"Excellent but you pay for the luxury!"
This is a very good hotel in a great location - 10 minutes walk from the harbor and aquarium, less than 5 mins to the Tea Party Museum (which is excellent) and about 15 minutes into downtown and theatre district. We paid for Club Lounge access which provided a modest buffet breakfast, tea, coffee and cookies all day and drinks (wine, beers and some spirits) and a small snack / dessert selection in the evening. The lounge itself looked out over the road - would have been nice to have a harbor view for the money! Our "superior king" had the same road view, so not what was superior about it - but it was a good sized room with a large TV, small "office" area and a decent bathroom with separate shower and bath. The concierge service was the best part of staying here - they couldn't have been more helpful and did everything we asked with enthusiasm and a smile. To be fair Boston seems like a very friendly city anyway and service in all the sites and restaurants we visited were most helpful and friendly. We stayed here 5 nights and paid a reasonable amount of money for the pleasure so we were disappointed to have to pay for a late check-out as we had an evening flight. Most top end hotels give small perks like this to "longer staying" guests, but we seemed to pay for absolutely everything here. 5 nights in a superior king with club lounge access cost me just over $3,500 so be aware of the prices if you are considering this one.
"Great option in Boston, benefits of a large hotel, feel of a smaller one."
Terrific staff from front door to housekeeping, always a warm reception. Despite navigating hundreds of guests Ryan at front desk greeted me by name when I stopped by with a question mid-visit, nice touch not often seen in larger properties. Located near financial district and several tourist destinations. Rooms were spacious, clean, decent view. Solid onsite dining/lounge options. Great gym/pool in open above-ground location, not tucked away in the basement. Large venue without the mega-hotel negatives. Note if you can't get a taxi right away there is an onsite private driver (Sal) that charges reasonable rates. Good value for what's on offer. Cross the bridge and try "Drink"; great atmosphere.
I can't say enough positive things about the hotel. Check in a breeze. Pleasant front desk. Room on the 11th floor facing the park (did request a water view...my only disappointment). Elevator whisked me up to almost the top of the hotel. Upon entrance into the room, I was greeted with a beautiful marble shelf perfect for keys, glasses, and wallet...and an elegant tiled floor. The bathroom luxurious and nicely equipped ...soaking tub, glass walled shower, and lovely soaps and shampoo. Also a lit sliding partition into the bedroom was an added touch for both privacy and atmosphere. The bedroom area was truly lovely. A large cloud like king bed, firm yellow velvet-type chaise, a winged purple library chair, large desk area, and 60" tv was placed upon the dresser....perfection. The linens were crisp and clean, and the feather duvet, perfect for pleasant dreams! The concierge, Britany, was a delight. She made reservations for us at a very busy theatre district restaurant for Saturday night. Breakfast was delicious....lobster omelet....yummm! I was able to check out and store my luggage late into the evening, which was a much needed perk. HIGHLY recommend this hotel!
"The place to stay in Boston"
A truly outstanding hotel for so many reasons. Ideally located, within easy walking distance of so many key attractions that brilliant Boston has to offer, including the Hop On, Hop Off bus stop. Our rooms were immaculately clean and very spacious. Definitely worth upgrading to a city view and the Club Lounge. Would also recommend asking for a room on the third floor or higher. The rooms are very well equipped, including high quality toiletries which are replenished every day. Only thing I couldn't get to grips with was the in-room coffee making machine, so would suggest taking a travel kettle if, like me, a cup of tea is essential first thing in the morning! All the staff, from room servicing to reception, Club Lounge and concierge are a real credit to this hotel. Concierge in particular can help with anything and everything you need to know about Boston and will even print out maps and directions - their knowledge of the city and willingness to help is astounding. Simply cannot recommend this hotel highly enough and plan to return for another stay in the not too distant future.
"Intercontinental Hotel in Boston"
This is a great hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I had mentioned in an email to the concierge that we were celebrating our 25th anniversary. When we arrived there were chocolate covered strawberries and a nice bottle of champagne waiting for us, along with a nice note signed by the concierge staff. They were very helpful with recommendations of places to go and restaurants to eat. The rooms were spacious and very clean. We would defintely stay there again!
