"A lovely holiday which ended in disaster"
We stayed in the hotel in April for 12 days. Apart from a senior waiter early in the holiday & all the way through, the stay in the hotel was lovely, relaxed & so good we were planning to return. Then 2 days before we were due to leave I asked for a copy of our bill, we always signed for drinks & food. 3 item's stood out. I asked at the reception for a look at these copies. One had 5 pint's added to the bill after I had signed for the original, another a bottle of wine & the 3rd, various drinks added.Plus I argued that the signature was not mine! We were refunded the discrepancies, but the atmosphere around some of the staff became awkward, the holiday went downhill from then. So much so that sitting by the pool the next day, my wife said 'I've had enough, I just want to go home'.
We stayed for 5 days in September. The room was very nice and roomy and a very nice patio. Every morning we enjoyed the breakfast, there was plenty of choices and the staff was great. The hotel is well located as we walked to Puerto Banus every day. Lounged by the pool one day - it was pretty crowded while we were there.
"Excellent 4 star hotel close to the beach"
We stayed for 4 days at the end of October and really felt at home. The room we had was spacious and had a comfortable bed and lovely balcony. There is a good pool and the beach is only 5 mins. We walked to Puerto banus and it took 15 mins. There is a good wet room facility with sauna, jacuzzi and steam room. The gym is a welcome facility but the machines need some addition/improvement. The staff were friendly and professional.
"Nice hotel with really helpful staff and healthy breakfast"
Right through our holiday the staff were friendly and the reception staff were exceptionally helpful and informative. They advised us on our various expeditions (providing free maps) and organised for us to start breakfast slightly early on the last day to ensure we caught our bus. I would really recommend asking their advice. The healthy options for breakfast are really good (can't say what their cooked breakfast is like other than my wife tried their boiled eggs and said they were delicious). I don't think I remember seeing such a variety ever. The room was spacious and clean, although showing its age in a couple of places - nothing off-putting. We were on the same level as the pool, which was handy as this was the main route out to the coastal path. The very open design of the hotel does mean that noise is a bit of an issue when the entertainment starts - there's nothing to deaden the sound. Although we looked at lots of options for our transfer from the airport (we decided not to hire a car) it was only apparent later that there is a bus (Avanza L-79) that goes from the Marbella bus station and stops directly outside the hotel. Combined with the bus from Malaga airport to Marbella bus station that is the cheapest transfer option. We did lots of walking - Puerto Banus is 15-20 minutes away along the coast and has lots of restaurants and very expensive shops. We also did the walk to Marbella - it took us well over an hour to get 3.6 miles to the centre. After walking around all day long (including Puerto Banus again for dinner) we were starting to get blisters. One final comment: we did a trip to Malaga (two buses required) and had a very pleasant day of sight-seeing except for a very close shave with a pickpocket. She had her hand inside my wife's handbag and very nearly made off with our credit cards prevented only by my wife's vigilance.
"An excellent hotel in all respects"
my wife and I were in a party of 12 on a golfing holiday and this group have travelled together with some alterations for over 20 years and in my view was the best by far of all the hotels we have stayed in. First and most important is the staff, from the initial meeting with the reception on checking in to the time when we left the staff without exception were faultless. They always had a smile whoever we met was clearly happy in their job and their service was impeccable, they were led by example by the manageress and the head of the bar staff . Secondly, the rooms were large, comfortable, had a vast amount of storage space. We had a room with a balcony at the back of the hotel and I am sure our experience would have been even better if we had had a sea view over the swimming pool. I understand that there will be some closure of the hotel this coming winter it will be interesting to see what improvements will be made. The food was of the buffet variety but that also involved the participation of several staff who displayed the same enthusiasm for their work. All our group enjoyed the food with some having particular favourites such as Gaspacho, many varieties of freshly cooked fish and chocolate fans were Extremely well catered for. We were on a all inclusive holiday and the drinks which were available were more than acceptable. As to facilities within the hotel the pool was small, there were pool and table tennis tables, a gym and a library. In the evening there was usually a show in the evening which usually lasted an hour. As indicate initially an excellent to which I hope to return and have confidence in recommending.
