"Always a good choice"
For me the Intercontinental Hong Kong is the best hotel in Hong Kong. The location is great, directly at the waterfront with an impressing view at the skyline of Hongkong Island. Staying at the Intercontinental Club is like coming home: attentive staff, liveable athmospere, delicious Food, best view. I´ll come back soon, promise!
"Huge Disappointment - will not be returning"
My boyfriend and I stayed in the Intercontinental for one night. Room - relative to other properties in Hong Kong, our room was spacious. However, our room was in need of an upgrade both aesthetically and functionally. I don't believe the rooms have been upgraded in over a decade. Additionally, our room, located on the top floor, felt very dark. Service - service throughout our stay did not feel five star, probably four star at best. Some staff we passed in the hallway and on the way into the hotel did not even make eye contact with us or greet us. We went to the Lobby Lounge for some drinks and snacks and waited 20 minutes for two glasses of wine (others who arrived after us got our drinks within 5 minutes of sitting down) and had to ask our server twice to bring us mustard, even though she acknowledge our request. On the other hand, service at their old restaurant, Spoon and at the steak house on previous visits has impressed me--so this demonstrates an inconsistency in service standards. Pool & Spa facilities - pool feels a bit dated. The hotel's hot tub overlooks the harbor, and we took advantage of this. Unfortunately, and beyond the control of the hotel, there is a museum under construction next to the hotel, which is a bit of an eyesore. We had massages during our stay--these were good, and our therapists were professional and friendly. Spa facilities are in need of a minor upgrade, but definitely not the most pressing area for the hotel (Rooms, F&B outlets, and pool definitely need to be looked at first) Breakfast - we had the breakfast buffet at the Harbourside Restaurant. It was a Sunday morning, and the restaurant was absolutely packed, guests packed in like sardines, squeezing between tables to get to and from the buffet--it was incredibly dizzying. The food quality was very average. Noodles from the noodle station were soggy, dumplings lacked flavor, and cooked dishes did not taste or appear fresh. Coffee was burnt and quality was below average. Service could have been more attentive. I suggest that IHG looks into improving the overall service flow of the breakfast buffet and the seating capacity of the breakfast buffet area--it is NOT large enough to accommodate the number of rooms in that hotel. I've stayed in some wonderful IHG properties and I am a loyal IHG Rewards member, and the Intercontinental in Hong Kong was a huge disappointment for me. Sadly, I will not be returning as I don't believe it is worth the rates that are being charged, and I believe that there are plenty of other hotels in Hong Kong that are of better value. It has a lot of potential, and could be drastically improved with upgrades to the hotel and increase in attentiveness and attention to detail of the staff
"First time to Hong Kong!"
My wife and i decided to check out Hong Kong during our travels and stayed at the Intercontinental hotel in Hong Kong.. We chose the executive suite/package.. The word awesome just dosent sound incredible enough! The service was fantastic the entire time. The gym has all new and up to date equipment, seriously everything you could possibly want! The Executive Lounge always had something going on from breakfast spreads, tea times and even open bar happy hours! The harbor views from the rooms and the main dining areas are something not to be missed. I could probably go on and on about this hotel but i will leave it at you must stay at the intercontinental hotel when traveling to Hong Kong!
"Amazing view, good service"
I visited this hotel for a weekend with my boyfriend. We had a room with a harbour view, which was amazing. We were able to watch the 'light show' from our room and sit and look at the HK skyline. The location is ideal if you're looking to stay on Kowloon side, it's in between the two ferry stops and great for all the shopping in the area. The room itself was very comfortable and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. I would recommend this hotel.
"Fabulous service with an even more fabulous view"
We had a fabulous time at the Intercontinental Hotel. We arrived at around 10:30 thinking that we would leave our luggage and return when we could check in. However, our room was available so we had access to it right away. This is the first hotel that I’ve been to where the check in agent actually escorted us to our room, showed us how to use the AC etc., made sure everything was satisfactory and then had tea brought to us. We were celebrating our anniversary during our stay so we had booked a harbor view room. It was a bit of a splurge but well worth it. The view across the harbor was stunning. We could watch the evening light show right from our room! On the day of our anniversary, when we returned to our room, the hotel had sent us strawberries with honey and a bottle of champagne. What a nice way to celebrate! We had drinks in the Lobby Lounge a couple of times. The floor to ceiling windows make for stunning views, especially at sunset. Our room was quite large and comfortable with a chaise by the window. The bathroom was large with both a shower and tub as well as a separate room for the toilet. My one complaint was there was not enough closet and drawer space in the room. We were on a long trip so we had a fair amount of clothing. The closet was quite small and had huge hangers, and there were only 3 small drawers. We ended up having to keep a lot of items in our suitcases and use them as “drawers.” Otherwise, we loved our room and would definitely stay here again.
