"Relaxing Stay in a Crazy City"
I have been to Hanoi about 10 times in the last several years. I always stayed in the heart of old town. This time, I stayed at the Intercontinental Westlake and was pleasantly surprised. It is quiet. The staff are very helpful and courteous. It is an oasis in the middle of all the hectic, a refuge. I will come back.
"An oasis of calm with excellent service"
I have just completed a 5 night stay at the Intercontinental as part of a group of delegates attending a conference here and can thoroughly recommend it. The hotel is located away from the city centre and hence the hustle and bustle (and traffic) surrounding it, but is close enough that you can take a taxi into the old town at a reasonable price and a short journey time (outside rush hours). The rooms are organised into blocks - the main hotel block containing the majority and others being located on ‘islands’ that are reached by short walkways from the main hotel area. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable. Those on the ground floor of the main block (even numbers ~110-120) are on the same level as and face the pool so don't have as much privacy as those on higher levels, their odd numbered counterparts (other side of the hall) are slightly below the road level and so can be overlooked (although at a distance). I stayed in an even numbered room poolside without any concern, in fact the cover of the trees outside was rather nice. The level of service was excellent throughout. I met the Executive Assistant Manager, Daniel Solombrino, early in my stay and was most impressed by the professional interest that he and his staff took in our experience of the hotel. The Diplomat Lounge is a pleasant location to relax and have a cup of tea or a drink, with the option of a nice selection of light food dishes. The Sunset Bar, as the name implies, is best visited in the late afternoon as the sun goes down over the city. They have a good selection of cocktails, mock tails and beer. The breakfast bar is extensive, catering for Asian and European tastes. Breakfast was included in my room rate and, frankly, after a substantial breakfast I really didn't need much of a lunch and waited until the evening before eating again. This is a five star hotel with five star attitude and, of course, five star prices (for Vietnam). I thorough recommend it if you would like to stay in an oasis of calm that you can use as a base to explore the city. It has the advantage of being on the airport side of the city so less affected by rush hour traffic to and from there.
One of the best hotels I have been in, staff are lovely (please talk to the Eric or the cheif consierge) and they will guide you around the area. Also sit in the sunset bar and enjoy a cocktail. Very close to all the areas of interest, and comfortable rooms
"Outstanding in terms of Service and Location"
We combined a business trip with a leisure weekend at the Inteconti Westlake and were impressed. The hotel was easy to reach from the airport, provide easy access of about 20 minutes to the Old Quarter and had a great location with pavilion built directly into the lake, but what made our stay most memorable was the amazing stuff. Booking the Club Intercontinental with my Spire Status, we were given a great personalised experience I hardly have experienced before. Starting the Airport Pickup, continued by the check in and completed by the wonderful stuff of the Club Lounge giving us the feeling of being home away from home. I would specially mention again the Club Stuff for their great personalised treatment Cam On and see U soon
"Definitely worth going here!"
This hotel is not only nicely located, the staff is super friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious. I would recommend to take the access to the club lounge since this is the perfect t get away from the hectic city and have a nice wine and tasty bites.
