"Extremly loud, could not sleep until 4:30am or later"
We just stayed here for 4 nights and were disappointed. We've stayed in a few other Kimpton hotels but this was by far the worst. The most serious complaint is regarding noise levels. The room they gave us was on the 3rd floor, north side, facing W 48th street. Between the non-stop honking (seriously non-stop...semi's, cabs, garbage trucks) from the intersection of 48th and 11th, and from the two night clubs that are across the street (think fights and screaming at 4:15am when people are leaving the bar), we really struggled to sleep much at all. The noise came right into our room as if the windows were open. For the reputation that Kimpton has I'm really surprised they didn't install windows with better insulation. Aside from the noise the room was fine..but not up to par as compared to other Kimptons. Also note that this hotel is a 15-20 min walk to the nearest subway station, and the surrounding area isn't very nice. (aka Hells Kitchen) BTW parking is 65/day for hotel guests (no in-out privileges)
""But I don't want to leave""
I was heard to utter "But I don't want to leave" as I checked out. You may be asking yourself if it's "worth it" to stay here. It's not in the most popular area but that is what makes it great. The rooms are large for NYC, the sheets and towels are high quality, it's quiet and I LOVED room service. I will be back soon. As a single female I felt comfortable walking outside and loved the view of the Hudson even in the rain.
"Wedding in Heaven over hell suite/ Hudson River suite"
We flew to New York from London and stayed at Ink48 in September in the Hudson River suite for a week as we was holding our wedding reception in the heaven over hell suite. This included the night in the penthouse after the event. Where do I start the views from the Hudson River suite were absolutely breath taking, room decor was clean and fresh. the size of the room was absolutely huge which was great for family members to come over the morning of my wedding day whilst I got ready. We cannot recommend the heaven over hell venue enough, the views from our tables of the river was beautiful. The food was absolutely delicious and the size of the portions was good. The venue had three large tables with a total of 29 guests and a portable bar in the corner. We then surprised our guests with the large rooftop terrace with the most amazing view of the whole of the New York skyline. The whole evening was perfect from start to finish and we can't thank Andres the events manager enough for making our wedding reception one we would never forget. All our guests were blown away and amazed by the whole venue. If couples are looking for a venue for there wedding look no further. We will now not stay anywhere else when we return to NYC.
"Great City Hotel"
NYC is one of the toughest hotel cities globally (in my opinion), and I think Ink48 is a nice new addition. The rooms are beautiful and spacious (which is rare in NYC). Views are great. Rooftop bar is fantastic. Customer service Is typical Kimpton Standard - very friendly and personable and casual. 48th and 12th is a very random part of town - it's on the build but still kind of no mans land. Slight drawback l for business travel is that the bar is a bit of a scene so the doormen and bouncers tend to focus on the line rather than the guest at the door and elevators. But I'd definitely stay again!
"Pricey but, it's new york"
Comfortable room, definitely a lot of space and the interior of the rooms were great. Exactly what I come to expect from a Kimpton. That said, they need to modernize the door lock system. Also, if at all possible, check in before the douchey rooftop bar crowd shows up. Not much around the Ink48, if, for example, you're looking for a coffee or bagel shop for breakfast. No amenities are ever terribly far away from you in NYC, but the hotel felt a bit isolated.
