The location is fantastic, walking distance to old Montreal and Chinatown. Our room was spacious with a king sized bed, coffee/tea making facility and very clean. Also came with free wifi. Met some friendly staff at the reception and concierge, they were helpful and courteous.
"First time in Montreal"
First time visiting Montreal. Our stay was wonderful! Anne, the associate who checked us in, was great! Very sweet and knowledgeable about the property and surrounding areas. We had a king, city view room. Room was clean and comfortable. Standard in size. Nice decor. The bathroom was large with a soaking tub and separate shower. Our room came with Club Lounge access. The club is located on the first floor, off the lobby. You do need a your room key to access. Larry, the attendant in the club lounge, was fantastic! Didn't let us lift a finger! Constantly refilling our drinks and clearing our dishes. He was nice to talk with, very friendly and hospitable! The evening service included heavy appetizers and free cocktails. Decent selection. The breakfast was a standard continental spread. The lounge was comfortable and never overly crowded. The hotel is located in the center of downtown. We walked to Old Montreal - Only 5 blocks away. The front desk gave us a map, which came in handy. Old Montreal had lots of restaurants and bars to choose from. It is worth checking out! We also took a cab to the casino - $20 with tip. Casino is good if you like to gamble. We went to the Sarah B bar in the lobby. It was OK. We walked by the pool area just to look. The pool was small. Off the pool area is an outdoor terrace. Surprisingly the door to go out was locked. The pool attendant unlocked the door for us. Very nice views of the city on the 10th floor. There was some outdoor furniture, but it was not set up for use. I am surprised this area was not utilized better. It was warm and sunny in late May. I don't understand why it wasn't set up and opened to guests. Maybe it opens later in the summer' Overall enjoyable stay! I would stay again!
"Very disappointing experience "
I did not know that the quality of an Intercontinental hotel could be so low for the price we have to pay ... My 20 to 25 years old room had a small window giving on a completely shadowed part of the building and facing the same small window of another room. The only view from the room of that 5 star hotel was a brick wall. Three lights with low power bulbs were giving a little bit light in the room. Bathroom has not been renovated since years and joints of the bath are becoming black from moisture and mold. Buffet breakfast is limited to the basics. Very bad experience...
The view from my room was awful, no light coming through at all. Couldn't even open the curtains as there was a building outside my window. The breakfast buffet was okay but the servers seemed to be eager to get rid of us. On the plus side beds were comfortable.
This a great hotel that is dog friendly, right at the edge of old Montreal, spacious room, great service, walking distance to all the great attraction that is taking place in old Montreal, excellent value.
