"All right Hotel"
The overall look (entrance, hallways, bar) is great. The room I had for the night was so so. I have seen better hotel rooms. On the first sight all was good, but it did smell slightly in the room as well as the bed looked quite cheap (slept well though). The whole hotel smells a bit like an Abercrombie & Fitch store which I found quite funny. All in all it was good, but with 100€ (inkl. breakfast) 20-30€ too expensive in my view.
"Great hotel when in Düsseldorf"
Great hotel when in Düsseldorf! I really enjoyed my stay there. I stayed at some Innside by Media before and I always loved it! Rooms and spa areas are spacious and clean, and the service is really good. When you book via their website, you also get this 15 euros voucher for drinks at the bar. I recommend it without any doubts. Caroline
"Lame. Just avoid, especially if you're (not-a-boozer) business traveller."
The hotel seems quite new and basically I have no problem with the cleanliness. It is not too far from the city center and close to tramway station, but that is the only possitive thing I can mention. The hotel only provides you free 100 MB for very slow speed (512 kbit/s), otherwise you'll have to pay extra 6 EUR / day. Seriously' That's total lame for business traveller, it's 2017 and I didn't realize that there are still 3*/4* chain hotel who's charging for internet in 2017. On the other side, if you're booking online, you'll get 15 EUR voucher that you can spend for getting drunk in their bar. And yes, you can only spend that 15 EUR in their bar - not for breakfast, spa, or whatsoever. After getting drunk, you won't be able to do your business and probably you won't need to pay that internet connection fee anyway. Perfect match with Southern European mentality, as the hotel is managed by Melia chains anyway - no booze no fun. Also, the reception invented some exotic rules like: you get Melia rewards points or frequent flyer miles only if your invoice is more than 99 EUR - which is just a total BS. Huh' Never heard that in T&C before. It is his imagination or just showing his lack of comptence' This hotel is just total lame. Spending >60 EUR a night and still asking for internet fee in 2017. There's NO way I'll be there again. For you out there who'd like to have free alcohols after work and getting wasted, this hotel might be a perfect one for you.
"Good hotel chain but misleading reservation policy, hotel does not honor the rate's conditions posted on website"
On October 2016, I was designated by the company I work for to make travel plans to attend the K Fair at Dusseldorf, I made reservations for 3 different Melia Hotels in Düsseldorf through the hotel's web page (Dusseldorf Melia, Derendorf Melia and Melia Seestern) knowing that I will have to cancel some of them since I had a complex reservation because there were several people in my party (8 in total) arriving and leaving at different times. My objective was to place everybody at the same location but by the time I completed one reservation for one group, there was no availability on the same hotel for the other parties so I had to check up availability at another Melia’s location. Since I knew from the beginning that some of the reservations will have to be cancelled I made sure I choose the most expensive option which will allow me to cancel with no penalties. So, I choose the Bed and breakfast, Payment at the hotel, Free cancellation rate the Melia hotel offered through its Webpage. According to the information posted on the hotel's site this unrestricted rate allows changes and cancellations free of penalties and charges. The cancellation penalty of 90% of the rate I choose applies ONLY if the customer cancels after 6 pm arrival day or are a no-show. I cancelled MY UNRESTRICTED RATE reservations more than one week in advance to arrival date. Unfortunately, to make the reservation I had to provide a credit card even though the payment for this rate is due when you show up at the hotel. Once our plans were definitive and got everybody in our party at the same Melia location I started making the cancellations for the reservations we did not need. Then, my nightmare started when the hotel sent me a mail notifying me that a charge of 90% of the total reservation cost (about 14.000 euros) was charged to my credit card as a penalty for cancelling the reservation less than 60 days in advance to the arrival date. I emailed them back explaining that there must be a mistake since I choose the UNRESTRICTED RATES because I needed the flexibility of cancelling some of the reservations without any penalties. The hotel has kept its negative answers regarding my complaints and have not to this date being able to clear up this mistake and have denied my complaints for credit card refunds. I kept and used the reservations we would use, and stayed at the Melia Derendorf location, spending about 9.000 Euros for 8 people for about 5 days, those are legitimate charges but the charges for the cancelled reservations are not. After sending many communications to the hotel and not having a positive answer to my complaints, I am still fighting my case with the credit cards and not having any other outlet to denounce these very unjust and unfair charges I have been forced to make my case through Trip Advisor to advise some other potential guests about the misleading reservation policy the Melia Hotels posts in its website. Hopefully, no other guests will have to go through what I have experienced.
""part time" hotel"
I have usually had good experiences with Innside Melia hotels but with this one management got it all wrong. We arrived on a Friday evening to be told that the (on their website very predominantly advertised) restaurant was closed because their weren't enough guests in the hotel. Bar menu' Negative - kitchen closed... The bar also closed early (23:00) that evening because - you've guessed it - not enough guests in the opinion of the management. This is all wrong ! You are either a hotel and therefore; offer the full range of services no matter how occupied the hotel is or you are something else and offer your services as and when you "feel" like it. At the very least the hotel website should state that restaurant and bar opening days/hours can vary. Having an early-ish flight the next (Saturday) morning we checked with staff when breakfast would be served at 08:00 on a Saturday. Pity - too late for us and we decided to have breakfast at Dusseldorf airport. We left the hotel around 07:00 and to our great disappointment serving breakfast was in full swing already then. Was this a matter of management having decided based on the "feeling of the day" or just a misinformed member of staff' Either way; not good ! Once this hotel has decided whether it wants to be a B&B or a real hotel I may be back.
