"Above average but needs some maintenance"
Stayed here for 2 nights during the Grey Cup game. I got a good rate despite being a last-minute booing during a major event. Overall the property is definitely above average but they could do a better job with maintenance and housekeeping. I got a room on the 8th floor Club level. The main benefit of the club level is the included breakfast and access to the lounge. While I haven't stayed in other rooms here it didn't strike me that Club rooms are significantly different from others. The rooms are very easy (almost to easy) to access after walking in the main entrance. elevators are just a few steps away, closer than the check in desk. Front desk staff was efficient and friendly and made sure I was aware of the features of the property. I had everything and was up to my room in just a few minutes. Coming off the elevator there is the lounge and then a couple of hallways to the rooms. The lounge has a fair amount of seating with okay views. The room is average size and well appointed. My window was on the city side there wasn't much of a view. Everything in the room worked correctly. Wifi was easy to access, stable and relatively fast. There are ample power outlets for those with many devices. Lighting was a bit dark but not terrible. Towels and toiletries were very good and the bathroom provided enough room to move around although it wasn't huge. There is a Bose sound system provided that housekeeping would leave on after turndown. Despite the volume and base it was capable of I didn't hear music form other rooms so either nobody was using it or the rooms are very sound proof. I found the bed to be comfortable, on the softer side with great pillows and comforter. The TV could be larger but was good enough. The desk chair was good enough to sit in for longer periods. There is ample storage available as well. The breakfast buffet had a good selection of hot and cold food but overall it was not many steps about the lower end IHG hotels. There were some issues. There was a rather large section of the wallpaper beside the bed that was coming off the wall. This is not a difficult fix and I'm surprised that a higher end hotel would not take care of it before renting the room. Also, there was a half-used water bottle left on the dresser beside the television. It wasn't incredibly obvious but housekeeping should have seen it. I went to the lounge attendant to mention the water bottle and was assured it would be cleaned up. I returned several hours later and it was still there. So, a good stay overall but a few issues with maintenance and housekeeping. If you can get a deal on a room I recommend the property but shop around.
"Wonderful weekend in the "6""
My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and everything was awesome. Bell hops opened doors every time we exited or entered the hotel. When we first checked in, which was kind of early, our room was ready, and I asked if we could possibly have a room with views of the CN tower. We were given that room, our bags were brought up to our room. Spacious room, very nice bathroom, and clean. The best part of the room was the excellent view of the CN Tower. My girlfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and shortly after we checked in and got settled in, we received a beautiful tray of goodies. (Pictures below). All the staff is friendly and very helpful. I would recommend this hotel hands down, and when we travel back to T-dot, we will definitely be staying at this beautiful hotel. It was a very memorable trip. I had other vids of the lobby and of our room, but I think they may be too long to upload on here. But the lobby is very classy.
We were exhibiting at the Metro Centre next door and much to my delight and surprise we were able to get an excellent rate. Having spent many nights away in hotels I have become blase about them all being much of a muchness, all the same. However I really have to say this was a real cut above. Yes we had the lovely king size, 14th floor view, coffee machine, TV etc stc. Well appointed lobby all shiny glass and marble. BUT what really struck us was first class staff: from the cheery young lad on the door, to the knowledgeable reception staff, Concierge, bar staff and the excellent breakfast waiter. These people conspired to make our stay a genuine pleasure! They were not in your face, always asking "how are you, how's your stay so far" sicky stuff we have experienced before, they osed confidence in the hotel. Thank you all for making us smile after a long day setting up and talking, and working the exhibition stand. To use a very hackneyed phrase "we'll be back!"
"Wonderful staff wonderful service clean rooms..."
We just spent our 5th Xmas break at the hotel. We rented 3 rooms for us and family. As usual all were clean big and comfy. The staff at front desk' Polite smiling and helpful. Cleaning service people were kind. I tip them but they don't expect it. The Azure restaurant on site is wonderful and again clean. Food very good. And staff mature and helpful. This year we had a misunderstanding about a charge to our room. They listened, and gave us the money back pretty quickly. I really appreciate this place and the people who work there.
"Great hotel and very clean"
It was my first time staying at the Intercontinental in Toronto. It was just a quick over night stay because I went to see a Toronto Raptors game. I was very impressed with the hotel, its staff, the rooms and the overall cleanliness. It's well located near bars, restaurants and Union Station. Would definitely come again any time I have the opportunity. The only comment I can make, is that there are no overhead fans in the bathrooms, so after a shower, the bathroom is very steamy for a while. (I possibly did not look hard enough, but I assume a fan switch is right next to the light switch)
