As a treat to ourselves, we stayed at Jamahal Private Resort and Spa. Jamahal used to be a private residence. The owner built it so his extended family and friends could come and visit and have their own place and privacy. With a few modifications, it has now become a luxury resort with 13 rooms. From the minute we were picked up at the airport, we felt like we jumped into the “life of the rich and famous”. While neither rich nor famous, we were made to feel like it. In the van we were given chilled, jasmine scented washrags to wipe our faces and cool off. Chilled ice water quenched our thirst. A quick 15 minute drive and we entered the gates of Jamahal. Immediately we were met by three attendants to carry our luggage and welcome us by name. Once seated at the reception area, we were given two flutes of champagne, a quick orientation and then brought to our room We entered through a carved wooden door set into a tall wall. Once inside you hear the waterfall feature to your right. The path forward led through our garden, under a tall frangipani tree, skirted our pool, onto our deck and then to our “room”. Our “room” turned out to be ginormous. A large living room with flat screen tv, entertainment system/sound system, refrigerator, fresh bowl of fruit and massive couch. To either side were bedrooms and bathrooms. To the right was the extra room and instead of a bed there were two massage tables set up. A full bathroom with tub, rain shower, double sinks, etc. To the left was our bedroom with a canopy bed and similar bath set-up, but our massive stone tub was filled with warm scented water with bougainvillea petals and frangipani blossoms floating on top. Soooo nice!!! Each night before we retired, we ordered our breakfast for the morning. And right at the requested time our doorbell rang. We pushed the entry button and in came our “butler” with breakfast and the morning Jakarta Post. We sat on our porch, protected from the rain, drank freshly brewed Indonesian coffee and fresh-squeezed orange juice. We always had a bread basket, usually eggs with bacon, yogurt and fresh fruit. About 45 minutes later, back comes the butler to pick up our plates and take them away. We did the same for lunch. We think we could get lazy and fat real fast here!!!!
"Cozy and serene"
We had a really nice stay at Jamahal as the last stop on the Bali portion of our honeymoon. Compared to the other hotels we stayed at on our trip, this one was quite different: the property is very small, so when you're on premises (which is right off a really busy street that feels a touch rough around the edges; the staff stops traffic to assist in you crossing the street if you need to), you feel like your sort of back with a little family. It's a nice contrast to the other mega hotels on the island. The food was spectacular: breakfast arrived every morning with a friendly smile from the server, and we also had lunch a few times as well (try the club sandwich!). The staff went above and beyond to make us comfortable: we had a very late flight out the last day, the property allowed us to use the pool for the day and an unoccupied villa late at night to shower and get ready for the airport. Obviously, such a thing would depend on occupancy, but we were really appreciative of that, and it made a big difference on that long last day. We stayed in the LUXURY III SPA VILLA. This was a huge, HUGE villa, sprawling with a pool large enough for 6-8 people, an outdoor bed, and plenty of foliage and water effects. I would say it's almost too big for two people, but ideal for a family of 4, or 2 couples (there are two bedrooms and two bathrooms). That said, having seen another villa, this particular one seemed to fall just a touch short of 5-star in regards to things like finishes, fixtures, furniture etc. Having come from the Legian and Four Seasons, the finishings just felt to be a notch below those. But I think this might be unique to this particular villa, which is on a different line from the others. Even with that, we really enjoyed all the space and this particular critique is admittedly nit-picking.
"Very peaceful despite being located right off a busy street"
We had a great stay at this resort. Our room was spacious and cool, bathroom was almost as big as the bedroom and the pool was unbelievable. Breakfast was delicious and fresh and evening happy hours were just what we wanted. Staff is extremely accommodating and friendly. I would definitely stay there again.
"Lovely place to stay at"
We had some very pleasant holidays at the Jamahal : everything was great, the bedroom, the breakfast, the spa, the personel. The beach is five minutes walk from the hotel, with a private area for jamahal's clients. We hope we can come back one day !
My husband and I booked this hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary and we had a truly amazing time. There is nothing to fault here. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The food is incredible for breakfast, brunch and dinner. Thank you so much to the entire Jamahal team who made our trip extra special.
