"Basically the preceding Kimpton minus the wine hour"
We have been to this property twice. They absolutely will not let you check into a room before 3 pm which was unfortunate. However, every person was soooo nice and helpful. The rooms are ok by NYC standards. They were quiet and clean and the beds comfortable. We were disappointed that the manager who treated us very well in the past was on Maternity leave ( congrats!!). I'd like to see they consider reinstituting a wine hour. The lobby is quite boring and it would give people something to look forward to. However, there was no drop off when it changed from the 70 Park Avenue Hotel to become a Iberostar property- well done.
"Not a 4 Star Hotel"
This hotel was nice enough for the location and price (we paid $240 for a Saturday night). I'm not sure why it is categorized as a 4 star hotel. It is an old building that has not been updated. The room was very musty and damp with very little ventilation and a poorly working ac unit. The room was not clean. The sheets and towels were clean but that was about it. The room was very dusty and the shower had hair in it. The toilet clogged after two uses.
"Nice Hotel - But Watch for Fraudulent Charges for Mini-Bar"
While we liked and enjoyed the hotel, we noticed a charge show up several days after we left. We called to inquire and they said it was for the mini-bar, which we did not use. Upon investigation, they admitted it was a "mistake" and said they would refund the charge. Now, a couple months and two calls later, it has still not been refunded. Beware!
"Thankful for this lovely little boutique hotel . My Go-To in NYC."
I have stayed here many many times over the years and after a string of exceptionally negative hotel stays in one single trip (see my reviews for the HGU hotel, the Bernic and the Dylan) I am grateful for this reliably comfortable and clean little gem on Park Ave. The Superior King is my room of choice, as it gets the best light, and is just the perfect size. On a high floor have a great view straight down Park Ave :) Dont let the other reviews about the blah lobby deter you - the hotel changed ownership in July and they are in the process of renovating the lobby and the restaurant. Who hangs out in their lobby anyway ' :)
"Great value, great access"
Stayed 1 night. Sure, lobby is nothing to write home about, but clean, well-appointed Premier King room for less than $350 all in, minutes from Grand Central' - very hard to beat. (Competing nearby same-class hotels when booking were $700 nearby. Geesh! What do people think this place is!!'') Helpful staff made it all easy. Would rebook in a heartbeat.
