"Beautiful! A must stay!!"
Stayed here for 10 days with my husband, parents and 2 kids (ages 11 months and 3). The place was beautiful, the pool and beach were amazing and the staff were all super friendly and always helpful. My kids loved the baby pool and the soft sandy beach. We rented a cabana one day which was heaven! There's lots of places to eat however we were so pleased with Club 91. All you can eat and drink all day and the kids ate free. It was different cuisines each day, decent quality liquor and the staff working there couldn't have been more inviting and accommodating. The chef would bring my 3 year old special food requests and the bartender had a drink ready for my husband when we waked in! And I can't forget to mention the lovely spa...what a treat! I loved this place and would totally stay again!
This place was so beautiful. The service was exceptional, rooms were clean, food was good, and the many pools and beach were awesome. Good place for families, and if you want to hang around the pool without kids there is an 18 and over area that has a swim up bar. We loved it here and plan to come back and bring our kids and grandkids for a family vacation. Our room was on the ground floor and our ocean view was a little peek when we went out on the balcony and leaned over. At first I was a little disappointed, but we really liked the room because it was very easy to get out to the pool area. If you want a better view I would ask for a room higher up.
"Great Staff, Great Experience"
The entire staff at the JW was excellent! Alvaro Cruz the bartender in the adult pool area was beyond helpful. From day one, he made me feel relaxed and took care of everyone needs! I just booked another 10 day vacation at this resort
The hotel has a wonderful old school elegance that is nicely displayed in the common areas including the lobby(s), restaurants, bars and available shops for the most part. The service reflects a professional and helpful demeanor while seeming nearly joyless. Since we have 6 and 8 year old children who love being in the water, I will focus there. The outdoor pool area is beautiful and the beach is spectacular. If you have young children, beware. The surf, while we were there, was rough and there were dangerous undertows even for strong swimmers. The pool water is uniformly 4 feet 7 inches deep except for a couple of (not child) but baby areas. Approximately 1/2 of the perimeters are water level with the other 1/2 being a steep edge that hovers about 18 inches above water level. This means that if your child is struggling to get out of the water, he or she may be in trouble. Adding to that concern is we saw zero lifeguards around the pools. They were present and vigilant along the beach, however. A couple of smaller details include the outdoor furniture was fairly well soiled with bird droppings and there was no music playing around the pools. The indoor pool and gym were quite nice and up to date but children are not allowed in that pool with or without adult supervision. The restaurants we visited served delicious appetizers, entrees and desserts but not surprisingly prices hovered on the high end even with a devalued peso. A 20 peso (10 minute) bus ride will get you to middle to high end fare for considerably less cost. I was left with the impression that we could have been staying at any nice hotel in the US that caters to folks who appreciate being in warm weather but without feeling like they left the country. Simply said, it felt stodgy, stiff and not particularly welcoming to families with younger kids.
"Pools to die for"
We just spent a long weekend at the JW to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Our room was upgraded and we were serenaded at both the lobby bar and Mexican buffet dinner to celebrate. We enjoyed waterfront dining for lunch every day - servers were so friendly and helpful - Benjamin and Alan were two of them and unfortunately I don't remember the others names. Everywhere we went on grounds we were greeted. Our room wasn't ready when we arrived even though it was 4:30 - we were comped drinks at the bar and awarded 5,000 points for the inconvenience. To top off a perfect weekend, we were able to watch an Indian wedding and all the ensuing celebrations - an amazing trip
