They took great care of us and made it easy to store luggage and still gave us access to all the amenities at the hotel before our room became available. The only downside was the number of unsupervised kids using the hot tub.Comment of W. Kirsten , United States the 2016-07-29
The location, setting, and overall experience were all fantastic. Great value for the money, exceptional service, hassle-free booking and reservation -- and most of all, the room was amazing. Excellent decor, well equipped, super comfortable bed, and great marina view. Hyatt remains at the top of their game. Our experience could not have been better -- the only thing wrong was that we wish we could have stayed longer! Five stars all the way, from the time we booked until the time we checked out.Comment of S. Kevin , United States the 2016-07-05
The hotel was absolutely beautiful. So close to sea world and the view was beyond amazing.Comment of B. Christopher , United States the 2016-04-22
"Awesome Conference Location"
Stayed for 3 days while attending a conference on site. We were in the small walk up building with open hallways. It is great to walk out of your room into the fresh ocean air. The conference was really well supported by the hotel staff. Onsite restaurant was great too. Looking forward to going back next year.
"Not the best value"
If you book through a third party avoid staying here or you can expect to stay in a sub par room next to the noisy loading area. Price seem decent at booking until the required $29 resort fee and $37 for parking are added on at hotel. Good location next to Sea World and beach.
"Overbooked with no room for us"
Got here from the airport and they don't have any rooms available. We booked a king corner suite in January. They are sending us to another hotel "for the night." They acted like they're doing us a favor by giving this night free. I feel that common sense says if there isn't a room, we shouldn't pay for a room, so it's not a favor. There are no words for how disappointed and pissed off I feel. I have never had a hotel actually tell me they have no room when I've made a reservation. We had booked a Corner King Suite Regency Club, breakfast included. I was looking forward to staying at the Hyatt. At this point, I would say if you definitely want to have a place to stay when you arrive in San Diego, book elsewhere. This is as bad as it gets. We've overlooked the resort fees, and high parking fees that many of these reviews mention, but this takes the cake. I would never return to any hotel that puts me out before I even arrive. They said they'd give us "free breakfast," and "waive parking." None of that is sufficient to make up for us not staying at the hotel we booked. Now instead of leaving for a day out tomorrow, we will be packing our stuff to check out of one hotel and bumming around until we can (hopefully) check into the room we reserved. I'm having a hard time feeling secure that we'll have a room tomorrow. I've never complained about the Hyatt at Mission Bay, but this is absolutely unacceptable. They have clearly showed a lack respect to us. I will never stay at the Hyatt Mission Beach again. We've stayed here every time we've come to San Diego. We are now 1500 miles from home, less 3300.00 in airfare/hotel and staying at a hotel we didn't choose. Ridiculous and I'll say it again, unacceptable. Absolutely unacceptable.
The hotel was extremely clean, staff was very friendly and proffesional, and the view to the ocean was perfect! I will definately return and stay here once again. The hotel is close to restaurants and the ocean.
"Nice but expensive - not the resort experience we hoped for."
We stayed at the Hyatt Mission Bay for two nights this past weekend. The weather was cool and windy and there were many children at the pool, so did not use the pool facilities. The hot tub was also closed so could not enjoy that. The excessive resort fees included a bike or water sport rental at a place down the pier, but was closed Sunday morning which was the only time we had during our stay to enjoy this amenity, so we could not take advantage of that. The room we received was accessible so was not ideal for us. It was a decent room but I felt we stayed in nicer hotel rooms on this week long trip for much less per night. We were also supposed to received bottled water each day within the room as part of the resort fees, but none was provided on either day. There was some construction noise Monday morning which was not ideal when trying to sleep in and enjoy the "resort." As others have mentioned, the self parking at $37 per night in a crowded lot was not a selling point either. Would I stay here again' Maybe if it were night summer, could enjoy the "resort" and lay around at the pool all day. If I had kids and they wanted to play in a nice pool area, it's a good option. For an adult couple looking to see the city, we would have had a better time at a hotel without the resort fees which we did not benefit from and where parking was a less absurd rate. This is not the typical 4 star Hyatt level of facility I expected, but it was a nice property for people with kids who like to swim all day. It seems like they are making some improvements to the property so perhaps in the future the resort fees will offer more benefits to guests. I will note I got a room from a discount bidding site and had I paid the rack rate, I would be much less positive in my review. I still think what we paid was high, but I can't say it was a bad hotel experience - just paid for a "resort" without the benefits of it.
