is ( ha, I thought it myst be one of thise whiney travelers!) . The young and smiling staff keeps a great facade to what lies beyond the cracked floor lobby. Assigned Room 1 , an 8th floor ' marina view' was situated above the open trash bins;the noise from the ice maker 3 doors down came through through the A/C vent, not even in stereo, though. Room 2 on the 12 floor, pool and water view. Quiet. Somewhat clean. Bubbling wallpaper, broken drawer, scant 'Target' quality towels. More on day 2 on hallway request to Laura, the lovely housekeeper. Water bottles in room (refill, take your bottle to the gym by . Shower after 6 am when there is warm/hot water. Hot tub(no kids under 17 permitted without parents) at the 'we are out of towels pool' filled with 10 under-age 12 kids with no parents in sight. Lovely woman in spa gave us towel for the pool, after I promised to return it. No lifeguard or hotel staff in sight at the pool; only one kid hit in face with chair when playing, but he found his dad! Woman at pool with dog wearing 'do not pet vest' (dog was not a helper dog) and owner said a bit skiddish. (Tongue in cheek, I should have invite pup for a dip in hot tub) . Much of facility under a much needed rennovation. Meeting room (palm 2 )clean and has nice patio right out the door) Red Marlin staff lovely, food adequate. Walked to Mission Beach for 2 of the 3 dinners and ate at Cannonball (really' Odd name for a very good sushi restauraunt overlooking ocean)- if all hotels in a 10 mile radius are filled and you must stay at Hyatt Mission, walk, run, skateboard or cab the mile to the beach; it will be the best part of your stay!
The location was close to sea world and mission beach. The pool was great for the kids. Nice size with waterslides. It was in renovation during our stay. The rooms were dated and not well maintained. the service was poor with the exception of the valet .During check-in I was next to be checked in . One of the several people at the desk looked up from his computer and said we will be right with you. At this point I was the only in line and all employee at the check in desk were looking down at their computer. Neither employee was helping a guest. After 15 minutes I had to clear my throat to remind them I'm still standing there. They looked up but no one greeted me to step up and check in. I asked who can help me and after another moment of silence one begrudgingly said I can help you . He quietly checked me in and hand me my key and said have a good stay with out looking at me. It was then I asked how do i get to my room' He gave me a map circled the building and pointed through the lobby and went back to whatever he was doing. later that night my key card got demagnatized so I went to front desk. again only one in line .again he looked up from computer and said we will be right with you . again waited 10 minutes. finally got noticed asked ,"how can I help you" with a straight face. I told her the key card was not working . she said ," room number' " I said 518 . she gave me 2 more key cards and said, "that should do it" and went about her business. underwhelmed!
