"New & Revamped! Great location! "
Loved my stay at In Fashion! The hotel was so clean, crisp, fun, and comfortable. The hotel is right on the bar/club strip almost directly across from coco bongo. If you plan to go out and party a lot on your stay there is no other hotel more perfect than In Fashion. I stayed on the second floor where the pool and glass balcony overlooking the street is located. The hotel itself is quiet and has little movement due to that most people have literally partied all night and morning. My room was one of the closest to the front of the hotel (the street side) while I could hear the loud music in the hall once I closed the door the sounds became muffled. If you have an issue with the sound they do offer ear plugs and such, I'm a pretty heavy sleeper and didn't have an issue blocking out the sound as I was falling asleep. Throughout my entire stay the staff was extremely attentive, especially Manuel, who helped with bags and settling into our room initially. The hotel has breakfast passes to a restaurant right around the corner from the hotel which is super convenient and adds an extra touch to a hotel that's not as big as others in the area. You can really tell they are committed to customer service and personalization. They also have special partnership with a beach club which is a short walk down the street to the beach. Be aware that the street the hotel is on is pedestrian only! You will have to be dropped off the the corner of the street probably 20 yards away from the hotel so if you have lots of luggage I suggest you call ahead and have someone meet you... the drop off street that is perpendicular to is kind of a busy one (coco bongo is right on the corner). So all in all my stay was fabulous! I felt pampered, comfortable, clean, and really enjoyed being right in the middle of ALL THE ACTION - major location perk! La Quinta Avenda was 30 yards away with all the notable clubs and bars being either to the right or left as you walk out of the hotel and a great view from the balconies that over look the busy and fun pedestrian filled street! This hotel is nothing like what I read in previous reviews! Great revamp In Fashion!
"Great location "
We stayed for 3 nights in the master suite, the room is so pretty, comfortable bed, great decoration and the pool was closed to the room. It also has a jacuzzi but it wasn't working properly when we stayed. Breakfast included although the restaurant is not in the hotel but just one block walking and it was fine. The staff was also friendly, I do recommend it to stay. We left the hotel in the morning and way to the airport of Playa del Carmen (7:00 am there was no traffic at all.)
Santos at the front desk was extremely accommodating! Second time here and you can't beat the location for night life! The hotel is updated and looks just like the website! Beach is a couple blocks away and breakfast was simple and great!
"If you know what you're getting into, you'll like it here"
This was my second stay at this hotel. I did a last minute solo trip to PDC over New Years and given the lack of availability of reasonably priced PDC hotel rooms over the holidays I decided to stay here again via an online deal. IN FASHION is a nicely priced boutique hotel given its location. When I booked for 4 nights for NYE2017, there were only the two last master suites available so I grabbed one of them. I stayed in Room 109 which is a great big suite, albeit too big for a solo guest. The decor overall is very minimalist in the rooms so there is a lot of space. The master suites are enormous and include a jacuzzi in the living space. The bathroom is separated only via a partition (that does not extend to the ceiling). Overall the space feels very open with limited bathroom privacy. This is an ideal layout for couples, but if you're staying here with friends, make sure you're comfortable with them watching you while you take a shower. Or alternatively take turns kicking each other out of the room when showering. Overall the master suite presents itself very well with a feel of luxury. There is a minibar stocked with beer, pop and snacks but it is not free. The decor is nice but you can tell the building overall is dated. The water pressure in the toilet and showers is very low. The shower water smelled a bit odd one night, but was OK the other times. My room had a double shower. Also included in the bathroom area were a closet, iron and a digital safe. Feels a little weird for these to be in the bathroom, but it suits their minimalist theme. The room looks like the hotel's professional photos. Note that all the room entrances overlook the main pool area. Thus there are no exterior windows in the rooms, except the ones at the front of the hotel overlooking 12th street. During my first stay I made note of a consistent horrible odour in the lobby which smelled like raw sewage. This time around the odor was barely noticeable in the morning but a hint of it still remains in the evenings. The person at the front counter informed me that the building has since been under new management and they've cleaned a lot of it out. One of the best attributes of this hotel is its location. It is likely one of the best located hotels in PDC for those who like action, nightlife and crowds. The hotel is located on 12th and 5th, right across from the entrance to the Thompson hotel. 