"Excellent hotel, friendly staff, awesome food and location"
I got sent to this hotel by American Airlines after their flight was oversold. I don't think I ever stayed in a hotel this fancy before. I arrived at 1AM and they had room service with dinner covered by the hotel. They had a chicken breast and a salad plus a brownie for dessert. The next day the breakfast and lunch were incredibly diverse and tasty. I have no idea what this hotel goes for as far as price but if it is in your range I would definitely recommend it!
"Beautiful hotel, fabulous beds!"
The InterContinental Hotel in Buenos Aires is a lovely and very beautiful hotel. The room is very nicely done and the beds are extremely comfortable! Like sleeping on a layer of clouds! Wonderful! Fabulous shower with hot water and large tub to soak in if you wish. Not many English channels so bring your computer to work or play on if you don't speak Spanish. Room service was quite good and the hotel has a lovely wine store on the Lobby floor with fabulous selections of local wines from Argentina. Malbec and Torrentos being a favorite of mine. Make sure you have empanadas while you are there! They are fabulous in Buenos Aires! Just yummy! In Buenos Aires, as in any large city in the world, do watch out forf pick pockets and know the area you are in. Don't wear expensive jewelry or watches. Take approved cabs if off hours or on weekends when the city isn't as busy when the locals are in the city for work and the city is full of people.
"A GREAT HOTEL – FANTASTIC BREAKFAST."
This hotel is BRILLIANT. Everything during our two day stay was good. The reception was slick. We were in room 1309. This I a large room with a king sized bed. The bathroom was one of the largest I have had in any hotel. It contained a large shower cubicle with a powerful shower and a large separate bath. The bathroom mirror was one of the largest that I have seen in a hotel. The only negative thing was the tops. The hotel would save much by installing push up mixer taps. I feel that too much water is wasted with the current taps. There was very little noise. The hotel was clean. Breakfast was SUPBERB. With a huge selection of fresh fruit, cheeses, eggs etc. I must single out the brown sliced whole wheat bread. It was the best I had during my South American tour. Besides, the finishing touch was having Smoked Salmon and bottles Carver in a bucket; where you could help your self, to as much as you wanted.
"Good but not perfect! "
All in all, the stay at this hotel has been pleasant. Rooms are clean, spacious and very comfortable. The service in the hotel is good but not as extraordinarily as in other five stars hotels. An upgrade to Club level is definitely worth it. The rooms on the upper floors offer a beautiful view over Buenos Aires and the Club Lounge offers a delicious selection of food and drinks in the early evenings. As in other cities, you can't go wrong with a hotel of an international brand, the Intercontinental is a solid choice for a stay in the city. However, given the vast option of excellently-rated boutique hotels in Buenos Aires, next time I'd probably try another option.
We booked this hotel for one night as a stopover between flights and since we got such a good rate, we didn't have any major expectations. The hotel may not be located in the nicest area of BA, but the service was excellent from check-in to check-out. The concierge was professional and helpful in making dinner reservations and the hotel offers a free shuttle in the evening to bring you to a couple of restaurants. The room we had was sufficient and clean. I believe some areas of the hotel had a soft refurbishment, so although the building is older, it felt fresh. For £100 you can't complain and I would book the hotel again.
