"I GAINED 5 pounds"
Celebrated my birthday at this wonderful resort in Dec. My family and I arrived at the airport and were escorted to the Ziva lounge and we were greeted with warm smiles and a delicious drink, 10 minutes later we were on our way to the resort. Again greeting with warm smiles and a delicious drink. Check in was a breeze. Rooms were clean and spacious. The resort is very clean and beautiful... I know some were complaining about construction area around the property but....how can you get improvement without construction Well... It didn't bother my family. I look forward to going back to see the wonderful changing they made. We will returned to this resort. This was our 4th trip to Montego bay and 1st time staying at Ziva. The food is sooooo good I gained 5lbs doing my stay. I loved this place and cant wait to go back. Thanks to the wonderful staff who made my birthday so special.
"Beautiful All Inclusive Resort"
We absolutely loved this beautiful resort with lovely manicured gardens, a great layout with many of the restaurants located within one building. Our room was decorated nicely and we had a view of the pool area from our balcony. We traveled with friends and all bought an upgraded package which allotted us access to the club room on the fifth floor, easy access from our rooms, where we would visit the club room at different times of the day and we were provided snacks and drinks. Special thanks to Sudion, Deon, Brittanya and Callela for taking such good care of us. Every evening, we had a before dinner drink in the nicely appointed club room where we could choose from sandwiches or appetizers and desserts, chocolate or cookies depending on the time of the day often returning at the end of the evening for a after dinner drink and dessert. We rented a cabana by the beach and then by the pool that adequately was room for four people to lounge on. Unfortunately, the cabanas by the beach were near the sewage holding tank so we changed the cabana to poolside where we enjoyed drinks by the pool and access to the swim up bar as well as frequent dips in the pool. The ocean is beautiful but the beach area, although lovely, was too rocky for me to comfortably wade out or swim in. However, my husband and friend enjoyed taking the catamaran out and did so about 12 times throughout the week. I also enjoyed the catamaran the last day which was really fun. Special thanks to Andrew and his excellent crew, at the beach, who are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and were so each and every time my husband and friend wanted to take the catamaran. The staff are also very diligent and careful about water sports, when to go out and also assessing if people should go out themselves or with one of the crew. We were extremely impressed with them and can't thank them or praise them enough. Our meals were lovely and our favorite restaurant was the DiroZa Italian restaurant. The buffet was great for breakfast or lunch. We enjoyed lunch at the restaurant near the pool. Jerky was also served near the ocean in the Jerk Shack. I could not find anything negative to say about this resort. You can tell management is excellent by the way staff engage with their guests which is courteous, hardworking and welcoming. Thanks to the Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall we had a truly wonderful vacation.
Long story short. i traveled cancun ziva last summer, cancun was better in every aspect. there's lack of restaurant options for breakfast and lunch (only 2 restaurants, and one of them terrible-carribean cuisine) construction on the beach side - too much noise, and trucks and labors I watched in jamaica - and that's covering most of the beach side between beach and the pool in ziva property. I would rather go to Cancun ziva.
Overall I enjoyed my stay at the resort. Costumers was great. The environment warm and beautiful. The negatives are: poor taste in food. Poor choice of night life entertainment. The beach water front consist of too many large rocky stones. Needs smoother beach front sand.
"FIRST TIME A CHARM....SECOND TIME NOT SO MUCH!"
I stayed at the Hyatt Zilara in May of 2016. Everything from the grounds to the food, the staff was wonderful!! In November 2016 I stayed at the Hyatt Ziva due to no availability at the Zilara. I arrived at the Ziva very early for check in due to the fact that I was coming in from another hotel in Ocho Rios. I was booked for an ocean front double. I informed the front desk clerk that I did not care about how long I would have to wait since I was very early but please just make sure that my room was nice. About an hour later she informed me the room was ready and I was given the keys. When I got to the room and walked in I noticed immediately that it was not an ocean front double, it was at best, ocean view. I informed them right away and they dishonestly still suggested that this was an oceanfront room, but they would offer me a junior suite as an upgrade. It sounded very good, but turned out to be a disaster! It was located in Rose Hall Village which is a very remote location on the resort. The room was located at the very end of the hall and my belief is that it was a model only to be used for viewing. The water in the shower was not working, nor the tub. When we called for any kind of service from housekeeping to room service everything was very slow to "we are just not coming!" Probably because of the terribly long walk to get there! Last but not least, the power went out!! We were stuck in the dark until I found the power switch! The next day I spoke with the room coordinator, Claudia several times and voiced my concerns many times until we were promised that we would be moved into the room that I paid for! I had to call her back once again after 4pm to remind her once again that we were supposed to be moved. They eventually arrived to move us and they did take us to an actual room that was an oceanfront double........right in front was a construction zone!! I guess this was my payback for insisting that I be moved to the room that I actually booked. The construction site definitely took away from the view, and the noise was from sun up to sun down. Room service as well as customer service was awful. My toilet was stopped up three times and the last time it totally flooded the whole bathroom. It took them over 30 minutes to respond. This was definitely a disappointing stay for me especially since I had such a wonderful stay at the Zilara. I'm not sure if I will stay at the Hyatt again.
