I stayed on nov 29 in room 2206. Day was very cold and heating was not working when I went up to the room after dinner. I called reception. It took me 5 phone calls and one hour wait for the technician to arrive. In the meantime I had to wear my coat on the room. The technician managed to change the air flow from cold to hot though the stream was very weak. It helped but room was never at a comfortable temperature plus I could only go to sleep until well after 12 pm. Upon arrival home I got a flu. On top of that the whole hotel is in very poor condition, no maintenance, terrible. There are many options in Paris. Until they do a full refurbishement of the hotel avoid this place.
"At the very, very best, its just about functional."
This is a hotel that is getting a bad press and, having just stayed there, its not hard to see why. However, I have to say that having lived and traveled extensively around France, their staff really are trying to make up for the issues. Its going through a refurb and I would think reconsideration of their pricing policy would be appropriate. However, no amount of renovating is going to get round the fact that you're going through a shopping mall and once you get to the hotel, you feel like you're walking around the 70s and it lacks for any sort of ambiance. My room has issues: 1. The bathroom presents problems for anyone with mobility issues. A high sided bath makes it difficult to get in and out of it. There are no hand rails! 2. The bed was indeed comfortable, with pillows that just invited sleep. However, instead of one duvet for the bed, it used two smaller ones! It means one is redundant if you're staying on your own and one half for a big bed is that on the nights I stayed there, the duvet went walk about and I woke up cold. 3. The bed is way higher than the side table, where the phone, light switches are if you sleep on the left side. You cannot reach them without either falling or, having to get out of the bed. You have to sleep that side to see the small TV, so this lack of thinking permeates through the room. 4. Furniture, adds nothing to the room and as for the minibar, I opened it to find nothing in it at all! I didn't eat there, so I can't comment on that score. Very dated, and not a cozy place and at best, its only functional. If you need more, then this is not for you and they will really need to throw some cash at this place to really get it anywhere near the price they are charging, much less making it worth staying at.
"So disappointed Hyatt!"
Fellow travelers, I advise you to pick elsewhere. It is old, dingy, dirty and dark! I am loyal to the Hyatt brand and have been pleased with the majority of all my stays. However this place is a disgrace. Yes, this place is under a huge renovation but that does not justify the condition nor do the renovations excuse and justify charging guests for a room that is worse than a 1star motel. The condition of this hotel is so bad that it is unbelievable that it's still open. The issues were beyond cosmetic. The phone in the room did not work, nor did half the outlets. The toilet did not flush all the way and even if it did, there was a horrid sewage smell that permeated the room. The bathrooms were so outdated and old: mold and scum on everything!!! The orange (yes, 1970s orange) carpets were so dirty that It was not ok walking without shoes. The curtains would not open and close without having to play tug of war. Outside the rooms were even worse!!!! The hallways are literally stuck in a time warp from the 70s. The walls are blue and the lighting is so dark that's it's creepy. The lights even made that creepy buzzing sound that you see in horror movies. The carpet on the 26th and 33rd floors are so frayed that you can see the concrete underneath. Not just in certain areas but all over!!!!!!!!!!! It's unreal and unbelievable - trust me, it was that bad. And to know that Hyatt has their brand attached to this atrocity of a hotel is a shame. What's even worse is that they are using the excuse of being under renovation as smoke to justify staying in business and charging unbeknownst guests. Suites are not worth the extra cost nor is the regency club. To give you an idea, mid day snacks were dry cookies and soft drinks. Breakfast buffet wasn't anything to brag about. The location is great and I'm sure in about a years time, this will be a rockstar of a hotel but in its current state, it's truly awful. I could look over the cosmetic details but some of the things that I witnessed makes me think that this place has got to be breaking some health and lodging regulations. It's that bad. Shame on you Hyatt. This is coming from someone who is truly loyal to the brand.
"A big disappointment for a Hyatt Regency!!"
Where do I start' What a big disappointment for a Hyatt hotel. It is in fact a disgrace! In dire need of renovations. The rooms are very old, carpeting filthy and the beds so uncomfortable. In dire need of renovation!! The staff are not very cooperative and unfriendly. The gym is devoid of equipment save for the view on a high floor. It is just about the location...
"What a great welcome, staff and what a view !"
Stayed at Hyatt Regency Etoile (a spot when I'm visiting Paris). Great location. Although the hotel is under works with a complete restoration (rooms and overall hotel conditions will be hugely improved), the staff made my stay perfect as usual. Was upgraded to a regency club Eiffel tower view... and could enjoy fabulous views of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. There's no other place in Paris where you can have such a view. Breakfast great at the Regency Club with all continental/american options. A very special mention to Emilie L. who made my stay exceptional with kind attentions. preparation of my venue, selection of the room, delicate attentions in the room, handwritten welcome word... what else could we expect ' Overall value vs price ratio is unbeatable for such a service. Advice, if you're travelling with more than 1 small kid you'd better opt for a suite or 2 rooms.
