"Awesome hotel, staff - super helpful, but.......................read on"
Before even writing this review, I need to express my happiness in staying in Intercon. The staff was super helpful and were even willing to open up the closed business center to assist me.......(as it was a national holiday). Everything is excellent in the hotel, the rooms are very spacious and toilets excellent. what i found little weird in both Phnom Penh and Ho Chi Minh is the tub in the toilet it is kind of very deep and more of a V in shape. Small thing but overall ambience, service and neatness was excellent. However, this location is quite far from the tourist center. Hence do not expect to go out of the hotel to have a coffee or tea or breakfast. You are dependent on the two restaurants in the hotel. This is a big disadvantage for tourist. While doing our tours we were forced to buy pizza from the center and bring it to the hotel. This is a major disadvantage for this hotel. But please note that all tours do pick you up from this hotel. Once again I need to thank the hotel staff for their super hospitality shown to us. They were super helpful and there was never a no during our stay in this hotel. I just wish the location was better if not at least the area should have few fast food chain or restaurants. Not an ideal location to walk in the night.
"Phnom Penh Daily"
Centrally located to several key areas, central markets which is a short walk or shorter Tuk Tuk ride to the the river front, this hotel was nominated by a business colleague. Happy to say this hotel appeared clean and housekeeping on top of their game and a well managed for a hotel that is about to celebrate it's 20th Anniversary. Decor is matching that of a 20 year old hotel and would benefit from a modernisation of rooms/furniture. I found the rooms to be in very good working order, clean, and suitably comfortable for a business trip. No issues encountered during my stay, and I found the staff extremely friendly. The hotel F&B was relatively quiet, it would appear they mostly have tour groups from Asia staying, so the groups would be on package deals and away from the hotel in the evening. The two gentleman in the lobby bar, who served me dinner and beverages were extremely happy to talk about their city, and offer up local recommendations for sight seeing and dining. Most professional in their manner. The buffet restaurants of five star hotels are a dying breed, as hotels innovate their spaces for modern and attractive dining venues. A local modern Khmer style dining venue would keep your guests in house, raise your revenues and give a little life to your lobby level. (Milas is a good example). That being said, the quality of F&B was of a very good standard. I would recommend this hotel on a couple of points: Close to the airport 30 - 45 minutes, close to several local markets within walking distance and as business traveller, quiet and clean well laid out rooms easy to work in. Thank you.
"Classic Intercontinental Experience"
When you stay at an Intercontinental hotel, you can rely on great customer service, elegance and luxury. I had a great experience at this hotel for all those reasons. The staff was welcoming and accommodating. The food was very good with a wide selection. This is not a complaint but for the sake of sharing constructive feedback, in comparison to other Intercontinental hotels that I've stayed at recently, it's a little outdated. Overall, it was a great experience and I would stay here again.
I was told to stay at this hotel by a business acquaintance , not ever been to Phnom Penh before I didn't know what to expect . His advice was good , this is a great hotel and a reasonable rate , the hotel has everything you need along with a great breakfast menu . I stayed on the club floor which was great compared to other hotel dive stayed at . The staff are very attentive and are always happy . I would recommend this hotel for people who would like a bit of luxury .
"Nice hotel with courteous staff"
My first time to Phnom Penh so came straight from the airport to the hotel via the hotel transfer service which worked well. I arrived at the hotel mid morning and was pleasantly surprised to find my room was ready and I was able to checkin. I had a few hours free and the hotel was able to make some recommendations and organise me a tuk-tuk ride around town to do some sightseeing. I dined in the restaurant one evening, the menu had a good range of local and Western choices. Staff were very attentive and accommodating when I requested a meal to have more vegetables added. The pool area is a lovely area to relax after a busy day. Would happily stay here again if the opportunity to come to Phnom Penh arose again.
