I went to check out the buffet here at the InterContinental, and I'll just say the staff are very wonderful. The buffet didn't have that many options, but the options they had were great. I would just like the food to be a bit more temperature hot, it was pretty cold in the building. I do have to say that maybe the buffet could let guest know drinks aren't included. I got charged for tea, water, and two glasses of wine. Any other international buffet wine is the only charge. The dessert portion needs a huge upgrade, was a bit disappointed there. On a final note, the fresh bread was divine.
"InterContinental Cairo Semiramis"
The hotel is elegant and comfortable; take a room with Nile view; the Egyptian Museum within walking distance in 15 min; the friendly and polite staff; inside many fine restaurants:Thai, Lebanese, Italian restaurant (Pane e Vino with Hanna that was very very friendly and nice) and the Terrace restaurant.
"Most Warm and Special Experience"
This place defintely holds between its walls the nicest and most attentive staff ever! Everyone is so helpful and smiling and efficient. The nile view is to die for and the variety of restaurants they have makes any guest find what they like. Whether its asian dinner un the bird cage amazing Pizza and Pasta at Pane Vino or even their Nile view Night and Day buffet. If you like luxury, then you should definitely wine and dine in their beautiful nile view fine dinning restaurant "The Grill" Just go there, it's great!
"This hotel needs proper management and ASAP"
1st time in Cairo, We went for an international brand like the Intercontinental . The situation is great and the vue on the Nile is a plus but if you expect spotless rooms by international standards, you will be disappointed. Rooms are old and cleaning is far from thorough. Dust is piled up behind the furniture. Staff is nice but not trained by management. F and B like, same issue, staff is really nice but not properly trained. Too many staff in the breakfast room and no proper service. Cleanliness is optional here as well.... Consistency is very difficult to achieve in room service, although they tend to accomodate (I m a long stay), the soup is never the same and what you can order on the menu depends highly on the order taker of the day. This hotel needs proper management and ASAP to be able to compete with the other 5 stars brands
"Very nice Hotel in a very good location!"
Due to business reasons did I end up staying here for more than one week and I have to say that the staff and service at this hotel is very very good for Egyptian standards. The location of the hotel was also very good and only a 5 minute walk away from the Egyptian museum. The hotel offers several restaurants (Thai, Lebanese, Italian, Buffet and Oriental food served on the terrace). My room was on the 10th floor and facing the Nile river which was very nice but since the terrace is also facing the Nile river it can be loud at times but since Cairo is one of the most blustering cities I have ever been it does not really make any difference. The hotel also offers a Casino a shopping arcade, tea room and coffee shop. The food is very nice but can be heavy, i personally recommend to have some digestion tablets on you! The pool and gym facilities are also quite nice, however the gym was under construction so they offered a temporary option on the 2nd floor. The massage was nice but is not really up to European standards (no music and there are no options for massage therapies) All in all a very good experience, I would recommend this hotel to friends and family without hesitation.
