"Horrible Experience "
The hotel room was dusty, the window had oil marks from people's imprint and hair in the shower. Not to mention the three bedroom arrangement was ghetto and slammed up against the closet not allowing access. The first impression was the arrogance of Dana the receptionist who was super rude and uninviting as my father is the frequent customer of IGC hotels and booked the hotel for us. She didn't want to us (his wife and daughter) the room because he wasn't here and to be frank we have NEVER had this issue since 1983. When we went to tell Dana to please change our room, she refused to help us at all and brought Vlada (the current manager apparently) she threatened my senior mother that they have done her a favor by letting her stay here under her husbands name. My mom said you don't have to have that attitude towards me and they chuckled at her. I am appalled at how unprofessional and horrible this place is to stay, not to mention unhygienic.
"20 something floor 1 star motel claiming to be a 5 star hotel"
we stayed at the waldorf in jerusalem prior to checking in. our room was 2.5 hours late to being ready. the front desk offered us a snack and a beverage as a consultation prize. the service at the lobby restaurant was horrific and the food average at best. upon inspection of our club level room the appearance of the entry door looked extremely scratched , nicked and gauged with cracked and missing paster around the perimeter and by looking around every entry was in similar condition. the tv screen had been purposely scratched in multiple places, the counter it rested on noticably sagged. the tile in the foyer in bath must have been replaced at some point because the door casing was at least an inch short in these areas and hastily filled in with caulk.the rest of the room was in similar condition. the sheets were very scratchy and the mattress felt more like a boxspring with a mattress pad on top. the breakfast food was unremarkable although the china and glasses were not carefully cleaned and had residual remnants of prior use. we assured by the hotel staff that pets were strictly prohibited, but the room next to us, housed a small dog that would bark during the day and night. the entire staff that we encountered with the exception of ian the matre d, had a semi zombie like demeanor-seemingly "just putting in the hours". the location was convenient but directly in the flight path of arriving planes which approached to all hours of the morning. the overall vibe of the property is that the owner is sucking out every last shekel of revenue and is only willing to reinvest what is absolutely necessary to keep the property functional. comically, the waldorf's rates were not too dissimilar to the subject and accepting that the waldorf is truly a 5 star resort, who ever graded the IC david as a 5 star as well, was paid handsomely to do so. other than everything and more to the above, i highly recommend it.
"Hurting the Intercontinental Brand: Bad Service, Questionable Security"
This hotel appears to be run by unseasoned hoteliers. The front desk is populated by inexperienced staff bearing "Apprentice" badges. Their inexperience shows, though most are friendly; they just haven't been trained. Within two hours of checking into our room, a strange man walked in unannounced, then quickly scurried out. After nearly 2 hours of investigation, which revealed that the security cameras in the hallway were NOT working, security determined it was a poorly trained staff person that entered our room. Not exactly comforting during the first night of our first trip to Israel. The "half off" of that night's room rate didn't make us feel any safer. But there was no place else to go, as all the other hotels were booked for Passover. Finally, I returned an item to the spa and was informed that I had to wait two days for a refund because their "manager" was not in. Since I was leaving before the manager's return, I was promised that the credit would appear on my credit card when I returned home. I'm still waiting. The hotel kept nearly $200 of my money and never followed through. To the Intercontinental corporate brand officers: provide the training necessary to staunch the ongoing damage to your brand by this poorly-run outfit, or sell it. In the meantime, please address the issue of the unresolved return to the hotel's spa so that I don't have to dispute it with Amex. Thank you.
"Hotel Sets the benchmark for others to follow"
This is our fourth visit as a family to this hotel and improvements are clearly visible. IHG status along with Ambassador status is fully recognised. The hotel has improved the WIFI signal which remains good even in the pool area. Bellboys are visible at the entrance and the Vallet Parking is highly efficient and reliable. The hotel is fortunate in that it has had the same General Manager for the last 14 years. David Cohen, is extremely hands on and has some exceptional departmental heads who put the guest first. A very special mention to Ian Young who works tireless to ensure guests expectations are fully met. He cares passionately that guests receive everything they require promptly and efficiently. Nothing really is too much trouble for him. Other staff who enhanced our visit include Motti and Janet in the Executive Lounge. It is worth paying for this additional ammenity which is a great place to relax and unwind throughout the day. The guests relations team which includes Elena and Ethan, worked hard and ensured nothing was too much trouble. The pool area gets busy as is exppected during high season. Pool snacks were prepared promptly and served hot. Natalya is a great addition to the Poolside catering team and she also helped ensure prompt service at breakfast. The pool side staff did not monitor poolside sun beds. One party took 20 beds and did not appear for 3 hours. Really beds should be available as people need them, and possesions collected after 1 hour if the beds are not needed. The conciege desk is located next to the hotel shops. It is manned throughout the day and the staff are very knowledgeable. Their recommendations are sound. Housekeeping on the whole is efficient. During our 10 day visit turndown service was erratic and inconsistent. As a family we would recommend this hotel and look forward to returning.
"Nice hotel-very crowded for Passover"
Rooms were ready at noon when we arrived. Staff was friendly and helpful. But worn looking. Rooms had just been updated so 2 of 3 rooms showers leaked. One was corrected the other had to be changed. Rooms were comfortable as well as beds. Totally booked and crowded and noisy in public rooms due to Passover holiday. Food was so, so. Pool was not heated. But across from beach so easy walk across. Good facilities- spa, pool, small excercise room, all day snack room. Free wifi for IG members, easy to join.
