"High End destination"
Great hotel, beautiful room, all the frills, if you are willing to pay, club memberships give you free beverages and dinner light fare worth much more than the cost of the membership. Restaurant bar is beautiful with a full drink menu.
"A good firm base!"
If you're looking for a four star hotel that is in the centre of things then this will suit you. A lovely receptionist upgraded us to a room on the 25th which was perfect. Not sure we would have fitted in a standard one.
"The Worst InterContinental Property"
Easily the worst InterContinental property I have ever stayed at. Having been an IHG member for several years, I typically go with InterContinentals in any city I visit. This past Friday, we arrived early for check-in and were generously upgraded to some room on the 26th floor (awesome, we think..how nice of the hotel). Upon returning at 4:30 to finally enter our room, we were brusquely told that an Ambassador status guest had bumped us from the room. Bummed but not overly dejected, I accepted this as standard procedure. From here on it, it just goes completely downhill. The following occurred during our stay: -Entered the room to find the TV broken. Took a short while for the repairman to come by and fix it. Whatever, no worries. -We waited nearly 30 minutes before our luggage was brought up...ok...fine, maybe this hotel is just understaffed. -Then we find a dirty toothbrush hanging out under the sink in the bathroom. Ok...wtf. -At this point I'm just pissed. But whatever, no need to gripe about this now. -The next morning, we wake up early and leave the hotel (around 9am) and return at 1pm...and given the caliber of hotel, I'm expecting the room to be cleaned upon our arrival. Evidently, this was asking for too much, as we came back to the same room, untouched and uncleaned. THEN we leave again and return to the room at 4:30pm and the room STILL wasn't cleaned. -At this point, I ask for the manager, and it takes a solid 1.5 hours for her to arrive on the scene, quoting "another customer complaint" as the reason for her delay. For 1.5 hours' Was this other guest's room literally on fire' The entire conversation I had with this manager lasted 10 minutes and I thought I had a slew of complaints. What on earth happened to the other guy''' This is where it starts to get good. Katy was the manager on call and the one who arrived 1.5 hours after my initial request to see her. She certainly patiently listened to my plight and concerns, but can't be said to have gone out of her way to remedy the error. I asked then to speak to her manager, a gentleman by the name of Francois. He apparently was't around that evening, so I agreed to meet him the morning of my departure. When I did finally summarize my concerns to Francois the next day, he was even less sympathetic, noting verbatim that "given no one was injured [this is absolutely verbatim], we can only offer you 1 free night at any InterContinental property as compensation." ...At this point I was just at a loss for words. Clearly the problem here is not the staff, but the management, who seem to resign themselves to mediocre organization and lackadaisical work ethic. I received much more attentive from Alexie at the front desk and others ASIDE from Katy and Francois. This is despicable and something I hope is the exception and not the rule. Anyway, simply put, this hotel is an abomination, and it is indisputably the worst InterContinental I've stayed at. The staff/service/etc. can mess up the first time and recover accordingly. What I can't handle is laziness and clear apathy. Never staying here ever again and I don't recommend anyone else to either.
"Poor Customer Service"
It's unfortunate that in today's day and age, and being involved in such a competitive hotel market, that a customer can leave a hotel with such a bad taste in their mouths. When I spoke to Anne at check out, I told her whether we needed to take our car out of the hotel parking lot. She said that "there was absolutlely no problem to leave it there as long as we wanted that day". When we wanted to leave at 5pm, the charges increased from the original $25 that we paid, to $45 that was required, as they started to charge hourly after a certain point. Obviously, if I had been given the correct information originally, I would have removed my car. And thank goodness I did, as the charges would have increased hourly without my knowledge. Anne was gone at this point when I went back to deal with the reception desk. They said there was nothing that they could do and took absolutely no action on trying to appease the situation that they were accountable for. It still baffles me that a hotel can have a customer leave with such a terrible last impression over a worth of $20. Never returning.
Convenient location for shops and attractions, with metro station about a two minute walk away. Spacious reception area with bar and restaurant. Club lounge offering continental breakfast and evening snacks and drinks. We had a very quiet suite overlooking the front of the hotel equipped with coffee maker and small fridge, which could be filled with drinks for an additional fee. Bathroom had bath and walk in shower
