Great location, lovely hotel, could not fault it.Comment of C. Margaret , Ireland the 2015-10-25
To call this a five star hotel needs a leap of imagination. Our room was very disappointing despite having asked for a non-smoking, twin with views of Wenceslas Square we were given a large double with views of derelict buildings, industrial extract fans and the back of large grey concrete office blocks. When we asked for a move we were told all rooms were full unless we were prepared to pay 50 euros a night for an upgrade to a deluxe room, which we were not prepared to go along with. Our room was small and dark and very uninspiring. A buffet breakfast was included in our deal and the range of food was reasonable but not on a par with a five star hotel and confined to a small congested area which made it difficult to select items you wanted to eat as you battled with other guests. If you wanted tea or coffe you had to get up and go to a machine to make a cup yourself rather than a pot being delivered to your table. For long periods tables were left piled high with dirty cutlery and crockery as there were insufficient staff to clear them away. On arrival there wasn't anybody evident to help us with bags or offer us a welcome drink, even though we saw glasses laid out on a table. Not sure if the grading system of hotels is different in Prague but this was nearer a three star than five. Would not recommend this hotel to friends.
"Wedding anniversary and winter holiday in Prague "
Pretty good location with Christmas markets below and all the way to old town square. The town is so vibrant that in the middle of nights , we can still see tourists walking around and young teenagers in groups around the streets. A bit noisy though, as I was waken by noises from neighbors and streets filled with teenagers shouting. They were probably intoxicated or picked pocketed as I saw someone ran swiftly across with the other shouting. Buildings were old and we wonder if the balconies are safe to stand on but I did. These are views right out of Jalta hotel. Most hotel staffs speaks good English. The breakfast is great but you may find the same spread everyday with Cheese, salad, buns, rolls, eggs. Amazing to see a " Chinese soup " which is actually a pot of porridge in sea weed. Hotel is small in size for around $200 euro a night. One thing I think it has to improve but probably the architecture obstructed it , is the windows. They screeches at night and in winter, the air conditioner is not in operation, providing a heater in the room. We used a wine bottle cork to keep the windows fixed.
"A hotel which doesn't live up to its own hype"
The jalta is well located, close to Muzeum on Wenceslas Square. It sells itself as a cool boutique hotel, however the reality is that it is It is a comfortable and functional hotel. Room:-Our room was tiny, smaller than a holiday inn express, at the rear of the hotel, the fans were noisy and there was a constant smell of cooking. It was however comfortable. Breakfast:- we were B and B. The breakfast buffet is the most cramped and disorganised we have experienced, it was however tasty. Staff:- all need a little more polish and empowerment. Simple requests were ignored, missing bowls at breakfast, no replenishment on the tea tray. They were however friendly. Underground bunker:- fascinating, a great glimpse into the hotels history. It also showed our double room was in fact a single in communist times! All that said we had a nice stay, it's just the Hôtel doesn't live up to its own hype, and that hype creates expectations.....
Beautiful place to stay, awesome staff, superb location within 7 minutes from the train station, right where it all happens next to clubs, restaurants, shows.. You name it. The breakfast buffet is outstanding. Rooms with a balcony over the main street can be a little noisy at times but the view is worth it. 10/10 in my opinion..
