"Loved this hotel!"
The staff is very helpful, friendly and polite. The service is speedy and courteous. The grounds are beautiful, tranquil, and well maintained. The location is within walking distance of Lijiang's old town. The rooms are arranged in a series of buildings to which you walk from the main building in which is located the reception desk, restaurants, bars, pool, spa and gym. We had a standard room with a king bed (room 1076). It was large with all the amenities we could hope for. The bed was quite comfortable. The only negative is the room was on the second floor and there was no elevator in our building. If you are not looking for a huge breakfast buffet but still want to eat on premises, I suggest not taking the breakfast option with your room and instead opting for the club package. For 348 Yuan PP/PD you will have access to an executive lounge where there will be a small breakfast buffet, afternoon tea, and happy hour between 5 pm and 8:30 pm including some limited hot and cold food and a selection of beer, wine and cocktails, plus 2 articles of clothing laundered per day. All in all, this is a 5-star property using world class standards.
Wonderful three day stay from check in to checkout - the service was amazing. Recognized as Platinum member and room upgraded to beautiful room with fruit plate and flowers. Large room with living area, large sleeping area, huge tub and separate shower and toilet area. Comfy super king bed, huge thick towels and great water pressure with lots of hot water. Beautiful resort located right in the old town. The resort is styled after the old town with historic looking buildings arranged in a beautifully landscaped gardens with a pond and several different water features. Beautiful Lobby with large lounge overlooking the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. The whole place is stunning. Great indoor pool and separate hot tub with huge dressing rooms, lockers and showers. Hair dryers and make up area. Playroom for kids and kiddie pool. The buffet breakfast was good with huge selection of both Western and Chinese. Omelets and eggs cooked to order and amazing service. Some of the foods were not quite warm so that would be one thing to check on. We also ate on the Basil restaurant and found the fish and chips, spaghetti and burgers to be good. We can't recommend the pizza. Do not miss Black Dragon Pond Park, Shuhe Ancient Town (which we found to be much more authentic than Lijiang Old Town which is way to commercial). For an experience of a lifetime ride the horses from Shuhe Old Town up the mountain for a view! Incredible!!! For great service in a beautiful resort located connected to Old Town Lijiang I would highly recommend the Intercontinental.
We wanted to go a new place in China to play Golf, after visiting Kunming. We decided to stay at The Intercontinental, and what a great property. Just awesome, with lots of character and life. would love to go back. The only drawback was the views from the rooms. However the views from the suites in the evening were exceptional.
"The only international 5-star hotel located next to Dayang old town"
The hotel is relatively new due to recent renovation after the name of hotel was changed from Crown to Inter-Continental. The hotel is beautifully designed and located next to the ancient town – Dayang. While the room is well-appointed, I personally think that the design is not user friendly. The bed is placed between the shower room and bath. The table next to the toilet is relatively small and there are insufficient spaces to place any personal toiletries. An empty table placed next to the bath could be hardly used as you would not go all the way to the other end of the room to get your own toothbrush, toothpaste and hairbrush. The toilet ventilation is not very good and it is recommended to leave the toilet door open when it is not in use. The in-room wifi reception was excellent and I was able to access to most of overseas websites and apps including Facebook, which was unusual in mainland China. In addition to provide a Nespresso coffee machine for coffee lovers, the instant coffee packs were available. One thing I don’t understand, however, is that the hotel only provided a bag of Chinese tea leaves, which costs RMB20, to hotel guests. Not a single Chinese tea bag - green or red - could be found. Well, don't get me wrong; I am not complaining that the hotel charged its guests for a bag of Chinese tea leaves. If you could afford to stay at Inter-Continental, I am sure you would have money to pay for a bag of Chinese tea leaves. I only found it odd that the hotel thought its guests might prefer instant coffee packs to coffee capsules. But the hotel didn’t think the same way when it came to Chinese tea, in particular, in mainland China. From the marketing point of view, it was inconsiderate. The buffet breakfast offered a wide array of Chinese and western foods. I really love its freshly squeezed juices – orange, melon, carrot etc. I looked forward to having breakfast every day during my stay at the hotel. One thing which you might have to be aware of is the ‘special price’ the front desk offers you at the time you check in the hotel. When I checked in the hotel, the female staff at the front desk offered me a special price to upgrade my room type. I later found that this ‘special price’ turned out not so special. As a matter of fact, it was much expensive than the price I found on the very website I booked the hotel room in the first place.
"Almost perfect "
Location: fantastic. Its got views of the Jade Dragon Snow mountain as well as back and side gate into the old town so it's really convenient. Added bonus being right next to a really nice and busy local restaurant. Hotel: this is one of the best I've stayed. Everywhere is tastefully decorated and infused with lots of Chinese culture. They also have a tea house in the hotel so you can try different types of Chinese tea. Room: nice comfy bed, a good choice of pillows, good toiletries and has everything I need. If there is one thing I can suggest, it'll be the hair dryer. It's too small to have enough power to blow my hair. Great for short hair but will test some of your patience if you have Long hair. Service: everything was great. There's even a buggy service so you don't have to carry your luggage from the room to the hotel lobby. Because the hotel grounds are quite big, I found this really useful!
