Service and food was very good overall. Stayed in the older non tower room. Clean but needs modernized. Air conditioning woke us up every night. Staff was polite and courteous. Great walking areas around the marina which gets you close to some very beautiful large yachts.
This hotel has been there forever - the good the bad and the ugly. You either love the building or you hate it as it is almost round, and pointy, and… There are both the tower and the lodges on the water. I prefer the tower because a) the view, and b) don't have to walk beyond the lobby. However, this is my go-to airport hotel. It is no further than the actual airport hotels yet what a difference. There is not much that can be changed because a concrete tower is a concrete tower. The rooms are very bright and airy, with balconies and water views. The downstairs bar/restaurant is surprisingly good, and affordable. There is a high end restaurant on the other side of the property, yet have not been there. Two outdoor pools and another restaurant. Elevators are beyond slow - allow extra time to catch your flight! I like this a lot as a short stay hotel.
The hotel is in desperate need of work. Rooms are tired and beat up. They look to be 20+ years outdated. When I checked in the front desk staff was less than helpful and I actually dealt with a few different people, so there is definitely a training issue. Would not stay here again, especially at the price they charge.
"Lack of care and outdated facilities"
Great location and could be amazing, but outdated and the front desk service is a disaster and affects everything. Only at check-in was I told of parking fees; just a curt "it's in your confirm" and despite showing evidence, they did nothing but say it's an external company. I spoke to the parking attendant, and gave the parking pass from the conference, the parking company confirmed my parking was covered, but later Hyatt charged me for parking. And they don't respond to emails nor voicemails. Even little things were a big challenge. For instance when a basic component of the breakfast was inedible, couldn't even be cut with a knife, three people came by to look and agreed, but no one did anything - no offer of anything else and no change in the bill. Total lack of attention to detail, and little authority given to staff. Front desk hung up on me 3 times and no one bothered to call back. My room was right by a busy elevator which was loud, and outside was a yacht that would rev it's engine from 1am; since the front desk doesn't take calls, I went to ask for a room change and they said to come back later but of course then later no one knew of my request and there were no rooms. I could go on...
We flew into Ft Lauderdale from California and opted to stay two nights before a drive to the west coast for a week. Our room on the the eleventh floor was large with good views and very quiet. We didn't find any issues with cleanliness or updating. My biggest shout out is for the staff, all of whom were so accommodating and friendly.
