"A Room with a View"
We stayed here in the beginning of April. The weather was great around 67 degrees, perfect for waling around and sightseeing. The Hyatt Regency was going through renovations on the upper floors, and even though we were on the 17th floor we heard very little noise. The hotel did not offer any type of ear plugs, or discount for the inconvenience of having to walk around the hotel to get in and out. I originally booked the club room, of which I heard was spectacular because it offered wine and cheese and a view of the city which was better than the Eiffel tower view. The hotel sent me an email saying the club room was unavailable, but they'd give us extra breakfast. We preferred to leave early in the morning and discover our own places to eat. This task wasn't easy to do. Places in Paris open later (9:00) . The concierge was not helpful when we asked for a location of a cafe nearby, he simply pointed to the hotel restaurant, which was not open until 9 as well. The electrical outlets are not converted in the hotel, and a converter that we bought at Best Buy got hot then turned itself off within seconds. The concierge said he could not help this situation either. The pluses of the hotel-The Hyatt had a great location, as it is situated on top of a mall where you could easily access the metro. The room was big, and clean and very new. It was very comfortable and the shower was delightful. I would highly recommend wearing flats and buying a metro package.
Great hotel and staff. Unfortunately the lobby and tower bar ate under renovation, although this did not affect our stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Upon arrival we were informed that as we were visiting on honeymoon, the hotel wished to upgrade or room and provide us with some free champagne and pastries. Our room was newly renovated to a very high standard and had an impressive view over Paris and the Eiffel tower. We had a great stay and would definitely visit again.
"Better than expected"
From reading the reviews after booking the hotel with British Airways package, myself and my boyfriend had low expectations. However, the transport we booked dropped us off outside the alternative entrance due to building work and we easily found our way to the reception, with help from security. On arrival, I got a free easter egg (smiles all round.. free chocolate, a girl cannot complain!) We were told we had to pay city tax on leaving, and we upgraded to the view of the Eiffel Tower for 60 euros, and my God was it a view... so beautiful at night seeing it sparkle. The room: Bed - We couldn't complain it was huge, and comfy with a huge television opposite ( didn't show many English channels, just the news - but who watches tv in Paris'') Bathroom - unfortunately the shower took ages to drain so we had a free flood in the bathroom, I'm exaggerating here but we did have to use all the towels to mop it up. The shower was amazing though, so powerful and hot! Room Service- we didn't order anything from the room service nor did we have breakfast as it's an extra 25 euros each! We did need a corkscrew and an English plug which they happily provided (10 euro deposit for the plug). I wish I had known there was supermarket in the building of the hotel, as they had loads of red wine and cheese, and with the view we had, would have been cheaper than eating out with an amazing view. A lot of people on these reviews have complained about the building works, we were warned in reception however it did not affect us in any way, it's between the hours of 10 and 6 and we were out every day. If you are staying here to experience paris, I would advise either using the metro or bringing a very good, comfortable but sturdy pair of shoes as the Louvre, and other attractions are at least a good 3 mile walk, we were walking 15 miles a day! On checking out, we needed the help of the staff due to the transport we booked being unreliable, so the concierge rang the company ensuring they were picking us up. I'd stay here again, thank you to the hotel staff for making my first experience of Paris amazing.
Great hotel room. Everything was brand new. The staff was amazing. Location is very near to all forms of transportation. Had an overall excellent experience My room was exactly as what I saw online. Will stay here again
