"Brilliant staff service rooms and food "
Wonderful service from the minute you drive in till you leave - Club floor is great with good selection of food for breakfast and late afternoon snacks and drinks . Only small issue is the room aircon system takes a long while to cool the room. Super location next to the convention centre . Only issues is the adjoining walk walks they had the escalators turn off '''' Crazy . But good exercise just hard with with lots of bags . Thanks again .
"This is a nice hotel in Asia"
not a huge fan of Asia. This hotel was perfect. The club floor was a great respite when on China Overload! The hotel room was large and comfortable for my family of three. We will always stay in Intercon's when we can!
"A nice place to stay if you have meeting in national conference center"
The location is a bit far away from tourist zone and central old town, while it is just next door to National Conference Center, and in the mega size of Olympic Park. Several interesting museums in the park, as well as many sports facilities, which open to public now after 2008 Olympic Games. Tried one night dinner in the Chinese restaurant at GF, and it is delicious. Recommended.
"Good business or holiday hotel"
Convenient location. Beijing is huge so it's wise to get a hotel where your business in Beijing is nearby. The Intercontinental is very comfortable, service is great with translators for the taxis - much needed as very few taxi drivers speak English. Restaurant and bars are fine and the hotel is a western style
"Accessible luxury and travel tips"
I was n Beijing for 3 days and chose to stay in 2 hotels - one in Sanlitun for a friend and one in Sanyuanqiao because of its accessibility to Haidian Qu and the Airport express. The Intercontinental was a delight at a price of course! The lobby lounge was an open area dressed as a library. In the evenings they had modern fire places all lit up. The room was unusual as you entered through the bathroom. You opened the door to a landing space and then via the bathroom to the bedroom. The room was beautifully decorated and had every amenity you needed - bathrobe, slippers, shoe shine, well stocked fridge, liquor and an espresso machine... The hotel had several F&B outlets, a massage/spa and a well equipped gym. Just outside you're in the heart of Sanlitun area which is touristy but offers a variety of international and local cuisine, shops and entertainment. Most will speak some smattering of English. Taxis are plentiful and cheap. In Beijing I've yet to be taken advantage of even tho I'm an overseas born Chinese and hardly speak Mandarin. A few travel tips in China: 1) carry small change ($1,10,20,50) - most things don't cost that much, 2) make sure you carry cash as most Chinese owned restaurants etc don't accept foreign credit cards (in any form visa, MasterCard etc), 3) print out your addresses in Chinese so that people can read and help you (most biz addresses are a confusion to taxi drivers) 4) the airport express is not well networked to taxis, only well networked to subway routes and bus stops 5) for women travelers, bring walking shoes! Beijing is v safe for female travelers.
