most amazing holiday ever here, a bit away from city centre but was so easy to get to and it allowed us to explore different areas and they were so helpful. Pool area is the best part and the rooms are so clean and perfect size. Couldn't recommend enough
"2 nights Amsterdam"
Enjoyed hotel, this very distinct building within commuting distance of down town Amsterdam, just less than 30 min train drive. The indoor pool and leisure facilities where great used the gym pool and sauna. Then relaxed in comfortable couches. It was surreal after using facilities and standing looking through Windows at people having meals and shopping and hanging out in the cold while I was standing just in my swimming shorts.
"Can't wait to go back"
I stayed here whilst on a TopDeck tour in July 2015. This hotel is one of the only ones I remember as it stands out with its quirky design and just the amazing stay I had whilst here. It's close to the train station where you can just hop on and catch a train straight into Amsterdam. The room I stayed in was so great, the beds were super comfortable, and the bathtub was to die for. I still talk about this hotel today and how I cannot wait to come back. The breakfast offered was beautiful, and had a nice selection. Lovely clean room, but not much of a view, which didn't matter to me. I had some of my best nights sleeps at this hotel.
We stayed here for three nights in September. It is a lovely hotel. Really quirky from the outside. It is literally two minutes walk to the entrance from the train station (you can see the hotel as soon as you walk out of the station entrance). We upgraded rooms so ours came with a whirlpool bath and sauna in the bathroom. A great touch. Everywhere was spotless and the staff couldn't have done more for us. This hotel is about 12 minutes on the train to Amsterdam with regular trains through to the early hours. And if you arrive back to the hotel really late and the bar has closed you can always get a couple of small bottles of wine from the vending machines in the hotel. Brilliant idea and great to sip when have a midnight sauna. Definitely upgrade to the sauna rooms. We booked on Expedia and it only worked out about £70 more for the weekend we were there. Zandaam has a lovely area 5 minutes walk from the hotel with lots of bars and restaurants which are open late. It was a lovely place to sit with the biggest glass of gin and tonic I have ever had and people watch. It also has a great shops for you to wander round. Amsterdam itself is a beautiful city. First time visitor and I loved it. Will definitely be back.
"Visually attractive from outside, but room too noisy for restful sleep"
The good stuff: The hotel is visually stunning from outside, and this carries into the reception area. Hotel is very clean throughout and staff all friendly + welcoming. Swimming pool area / steam + sauna is clean and good supply of towels (though could do with a clothes drier / spinner). Room is clean, with ample towels and a great backdrop of Zaandam's heritage. The hotel is situated right next to Zaandam railway station (less than 5 minutes from hotel room to station platform), and also next door to cinema and large shopping area. The bad stuff When it rained (constant drizzle Monday / Tuesday nights), there was noise of water dripping onto roof of room. My room overlooked the road / railway and i could hear these constantly through the night. The air-conditioning in the room was noisy. Whilst outside / reception all visually attractive, the bedroom / bathroom had a suspended ceiling - perhaps why sound proofing so bad. The television is immediately at the foot of the kingsize bed. However, being 6"7, I could not stretch out properly in the bed - having to lie diagonally to try get comfortable. Due to location, I would stop here again, but next time ask for a room overlooking shopping area (away from noise of traffic and railway) and on a lower floor.
