"Front Desk Staff is Exemplary"
I had the most fantastic experience at InterContinental Miami. Although it was just for one night, it felt like I was able to relax and experience so much while I was there. The spa facilities were the highlight to my trip. I highly recommend alternating between the steam room, drench shower, and sauna, to get the most relaxing effect. The lobby was marvelous, and the outdoor pool and bar boasted unparalleled viewed of Biscayne Bay and downtown Miami. But what really was the defining factor of my stay was the front desk staff, but in specific, Ileana, the front desk supervisor. She was attentive, friendly, and always had a smile on her face. From the moment I arrived, she was able to meet my requests and made my stay feel personalized, as if she had tailor-made the experience herself. I congratulated her on her recent promotion. To the GM of this establishment - all of your desk employees should strive to emulate Ileana's professionalism, character, and guest service etiquette. She is the epitome of great customer service and the IHG brand, and it is my hope that she is both acknowledged and rewarded for her efforts. You are very lucky to have someone such as herself on your team! When I return to Miami, I will be sure to stay here, and hopefully see Ileana's smiling face again. Thank you kindly, Ileana, and the entire InterContinental Miami staff.
Great place to be when staying when your VIP. The entrance is right by the hotel. Awesome staff and very friendly.. the dj in the lobby makes a fun environment downstairs.. I would say adult trip would be best..... very happy :)
"Could be a winner"
We arrived at 10 am straight from our cruise ship (a 10 minute drive away) expecting our room not to be ready so was surprised when we were offered an upgraded room for $25 that was ready. The room was large with a good size marble clad bathroom but the best feature was the panoramic view of the bay seriously spectacular. Now for the negative the air conditioning was on at 22C about the same as the outside temperature,we immediately switched it off but the room just didn't warm up(we had just spent 2 weeks in central and S America). I rang reception to ask for a heater and was told it's Miami and it doesn't get cold but they would send the engineer.By the 2nd day the room was just as cold so attempted to speak to the GM but unfortunately he was away but spoke to his PA who was most understanding and arranged for a heater to be sent but why couldn't reception of done that ! The other negative I experienced was the lack of room service to which there is no excuse. On a positive side the check in staff were very pleasant and I would stay there again but maybe only in the summer. As an afterthought we stayed in an interconnecting room and we could clearly hear the conversation next door
A lot of decorating the grounds and lobby but, the rooms are very average. We had aircraft delay issues and I called to inform the hotel we would be a late arrival. When we arrived, there was a line to check in but is was extremely slow moving. By the time we checked in there were only a few rooms left, even though we called and told them we would be late, we were relegated to left over rooms. We were disappointed. A lot of hotels to choose from in the immediate area and we will try them.
"Made unauthorised charges to our account"
The good - position near harbor and public transport options The bad - despite twice checking with the front desk and manager, writing on our breakfast receipts that breakfast was included in our accommodation, paying our bill on check out and again ensuring our breakfasts were included - the Intercontinental charged our credit card 9 days after check out with an extra $300US for our breakfasts (family of 4 x 3 mornings). 2 months later we got a refund via our travel agent but I will NEVER stay at an Intercontinental hotel again, no matter where it is. Helping themselves to our credit card is a deal breaker (and the buffet is overpriced and overrated). Also - there is an extra fee per person called a 'resort fee' to use the pool and wifi - factor that into your budget.
