"One of the only high end hotels in Montreal are worth the money"
Let's say it straight. the Inter is on of the first hotel to book. The rooms might seem to be old, there are in good shape compared to the Sheraton and bigger and more comfy. The service is one of the best in the town, which by choice or tradition, has too much copied the French standards. So well, the inter service is Asian standards. As I got a problem in my room they brought the tech guy, at the same time, sent me a valet to transfer to another room, enclosed two drinks at the bar and called me 3 times to check if everything was ok. Damn yes, it was !!
"Friendly Front Desk "
I was surprise how the front desk personal ask me if I need toothbrush when I check in just for a nap before heading to catch my flight. They even ask if i need a pair of slipper. Never had I ever come across in any Canada hotel asking me !!!! Sometime is so hard to request one from the housekeeping and they will bring over only for an hour or two. The corner suite room is a decent size to rest. The king size bed is soft enough but the pillow is over soft and flat. Is time they need to change those or have a pillow menu as most of the 4-5 star hotel had been offer. The shower room is very small for a six footer like me and the water is very slow and low pressure. It take so much longer time to finish my shower. The amenities is pretty good for what I needed. The towel is little rough and hard. The corridor need to be carpet steam and wash because the smell is not present ......... They have 4 lift services and that was no waiting time and that is one great offer from the hotel. Lots of hotel only run one lift at this hour and I have to wait for 5 min !!!!!!
The hotel was very clean...friendly staff...nice restaurant and bar. Good location around the corner of the start of Old Montreal. Most things within walking distance. The best bit was the bed. Best mattress ever!! Quiet too. Had a problem with one window and called for maintanance which did come to fix it reasonably quick. Would stay again. Buffet breakfast was fine. Enjoyed Chicago Intercontinental buffet better but it was lovely.
"Very nice, clean, great views"
This hotel is located in Old Montreal. The location was great and we walked for hours every day. We ate at the more famous restaurants in the city so didn't eat lunch or dinner here but the bartender was friendly and attentive. Made great drinks too! After check in they give you a book at the front desk that allows half price off the drinks during happy hour. When you check in it is a little weird as you check in on one floor by the concierge and then have to take your bags up to the check in counter. No one greeted us or helped with bags so that was disappointing. We had the large corner window room which was well worth it. The room was very large, clean and well-kept. No complaints at all. The bathroom was very nice and comfortable as well with much room for toiletries, etc. The hotell is connected to the underground shopping areas.
"Great hotel and location"
I really enjoyed my stay at the Intercontinental. While I was not impressed by the Toronto property, the Montreal hotel was very nice. I took the airport express bus (there are no trains that serve the airport to downtown) and it was an easy walk to the hotel (and an easy way to get back to the airport after my weekend in Montreal. There seems to be a lot of construction in Montreal so the bus ride to downtown took about 45+ minutes, however heading back to the airport on a Sunday went much faster. My room was upgraded, and I had club access and wow what a nice club. While they don't do afternoon tea, like in Toronto, the food is far superior. I was thrilled with the afternoon cookies and the tasty paella my first night. Plus, similar to the New Zealand property they offer complimentary alcoholic beverages. Putting the club aside, as not everyone will take part in that experience, the hotel in general had a lovely lobby, and it's just a short walk to Notre-Dame Basilica and the waterfront, as well as (in the other direction) a lot of shopping.
