"Not a Five Star"
Have been here for four days. Previously stayed here when Dreams operated it and picked it due to great beach and size.Although some physical attributes have been upgraded with Hyatt, service levels have deteriorated. Hyatt has eliminated most brand name liquor at the bars and serves the worst Mexican red wine that I have experienced at a resort. Numerous other guests have observed this as well. We will not drink it. Service in two of the restaurants is very poor-the serving staff are pleasant but not enough of them. Others have commented on infrequent beverage service at beach and pools - we are not big consumers and did not notice, Our room is updated and as expected - not luxurious but with great views and pleasant. Apparently not all rooms are updated. Bottled water is not replenished daily. Although resort has a great private beach this resort appears to be run by accountants rather than hospitality professionals. I have never written a report while still on vacation but others should know what they are booking. We have stayed in 15 plus 4 and 5 star Mexican properties. This one does not measure up due to cutting corners.
"Beautiful Resort for our Wedding"
We got married at this property mid-November. It was amazing. Esman, our wedding planner was our saving grace. He took care of us completely. We had nothing to worry about. THANK YOU ESMAN!!! Lots of stuff for family and kids to do. Trips, sight-seeing, para-gliding, ocean fun, plus lots more. Our wedding itself went off without a hitch. The food was amazing and the DJ was great too. We had so much fun. Not much to do after the sports bar shuts down...and it shuts down early every night. 12:30 rolls around the the DJ unplugs and they call for last call. That was a bummer, but we made do. Can't be mad when you are surrounded by such beauty. We will definitely consider coming back to this place for our anniversary. Thanks again to everyone that made our wedding vacation such a memorable experience.
"A good 4.5 star resort"
We visited the Hyatt Ziva for a 1 week stay from Nov 28 - Dec 5. We traveled with a group of 15 of us, 8 adults and 7 children. In general, for an older hotel, we found it to be in a great state of repair and found the rooms to be well appointed. Everything was clean and although we had AC issues in the room and a sliding patio door that would barely slide, the items were addressed during our stay. The beds were excellent, the bathroom well appointed and a flat screen TV in the room where we were able to plug in our ipad and watch a movie with our kids at night. The beach is excellent, and as per all the other reviews. it is "private" which is nice. There is some surf here so the ocean is not always great for swimming, but when it is calm, the water temp is fantastic. The service at this resort was very good, as are most of the resorts I have visited in Mexico. However, I will say that we had service above and beyond from several staff members at this particular resort, and they were: - Alejandro (waiter at north pool area) - Juan (waiter on beach and at main infinity pool near the Italian restaurant) - Edgar & Alex (entertainment staff) We also had great service from many of the other staff members throughout the resort, and I am sorry I can't recall all the names! We did have some service that was less than ideal from one of the girls in the Kids Club, where she was a bit annoyed that we brought our kids there to watch a movie for an hour one day when she had no other kids there... this was not the norm for the level of service we received everywhere else on the resort... The pools at this resort (although not all that expansive) are fantastic. They are all heated! This makes the pools significantly more desirable to be in and we found ourselves regularly in the pools until well after dark, enjoying the nice warm water and playing games with the kids. The drinks and service at the pools and beach were all great. We found the food at the buffet to be good, but fairly repetitive and the options a bit limited compared to other places we have visited. We ate at all of the Al a Carte restaurants and we enjoyed them all. I will say we liked the Japanse the least of all and probably enjoyed the Italian or the Mexican the most. The coffee shop was also a place in which we frequented regularly. You can get a great coffee along with great service, as well as beautiful pastries and ice cream there 24 hours a day! All in all, I would give this hotel a 4.5 out of 5. I would only deduct the .5 due to the fact that the food as a whole was just not quite as good as I had expected it to be. It was not bad, it was just that the options were not as plentiful as I expected and there were a couple of times where we were served improperly cooked chicken (on completely uncooked once) or other foods. With this said, if you watch what you eat a bit this will really be of little or no concern, and this problem can/will be encountered in virtually all resorts in Mexico. Everything else was fantastic in my opinion, and I would happily refer people to this resort and will certainly consider it again in the future. It was a great resort for our large group to go and have some fun. We met many other people while here and that is one of the best things about a small resort, where by the end of your week your kids are playing with new friends and you are hanging out with new people from all over the world. Thank you again to the great staff we met during our stay. We look forward to returning some day!
"Beautiful private beach"
Great views. Excellent service Food at The Grill was good All inclusive wine was really less than mediocre. Everything else was terrific Would definitely stay again. Used to be Dreams location. They are doing a lot of upgrades
"Service above and beyond"
We were at the Hyatt for a wedding in October. The venue was perfect for our group of about 40 to enjoy a week of festivities leading up to the wedding.... and if you didn't want to hang with the group there was plenty of places to go for quiet or private time. We spent most of our day time on the beach the first two days, where Jose provided excellent service and answered questions we had about going into town. He had us laughing every time we saw him the rest of our trip. Aquiles was our favorite bartender on the resort. He went above and beyond in so many ways. We love Mezcal and he went out of his way to find a nice bottle to bring to us. He even brought us jicama and cucumber from the kitchen for us to try with it. One day he pulled out 1/2 a watermelon - somehow it has fruit, jello and alcohol in it. It was so delicious. They passed it around at the pools. I can't even begin to describe his excellent level of service. We appreciate Aquiles & we'll be back to see him!
