"Shabby & not worth the money ..."
I save my recommendations for the positive, but in this case I picked a lemon for over $200 for my 1 night stay in Montreal. Scratched, worn and blah. First room smelled of cigarettes with a deodorizer running to mask the smell. The replacement room was worn. My second bad Hyatt experience in 3 weeks, with the prior in Coral Gables, FL.
"Good option near Place des Arts"
Second time I stay with them. Convention fares are quite good and the hotel is fine. Minor issues at check in but rooms are comfortable, swimming pool, sauna and gym are well taker care of. Location is great, many leisure and food options all around.
"Poor Service at the Hyatt, I won't ever stay here again!"
I really wish I could give Hyatt Regency Montreal a better review than 2 stars. This hotel is very centrally located but they dropped the ball in so many ways. We asked for an upgraded room and after we checked in we found out that it was a basic room but we were tired and just deal with it. The toilet overflowed so I called and let the desk know. We came back two hours later and no one had taken care of it. The refrigerator made a lot of noise and did not cool properly. So I had to unplug the refrigerator in the middle of the night. When I pulled it out to unplug it there was so much dust and dirt it was hard to believe. The next day they just plugged in the same refrigerator (did not fix or replace it!) and it happened again with the noisy refrigerator and what really surprised me is they still did not clean all the dust. The list actually goes on. It really seems like this hotel is mismanaged and one person does not communicate with the others in the departments. When I come back to Montreal I will not be staying here again, They did compensate me for the overcharge on the room after I left. Hey Hyatt get your act together because this place needs to be checked out from the top down!
"Disappointing stay at the Montreal Hyatt Regency"
The room was small, there were not enough towels, no wine glasses. The breakfast buffet wasn't much better than at a Hampton Inn where I recently stayed. There was no concierge when I had questions, and the surly person at the front desk discouraged me from asking him more than once. If you're going to cultural events at the Place des Arts, the location is great, but there are other hotels in the area.
"Great staff, difficult building"
Never sure what to expect but this hotel has a really confusing design. Seemingly only accessible by a very slow lift, the reception is often overrun with cruise ship passengers or other groups. The bedroom was large and comfortable and very clean. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is ordinary but again saved by the helpful staff. Much of the food however was tasteless. This is a tired and difficult building that would do well to advertise the cruise ship link, those passengers and staff were often overwhelming. I'm not sure what could be done about the access but it's a real negative in my view.
