"Good for business but not ideal for a couples holiday"
The hotel is nice and well located, staff are very polite and the service is good. That being said it seems a little harsh to give only 3/5, however this rating is only based on traveling as a couple on vacation. We stayed in a Club Heritage Room, the room are good but not great, they are a little warn especially the bathrooms. It does not live up to a 5* standard especially not the Intercon. With the booking it was a club room which gave us access to the lounge for breakfast and afternoon / evening drinks and snacks. This was great and if you were to stay I would say this is very good value extra. At the time there was a conference the first day and a large wedding the second day, access from the room to the lobby and only exit out of the hotel is through the reception area for the conference room, as such it is very busy with people waiting outside and not fitting for a family / couples hotel. We didn't spend any time at the pool as it was just a basic pool that did not look appealing. Staff were very good and hotel was in the heart of the city with everything easy to walk to.
I stayed at the InterContinental in Singapore for 3 nights just last week. We arrived after a 17.50 flight from San Francisco and were able to check in around 10 am. That was very helpful as we needed a shower and to change clothes. The front desk was very friendly - as was the door staff. Our room was in the smaller section - on the third floor - I think they call them their Colonial rooms. It was nice - and had a view of the mall; howeve,r we could hear the mall and bars at night. We were so tired, that we didn't care. The room itself was very comfortable - though, the WIFI was a bit slow. We didn't dine at the hotel - but took advantage of the pool bar. The staff was all very welcoming and friendly. We'd stay here again without question.
"Great Hotel, Great Service and Great Location"
We stayed at Intercontinental Singapore for 5 amazing nights recently. There isn't anything that you can fault with the stay or the service. As most of the reviewers was previously noted, the hotel is centrally located within walking distance to Bugis junction or MRT station. There's also entry from the hotel straight into the Mall. It is also about 15 mins by Taxi to Sentosa. The service of all staff at the hotel was impeccable, starting from front desk to restaurant staff to concierge. The highlight of our stay was personalised service received by us from the staff, especially by duty manager Redzuan Ismail who sent an apology note and bottle of wine for 5 mins delay in having the room ready during check-in. The gesture was not required but highly appreciated. Another unique feature of our stay was the Handy smartphone provided to us in the room during the stay. It was extremely convenient to have a phone with unlimited local and international calls as well as data. It is hard to emphasize how much we are reliant on phones and having a local smartphone allowed us to easily explore and navigate the city on our own. The only negative for us was the queue for breakfast on 3 of our 5 days stay. Not sure whether it was a weekend thing, however the staff were curt and efficient throughout. Overall a fantastic stay and wouldn't mind coming back here or recommending the hotel to anyone.
"So so "
Not to sound cliché, but life really is a box of chocolates... and when you do global travel, you really don't know what your going to get. This best describes my experience at the Singapore intercon. The hotel as a whole is nice enough, and honestly the room itself is fine, but I personally am not a fan of looking out into a shopping mall. We stayed in the heritage wing and ultimately had a view of the inside of a kind of mall. I can see how it would be interesting to some... but personally not my thing. I guess I am a traditionalist and still like looking at the blue sky when looking out my window... bears seem to enjoy living in caves... I'll leave the cave living lifestyle to them!
As previous reviewers have stated, the Intercontinental is all about location. Literally next store to Bugis Junction Mall and Bugis+, it is centrally located within reach of shopping, dining, and transport options. We had an executive club room, which gave us the option of breakfast in the lounge, or in the main dining area. The room was well appointed, and all amenities were of high quality. Included in the price was afternoon tea and an evening (6-8pm) reception where drinks, including Singapore Slings, and canapés were served. I've got to give a special mention to the ladies in the club lounge, who were exceptionally nice. Because our flight departed late night, I paid a little extra for a 6pm checkout, which gave us access to afternoon tea and the evening reception on our final day. Staff at the hotel were extremely polite and helpful, and all gave the impression that they enjoyed their work. Breakfast was very good, with lots of hot and cold options for western, Chinese, Malay (good laksa-pictured)and Indian palates. I will happily stay again in the future. Taxi from SIN cost less than $20.
