"I will never book another room in a Marriott!"
My step daughters soccer club had a tournament in Disney over the holiday break. She was down there with her Dad and 100's of families from her soccer club. They stayed at The JW Marriott Grand Lakes on a prearranged discounted rate for the soccer club. While down there my step daughter was seriously injured requiring emergency surgery. Needless to say my wife was devastated and we needed to rush down to Orlando to he there for the surgery and her daughter. We called the JW Marriott and booked a room and ended up staying 4 nights and 5 days. Once down there we asked due to our misfortune, the terrible situation and emergency nature of our stay can they please extend the group rate to us. This was not a plea because we booked late or decided to vacation down there. It was a sincere request to extend the same rate the 100's of families received with the soccer club due to the emergency nature of our stay. After speaking with numerous people including the General Manager and the controller we were told NO. We tried once more by calling a number to connect us with customer service and got no assistance or even a token consideration. In the end Marriott refused to grant us the same rate other families were paying in our same group regardless of the emergency situation. Their lack of compassion, concern or good business sense has just made them lose a frequent traveler. We travel personally and through business quite a lot and I will never stay or recommend another Marriott. I guess the Marriott felt the short term savings were worth the long term bitter feelings of a good customer and decent family.
"Beautiful property, breathtaking views"
Stayed at the JW Marriott Grande Lakes this past weekend. The property is magnificent! Loved every detail of this resort. Staff is super-friendly, grounds are breathtaking, food is divine. Loved the lazy river and whirlpool spa! Enjoyed lunch at Quench overlooking the pool area. Liked having the large bathroom with spa tub and stand up shower, and made use of our balcony overlooking the gorgeous grounds. Would most definitely stay here again! Very classy and beautiful hotel with comfy beds and nice amenities. Wish I could have stayed longer!
"One of my favorite hotels"
This Hotel and the sister Hotel Ritz Carlton are two of my favorites in Orlando. The grounds ate spectacular and the decor magnificent . The rooms are spacious with fantastic views. I like the amenities, pools etc and the restaurant in the premises.I attended a conference in the convention center adjacent to the Hotel and the halls and service is great. Try the spa or the Gym before you start the day.
"Great hotel ! "
Very nice hotel! I loved the lobby... the restaurant right next to the lobby is delicious as well as the Italian restaurant and there's also a Starbucks on the ground floor. The bed and pillows were really comfortable. The only thing I did not like was that my room had the view of a roof :( ... the view of the rooms on the other side I imagine is much nicer. During the weekend the hotel was very quiet and full of families. The concierge was super helpful. The gym (shared with the Ritz Carlton) is great as well as the paths/area around the lake. I would definitely consider coming back, hopefully getting a better room this time.
"Exceptional NYE events; rooms need some updates"
Overall very good experience, although rooms could use a revamp (we stayed late Dec 2016). We stayed in an exec one bed suite, which would have been better with a kitchenette. Highly impressed with the strong level of service this property offers. Blown away with the NYE fireworks show....incredible.