12th and 5th is the heart of PDC's nightlife, with dozens of clubs within a 30 second walk of the hotel. Coco Bongo is literally a 10 second walk across the street. That though is also the main problem with this location. There are 5 nightclubs alone, within 20ft of this hotel's entrance. At night the dance music will start (it always does) and will go until 5 am. Although I think they've done some sound proofing in the rooms since I last stayed, it doesn't do much at night. For those who value their early sleep, this location may not be ideal. The hotel is open-air concept, so it's not closed in. Thus there is not much that can be done about the music. If you can sleep with noise cancelling headphones on though, they will muffle out most of the club music and allow you to sleep. Otherwise you will not be comfortable here. The rooms at the back of the hotel are slightly better shielded, but not by much. The front desk service was excellent, a lot better than last I stayed. The staff was always very courteous and helpful to my every request. Full marks for their attentiveness and politeness. Breakfast is offsite, a one minute walk away at a restaurant named come como. It was a good place to eat, with made to order breakfasts. For the free breakfast though you're limited to their hotel menu, which only had 3 main options. Still though it is a very good breakfast. Their beach club affiliation was with KOOLs. They'll give you a coupon for entry but you still have to pay a cover. But you get that back in food credits. I tried it one day but I still have a preference for Mamitas Beach club so I didn't use the option again. The hotel has a pool on the first floor and all hotel rooms overlook it. But the top of the structure is closed in, so no sun tanning is possible. The pool itself is not more than 3-4 ft deep though,it seemed more decorative than functional, but if you want a quick soak to cool down, it is there for you. WIFI was decent for phone apps and basic web surfing via a tablet. But for more intensive bandwidth activities like YouTube streaming, the wifi was a frustrating pain to get to stream stuff and thus not worth the effort. Overall I enjoyed my second stay here. I love the energy of PDC so the club noise was less of a concern to me. Although the LA FASHION building is dated , they've done a decent job masking it up with the decor and admittedly it does feel cleaner now , even in the rooms, compared to my first stay here. I will likely stay here again as long as the price is still reasonable. The location and rooms, for my tastes, are a good deal for this price range.
"A hotel with a lot of potential that unfortunately didn't completely deliver the experience i was hoping for"
I rented a Master Suite for one night, at a greatly discounted price of $100. The first impression of the hotel is outstanding. It looks nice from outside and when entering to check in, staff is waiting by the doors to open them for you. The reception area is beautiful and very artsy. First impressions are that it looks like an expensive hotel, and if you don't go through a booking site, it is, but i'll get back to that. Unfortunately the first impression wears off quickly. The hotel seems to be fairly new, which is where I believe, the main problem is. The staff, while very nice, doesn't seem to know what they are doing or how everything works. I attempted make an early check in at 11am, but was unable to. I was told staff was short and they needed time to clean the rooms. This was fine with me as we just decided to walk around playa del carmen and do some shopping. Finally at 2:30 I returned and was able to check in, which is where the problems started. For starters the brand new looking credit card machines barely seemed to work, literally took 5 minutes to get the machine to accept the card. AFTER signing the check in paperwork and paying for the room, the staff tells me I also need to pay a $50 deposit. This is something that the customer should be made aware of before checking in and ideally when booking the room. So after waiting a few hours to check in, we finally get our room. The staff actually takes you to your room, which is a very nice touch. However, the staff that checked me in apparently didn't bother looking at my actual booking as they had given me a normal room. I had to go back down to the lobby at which points the receptionist needed to look at the booking on my phone to see that it was indeed a master suite and not a regular room. Which made me think, maybe I could have checked in early as it appears they thought I was checking into a normal room and possibly the Master Suites were available at 11am. They switched me over quickly to the new room and again someone escorted me to my room. The Master Suites are very large(at least enough room for 4 king sized beds), nice colors and decorations throughout. However, the rooms have no windows, except one by the bed which is frosted and you can't see anything through it. One of the main reasons I got a Master Suite is that it had a jacuzzi. Well, for starters the standard controls on the jacuzzi didn't work. It simply had two light switches on the side that turned the jets on/off and I'm not exactly sure what the other one did. Problem is, you couldn't control the jet speed, water temperature or anything for that matter and only 2 of the 6 jets actually worked. So basically you had to jump in the jacuzzi and use it while the water you put in was still hot, because the jacuzzi couldn't heat the water. Another problem with the jacuzzi was that it was really dirty. After filling it with water, the moment I turned the jets on, all kinds of dirt and a few dead insects came out of the jets, to say the least, I didn't use the jacuzzi. A nice touch to the jacuzzi was that it had its own tv, which was great except the remote didn't do anything but turn it on and off.. Aside from those problems, the rooms are nice, big, clean and the beds are really comfortable. Although one odd thing, the smaller suites have nice huge balconies facing the street, the Master Suite, has none... Seems backward to me. And finally to the price I paid for the room. I paid $100 for one night on a booking site, the price in the hotel was a little over double, and that was on off season. The master suite, during high season is something like $500 a night. While the master suite is nice, I feel that $500 for a master suite with broken jacuzzi's isn't worth it. Overall an ok stay, but I don't feel the suites aren't worth the price and the staff really needs some more training for checking in.
