"Beautiful views, fabulous time!"
My boyfriend and I just returned from a wonderful 6-night stay at Hyatt Zilara-Cancun. I read many of these reviews before making our decision, so decided to offer my own feedback. This resort is formerly a Royal (Real Resorts); I have stayed at THE Royal in Playa del Carmen multiple times, but this was my first time at the Cancun spot. It offers many of the same touches and is so very welcoming. Best part: amazing views!! Hearing the waves crashing each night was just perfect. First, thank you to Martha Ramos for cleaning our room each day. If any clothes were about, she would neatly fold them and place them on the chair. Jorge also kept us fully stocked with waters, soft drinks and snacks! If you made a special request to either, it was handled immediately. We liked to stay at the beach until about 6pm, so we only opted for turn down service a few nights, but that was nice to come back to when we did. When it came to meals, the omelet station at Spice is a must for breakfast and we most frequented Pelicanos for lunch (only outdoor restaurant). Our favorite dinner was Asiana. We went there for both sit-down and teppanyaki. You must make a reservation for the hibachi style (recommend that). However, we had an hour wait at 9pm for a regular sit down dinner... prepare for that, as well. That was the only place we needed to wait. Everywhere else was right in for dinner. We would also recommend Chef's Plate if you like the daily menu. It is about an 1.5hr but was an excellent 6-course meal. However, unlike the private dining experience at THE Royal in Playa, Chef's plate here is one long table (max. 16) in a small room...so the dining experience varies based on your fellow guests. We were happy with the quality of the food and the service we received. Every employee we came across was so kind and usually very attentive. For example, Arturo welcomed us right into paradise after we arrived on our first lunch...Oscar was one of the many people at Asiana that had us cracking up. Antonio was also sweet at Marie Marie's/Cantina - going the extra mile explaining every step of the process while making us flaming Mayan coffees. Overall, you were never in want of anything. Drinks were always filled...the pool/beach servers were all so quick. I wish I remembered more names to recognize all who made our trip special! Thank you all :) Other food notes: We ordered room service a few times and it was speedy! 24 hour lounge also a favorite spot for snacks like chips and guacamole and some pool or ping pong. Lobby bar also great. And, I will seriously miss the coffee shop. Best spot. We loved it there! Mocha frappes, double espressos, ice cream, muffins...they had everything. Delicious! A few cons to mention: 1) if you want to use your room hot tub... start the water early. Took ours over an hour to fill. 2) There are not enough pool chairs. You really do need to set an alarm for 6am or so, if you want to have a chance at one. Even that is not a guarantee...we met a couple who comes down and claims their seats and cabana at 12:30AM! A towel on a seat, with no personal property, should not be enough to claim it yours. Hyatt needs to do something about this practice (I suggest placing towels on each spot ahead of time for guests.) But, at the very least, just replace and add chairs. Returning guests we met said there used to be 2x the amount. I can only imagine how competitive it will be for seats in the summer months. Some couples would not arrive until after 11am (chairs are supposedly fair game after 30/45 mins of non-activity.) I did bring our concern s up to Yoshi at the pool on our first day and he helped us find a chair. FYI: on foam party day (which is so fun!), the seats and cabanas on the activity side of the pool are reserved and cost a fee - approx $150 USD. With that being said, you were always guaranteed a spot at the beach. That was one of our favorite places! The ocean is simply stunning. For reviews that said you couldn't swim in the ocean, we had no problem. Yes, the flags were yellow/red during our stay but we were in there every day. Just be careful because the tide can carry you. Ocean was warm...as for pool temperature, we learned the heater was broken during our stay but it warmed up a bit as the week went on. It was cool, yet felt refreshing! We loved grabbing drinks at the swim-up bar and beach bar (Yuri and crew were great) and it was fun to stand at the edge of the infinity pool and watch the ocean. We enjoyed the quiet side of the pool, but had a lot of fun doing activities with Angelo and Rita(sp') the one day we sat over there...Bike ride, crafts, water aerobics, tacos I know this was lengthy but hopefully it helps you out if you're considering Zilara. Get ready for relaxation! Enjoy a fabulous vacay here!! :)
Very friendly and attentive staff. Excellent food and restaurants. High selection of alcohol. Beer, wine, and liquor also available in the rooms. 24/7 service. The hotel is very clean and well kept. Great shows in the lobby every night. Highly recommended.
"Beautiful resort and excellent service"
This all-inclusive resort was a highlight of our vacation. Our room was large, and we had a beautiful view of the ocean. The exercise room was quite large and had a surprisingly nice selection of machines and free weights. The rest of the property was wonderful as well. But most importantly, the service was absolutely incredible. Every staff member did their best to make sure we had everything we needed -- from the moment I called to arrange a car with Martin, I knew this was going to be a wonderful experience. The driver who picked us up at the airport was so informative, and upon our arrival at the hotel, every staff member greeted us with a smile and asked if they could do anything for us. Moreover, the service in the restaurants, as well as on the beach, was second to none. I can't say enough good things about the staff! We came back from the beach every evening to an impeccably clean room. We were blown away. If there's a negative, it's with some of the food. The Mexican restaurant was very disappointing, but the food at Spice and at the Wednesday evening steak and tails dinner on the beach were delicious! And we can't say enough good things about the Coffee House and the 24 hour snack/game room. We would definitely stay here again!
"from subzero weather to Cancun glory"
We left Montana with the temperature at 0 degrees. We arrived in Cancun to a wonderful 78 degrees, We found heaven on earth. The Hotel Zilara was magnificent. The scenic view was the best beach view of any of the hotels. We couldn't have chosen wiser. The four restaurants were indescribable. The food was the best we had ever eaten. Shout outs to the front desk staff Nancy, Hector, Paulina, Eladio and Miguel. They were the best. Spice staff Carlos Cararenio, Consuelo and Carlos Martinez. Coffee Shop Rogelio and Carlos Palacious. Ligia at the Pool Bar. Wonderful service. The Spa the wonderful Terry, Perla and Carmine. The housecleaning and turndown service Felipe Yah and Brenda Argnes. Couldn't collect all the names of all the wonderful employees who gave us nothing but superb service. A Very Big Thank You from the six women who to traveled to your wonderful country and enjoyed our stay.
