"3 nights of excellence"
Great atmosphere. Very classy hotel, nice rooms, great bathroom. Loved the spa. Makes me happy to be an IHG Rewards member. Good check in - good check out. I'll return, for sure ! Didn't get a chance to eat there but I'm sure the meal would have been excellent as well.

Stayed for 5 nights, it was wonderful stay. Nice location, professional and friendly staff, spacious rooms and bathrooms, very clean hotel rooms and other hotel facilities, reasonable value compare with service. The executive suite is perfect.
"A Thanksgiving Getaway"
The hotel would have easily gotten six stars from us. The front desk, concierge, suite and the service were all impeccable. However, in a city of AMAZING restaurants, we decided that one night, we would eat in the hotel at La Rive. Having been told by the hotel staff (and online recommendations) that it was not to be missed, we headed to the restaurant. It was empty at the time and the maitre'd sat us at the exit door at a "downsized" table that was still meant to seat 4-6 people. My husband and I would have looked absurd sitting there. We politely asked the maitre'd to be moved to another table, to which he responded "there aren't any others, all have been reserved." We found it hard to believe that ALL the tables were specifically reserved, so we inquired at the concierge. He came down to ask the maitre'd (who was rude to him) and refused to move us to any other table that would have been suitable for two in the empty restaurant. We decided that we had enough and left to dine elsewhere (Bord'eaux is not to be mossed!). The staff of the hotel could not have been nicer or more apologetic and they were wonderful. I believe that the restaurant is separate from the hotel (although I believe still owned by InterContinental) and as I said, the hotel bent over backwards to try to help us. All in all, The Amstel is one of the best hotels in the world with top notch everything, except of course, their "fine dining" restaurant. The bar and bar staff, however, is amazing. We will be back again.

My wife and I just finished four days at this hotel. Perfect from every perspective: the rooms are large, soundproof, high-ceilinged and combine old world elegance with every modern convenience. And the service exceeds the perfect hotel. Never pretentious, from the concierge to check-in (thank you, Monique!) to the restaurant staff and housekeeping - always helpful and always a genuine smile. And the A-Bar - well, let's just say it is A+. The bartenders - that word does not do Sebastian and his colleague Jurom justice - are professionals and built a series of custom drinks that reflect the eight districts of the City (ask them about the history of gin. AND THE VIEWS: SPECTACULAR - right on the Amstel within walking distance to the Old Town and easy access to everything: our hotel choice every visit to Amsterdam...
"Wonderful hotel and excellent service"
Excelente stay, service and staff. I highly recommend this hotel with spacious rooms, on the Amstel river. We arrived early and the staff were accommodating and allowed us to check in early. Great location.
