"View and Amenities"
My family totally loved staying here! There are so many things to do with children - bunch of games are available by the pool. The pool was super warm!!! I also highly recommend Pelican Landing - nice view, great menu, and chill atmosphere. Also, try to take their 3rd elevator up to the 16th floor - great view indeed! Luis at FD was super welcoming, and Michael (breakfast) was very helpful and nice. Thank you!
First stayed here 25 years ago and have been back many times for periods between 2 weeks when we holidayed in Florida and 3 days when we have been embarking a cruise out of Port Everglades. The hotel is well placed near the port and for a water taxi terminal and sits in nice grounds with a good swimming pool. We always stay in a Tower High King and again have had great views over the inland water way and Port Everglades. There the good points now end. While some of the staff - the young man who booked us in for example, one waitress around the pool and one concierge - are efficient, courteous and helpful, it seems an increasing number are not. Some of the front counter staff are sullen, the waiter behind the bar next to the swimming pool couldn't care less how long you stand waiting to place an order and we waited in the main bar area nearly 15 minutes yesterday afternoon to place an order for a cup of coffee and then another 15 minutes before the coffee appeared while the waiter chatted idly to various others. The dismal atmosphere in the lounge/bar reflects the fact that this is now overwhelmingly a conference hotel. On our first afternoon we found supplies in the room for just one cup of coffee. An attempt to call housekeeping or reception failed because the phone in the room was not connected to any line. A walk to reception secured a visit from an engineer who took a while to locate the connection point and plug the phone in. He brought with him enough coffee and cream substitute for just one cup of coffee. Today, when room cleaned, enough coffee for two cups left but only cream substitute for one cup! The air conditioning in our room is very noisy - a burst of sound every time it starts up and certainly disturbs any light sleepers. But the bed is large and comfortable though a little bumpy. We have some very fond memories of staying at Pier 66, so it is with sadness that when we leave in the morning we will not be coming back.
"Excellent Concierge help"
We had friends spending the weekend at Hyatt Pier 66 to celebrate their anniversary and we wanted to surprise them with something send to their room. I called the concierge and David Ivy gladly helped me carry out the surprise. He was very pleasant and eager to help. I later got a text from our friends that the gift was in the room when they arrived and were So Surprised!
"Excellent pre cruise hotel"
We came in to Ft. Lauderdale a day early and stayed here the night before a cruise. We arrived in the AM and several in our party were able to get their rooms right away. Our room wasn't ready until 4PM and was way on the other side of the pool area--which seemed a 1/2 mile away from the lobby--posted signs about how to get there the best way were missing. The pool area and pool restaurant were excellent--what a relaxing way to spend the day before a cruise. The hotel is situated on the water also and the marina with it's huge yachts was a wonderful place to walk thru. This hotel has everything to do: watersports, a chess board on the lawn, kids play areas, lawn games--EVERYTHING--you could stay here for several days and be entertained just staying in the hotel. We got the cruise and snooze package which included a shuttle to the cruise line and breakfast. Apparently the number 66 is a big part of his hotel--the top of the tower rotates once every 66 minutes, there are 66 rooms on each side of the pool, etc. Would highly recommend staying at this hotel--definitely recommend letting the desk know if you are mobility impaired so you are given a room close to the lobby.
