"restaurants are incredible"
I have mix-feelings about this hotel, we travel as a group , you can imagine 20 americans in cairo , first the wait just to get inside the hotel ,all those security points, I understand but is like the airport, so after that ,you enter and the hotel is a beauty 5 stars resort with a pool ,casino ,restaurants ,etc. my mixed feelings are that the service at the reception was awful, they wanted to took our luggage and then 2 hours later we found them in front of my room , not even inside'!'! so i couldn't try the pool because my swimsuit was in my luggage, then don't bother ask anything to concierge ,she doesn't help at all and the attitude awful, the funny thing is the hotel looks really nice (5 stars) for that type of service(2 stars) , but then when you took tours you always have security guards with you, so that's ok Now about the rooms we have a non-smoking king size bed room, it was great, the room size actually big , and always clean, and no smells, every where else in the hotel is just a smoking lounge , but i guess is more cultural than optional , because people in cairo smoke all the time ,all day ,even in front of kids and during dinner, now the real reason for this review are the restaurants, we try some, and we fall in love with the service (only in the restaurants) and the food ...so good. *Cafe Corniche: you can have from cafe and dessert to sandwiches, salads or a really good fresh sushi, note service here not that good and bring small bills if you paid in cash. *Birdcage: asian ,thai restaurant, food really good ,ambiance excellent and great service *Sabaya:lebanese, mediterranean , the service in this restaurant was amazing , thanks for the head waiter Moussa M. for our first lebanese experience *The grill restaurant: the food was incredible, don't be afraid to try new things ,it's that good. and the view amazing *the buffet for breakfast had so many options, really good I also notice a lot of locals go to dine in the hotel, so maybe that mean that you are not missing to much not adventuring in cairo looking for street foods, and the plus side we didn't get sick.
"Great service but rooms are a bit stuffy"
GOOD POINTS 1. Staff are very kind and friendly 2. They speak good English 3. The breakfast is good. I enjoyed the juice options. 4. If your room is facing the Nile, you will have breathtaking views. BAD POINTS 1. Room is a bit old and stuffy. 2. The carpet smells like cigarette smoke.
"Terrible, 0 ⭐️, AVOID AVOID"
For quality room and good service AVOID this hotel.... overall service is absolutely terrible 00000 stars hotel. Awful experience - for going over my initial deposit (USD 1000) the management locked me out without notice. Upon returning from a long day in the office and unable to access the evaluator I approached the front office only to be told "the battery in the door lock has died". My natural reaction was to ask, how do you know that when I cannot get passed the elevator without a key' their response was "oh the battery has died and we need to send someone with a physical key to open the door, but first you need to make further deposit". After depositing additional USD 1000 they given me a new key card and informed me to wait for someone to escort me to the room to open the door. I refused to believe the battery was the cause and didn't wanted to wait around so I declined the offerer and headed up to the room only to find the door is locked from the outside with a physical key. Reluctantly, I contacted the reception requesting for someone to come up and open the door. Surely someone did turn up after 15 minutes and opened the door. Nothing was wrong with the lock and the battery wasn't dead. Simply the door was locked with a key from the outside. Upon entering the room, looking forwarded to having the nice warm shower, you guessed it the room hasn't been cleaned, no fresh towels, the bed hasn't been made - no one has entered the room. After complaining to the management they all stuck to the same story. Why lie''''''' Avoid this hotel. Avoid avoid avoid
* They asked me for 100$ deposit during check-in while its 600 EGP on TripAdvisor or Booking.com. * They called me from reception to tell me that I'm not allowed to receive guests in my room in daylight 10am while my guest is already in my room, then I had to ask him to go to the restaurant just to talk after many years.
"Great place to stay right on the River Nile"
Living up to the Intercontinental name, the hotel was very good. Located at Tahrir Sq. within 5 minutes of the Egyptian Museum, it has brilliant views over the Nile. Good place for the city-center part of our vacation. Several of Cairo's top 5 restaurants are located within the hotel, so this was a big plus. The Thai restaurant was outstanding with uniquely presented dishes. It's worth noting that the concierge desk is kind of useless; and the buffet restaurant is overly busy - they need to do something about that.
