"Lovely Hotel with really comfy beds but not so great shower"
This hotel was definitely a very nice hotel. The decor, lobby, even the fresh lemony scent in the lobby was beautiful. The fruit infused water coolers in the lobby were a nice touch. The room was really big and comfortable. The beds were super comfy like sleeping in a nest. My only gripe was the shower. The cabinet was nice but the shower itself was not the greatest - especially if you are a petite person - then the water pressure was not enough. I loved the showers in Holiday Inn in Sheffield England - where you could actually adjust the height of the shower. Window panes are thin and we could hear the cars passing by even on the 8th floor, plus the walls are thin and you can hear your neighbors. You do have to pay for Wi-fi and parking. Plus room service is very over-priced. So we didn't eat at the hotel. The fitness center was immaculate and very well equipped - they even had apples and oranges for the guests. The pool was exquisite. All in all a very nice hotel if you're looking for comfort and luxury. The hotel is also well located.
"It's really just a Marriott"
I'll start by saying I've stayed at JW properties worldwide and this one does not deserve the name/branding. The staff at the front desk was young and too "casual" in their dealings with guests- an increase in politeness and professionalism would go a long way. The cleanliness/ attention to detail in the room wasn't there either-- cigarette butts on the balcony, a stale odor to the room, and a poor job of washing the bathroom floor. Valets are prompt/courteous and great at remembering your vehicle. Ballrooms are large and well appointed. Very little sun at the pool due to the large number of trees surrounding it. This hotel has 1,000 rooms- it's just too large for them to maintain the JW standards- it's just a Marriott
Stayed over one night with my husband this trip. Previously, I stayed at this property with my sister a couple years ago. The JW shares a property with the Ritz. A nice advantage is that you can use the facilities at both hotels - each has their own outdoor pool, and there is a third pool for spa users. I found the property very relaxing and comfortable on both trips. The staff are very friendly and generally accommodating. The spa is absolutely beautiful - if you go for a treatment, you have access to the private pool for the entire day. The fitness facility is to die for. Every type of cardio or weight training equipment you might be interested in, plus some. The equipment was also recently replaced so everything is in new condition. Property grounds are well cared for and present many opportunities for a nice stroll. I did find the morning leaf blowers around the pool to be quite annoying, as they run for a couple of hours. This is a pet peeve of mine at most resort hotels I've visited in the past 10 years. The standard rooms are a very nice size, and include large bathrooms with separate tub and shower, and plenty of counter space. As a platinum member, both trips I received an upgrade to a room with a view and small balcony - very nice and much appreciated. The hotel was also accommodating with early check in and late check out, though occupancy rates were low both times - which helps. I will definitely return in the future. This is one of my favorite Marriott properties for relaxation.
"Best Pool Ever!"
The hotel was magnificent! The front of the hotel and car staff were top-notch, very professional, yet very approachable and friendly. The lobby was extremely large and grand. The receptionist was very welcoming. We never had trouble with the elevators. All public restrooms on the property were extremely clean. The hallways were very well decorated, clean and you felt good just walking down the hallway. Our room was beautiful. We chose a corner room. It was not pool view. I'm not sure if I would choose a pool view over the corner, due to the extreme privacy we had. Nobody on either side. Nice! The bed was like heaven. It was fun having to jump up onto the layers of softness. Only complaint is that the fitted sheets kept coming off the top corners of the bed, even when not having sex. It was nice having a large soaking bathtub and a large glass enclosed shower. Only thing better was to have a jacuzzi in the room. The housekeeping service was perfect. The restaurants were great. We also went over to the Ritz and had dinner once. Of course it was ridiculously over-priced, but that's how these places are. The crown jewel is the pool and the pool-side service and the restaurant. You lay on the chairs and when you need service, all you do is put your flag up on the back of the chair. Very friendly and quick service. The food at the pool-side bar is amazing. Still over-priced, but...and the $15 margarita is the most amazing drink I have had. Ridiculous price... but I bought 3 throughout my stay because they were so delicious. The lazy river is the best I've ever seen and floated in. The tropical feel around the pool was breathtaking. Because the pool is so large, there are different environments to choose from. You can be in the middle of everything, or tucked away in a shaded oasis, or in-between. The jacuzzi was great. Marriott needs to install more jacuzzis through. No excuse for just one. There is a 2nd jacuzzi with a handicap acessible chair installed, but the water was luke warm at best. Not one you choose to sit in. The towel hut is wonderful. The fruit-infused water is delicious. We loved the towel service and to not have to worry about towels at all. We can't wait to come back just for the pool. Biggest complaint is that the pool closes at 8 or 9. I think that's poor. The breakfast restaurant was wonderful. And of course the $32 charge is ridiculous. No excuse for that. Another reason to feel taken advantage of. But the buffet is so delicious. Best omelet, french toast and waffles we have ever had. The freshly squeezed cantaloupe and orange juice was the most amazing juice I've ever had. The fruit was beyond perfect. Everything was soo good. The service and all staff at the restaurant was incredible. Due to the lack restaurants close to use, we also used Uber to take us to some other places and to the store. Never need a rental car there. And you don't have to pay the ridiculous fee to park your car either. Uber is very cheap, fast, and reliable. We hated to leave and we are definitely going back. I feel like JW Marriott Grande Lakes will be our traditional hotel and getaway.
"Great room, great iced tea"
This was my first stay here. Super nice lobby with marble. My room was big with a great view of the pools. The breakfast buffet was excellent and the non-sweetened iced tea had an amazing flavor that reminded me of a Four Seasons-like touch to quality. Staff were extra helpful and gave me directions when I looked lost but hadn't even asked for help. Would definitely stay here again.
