"Business trip in Olympic Park"
Great international service. (Non-chinese speaker in Beijing for first time) Good breakfast for western tastes. Hotel is right next to subway and also a mall. Great views of Bird's nest and water cube. Decent fitness center and coffee in the downstairs bar. Not many western channels on the TV, but otherwise had a great experience. I would recommend joining the hotel membership for free wifi (which supports international VPN) and premiere views.
"lots of amenities, but not up to 5star level"
This is a very fancy and very expensive hotel. At this price level (about 300 USD/night, after taxes and service charges) perfection should be the average. This hotel delivers in many ways: nicely appointed rooms (see photo), prompt service, efficient staff, quiet hallways, high-tech gadgets, and fails in others: slow internet, spotty room service, inexperienced front desk personnel. Like everywhere else in Beijing, security is obsessive; hotel personnel looks you over as you approach the elevators and you must use your (electronic) room key to direct the elevator to your floor and no other. The reception and concierge personnel is a mixed bunch: some are knowledgeable and eager to help, other seem to have been hired the day before and are unsure what to do and what services are included (or not). I confess to have wondered if some of the smiling ladies were really working for the hotel or for whatever the chinese spy agency is called, so inexperienced they appeared about the hospitality industry. Most staff understands at least simple english. Breakfast is abundant and very good to a western taste: cooked-to-order eggs, plenty of fruit juice, meats, cheeses, dry goods; I never felt the need for more. Room cleaning ranges from excellent to insufficient: most days it was perfect, until a blister on my foot bled overnight. I did not notice the stains in the morning, and neither did the cleaning crew, who proceeded to remake the bed using the dirty bedsheets (see photo). at least, I hope it was my own blood stained sheet that was used, and not a dirty sheet that came from someone elses’s room. In either case, this type of oversight should not happen in a 5-star hotel. I liked the spacious bathroom with both tub and stand-in stall, and the rain-shower plumbing. The room was very quiet, indicating excellent sound-proofing in the windows.
"Good Business Hotel"
This is the third time staying here for business trips. Generally it's a nice hotel with a delicious Italian restaurant. However, there were 2 issues happened during our stay. I asked the Concierge to reserve me some seats at a bar for my guests in Guomao area and a car to get us there before I headed out in the morning, however, when we finished meeting and got back to the hotel, I called to the bar to double check our reservation, and was told there's nothing reserved from the hotel. I was very upset and went talk to the concierge, and their Chief Con Tony came out and said the guy in the morning forgot to make the reservation nor the car, and now he'll do it for us. Fortunately there were still seats available so we just went to the car. I asked Tony to charge the ride to my room, but my coworker didn't hear it and gave money to the driver, the driver took the cash immediately and put it in pocket. After I told the doorman the driver took the cash, the driver just gave us an attitude and was ramping the car on the street. We may go back one more time given their great location and hopefully they will improve.
I just stayed one night in business purpose. The hotel is really nice, big and clean rooms. The buffe was really good. Also check in and out very smooth. This hotel is located near the bird nest, also easy to come from the airport.
"My Favorite Hotel"
I have already explained how great I think this hotel is. I have stayed here six weeks in the last nine months. I stay in a lot of hotels but this is my favorite anywhere. The staff are well trained and friendly and the rooms are quiet and comfortable. I write this to give some tips to make things even better for the newcomer. First, there is a Starbucks adjoining the hotel, just go out the backdoor and it is right there. Second, there is a shopping mall underground within a couple hundred meters called Xin Au. OK but fun for people watching. Don't worry, they are watching you too. Third, both the Chinese restaurant and the Italian restaurant in the hotel are excellent. Fourth, there is a major eating area near the corner of AnLiLu and Datun only two dollar taxi ride away. Fifth, the subway is easy and there is a stop only a couple hundred metres away. You can go anywhere on the subway. Go to Indigo Mall and Sanlitun.
