"Oh Dear, Never Again!!"
I stayed for two nights in a Club room, paying over $220 per night. Although the room was probably once rather elegant, this has evidently not been true for quite some time. There was mold all over the bathroom ceiling, the shower head was broken, the bottom of the door was cracked and splitting and had just been roughly painted over instead of mended, two of the electrical sockets were coming out of the wall, and the bedroom furniture was dirty, scratched and stained. The cane balcony furniture had a few small remnants of its varnish, but not many. Although on a 'non smoking' floor, the room and all the public areas, including all of the Club, reeked of tobacco smoke. Speaking with the manager, he was clearly weary of hearing this kind of feedback and basically disinterested. His best remedy was to offer an upgrade for a future visit, but firstly, I wasn't offered my Ambassador upgrade entitlement on this visit, and secondly, there won't be a next time! Property is best summed up as 'Oh dear, never again.' As an IHG Spire Ambassador, this was not the Intercontinental experience I am used to. The one positive experience in this hotel was the Thai restaurant. Great food and service, and the extractor fans do a good job of neutralizing the cigarette smoke.
Everything was as advertised. Worth the fare charged, good location, nice restaurants within the hotel grounds. Good food, especially if you like Italian. Pity there is no smokers area. People are free to smoke anywhere.
"Between the Nile and Tahrir square"
The hotel has excellent location, it is a smokers paradise and a non smokers nightmare, I can't believe that Intercontinental allows smoking inside its restaurants just because the country law doesn't prohibit it! The rooms were clean, quiet and comfortable, the food was excellent, the parking is a ripoff of over 250 Egyptian pounds per night for residents!
"Feeling always at home"
Excellent hotel with great staff particularly the ones working at the 18 floor club lounge.I really look forward to come back to Cairo to receive this warm hospitality. Also the choice of the restaurant is great .best food in Cairo especially the Thai restaurant. Would definitely recommend this hotel to all my friends and colleagues. Riad Sabra
"Excellent Business Hotel"
Was promptly received by the hotel rep at the airport. Driven to hotel and the gentleman at the reception Michele was excellent a true hotelier. The room was amazing I enjoyed every bit of the view. The hotel staff are fantastic. I liked the operator they pickup after one ring anytime you call them. I wish they fix the wifi was on and off . Otherwise I left very satisfied.
