"A detox retreat"
Leave the world behind and spend a week here detoxing, living a healthy spiritual life eating healthy food, and enjoying wonderful massages and treatments. You won't regret it. We arrived thinking we were coming to a spa.. it was so much more. the staff and the service is wonderful. It is not luxury, but well appointed and the ethos of the place is sincere. If you want glitz and glamour from a spa don't come here, but if you want authenticity and quality of treatment then I'm sure it is world class.
"The best health resort in Asia"
This is our fourth time to visit Kamalaya health resort on Koh Samui. This place is the best if you need a detox or any other specific health treatments. I do like the new extensions of the retreat and the hill view suits have all what you want with great beds and large veranda with pool and see views. The treatments are amazing and very professional trained staff is look after you.A must is the Vital Essence oil massage for 90 min. The detox food is amazingly fresh and the restaurant has a great setting with super service. Enjoy a week or two and feel reborn
"Beautiful and friendly but more health resort than spiritual retreat"
Exquisitely designed and well thought out in every detail. Beautiful architecture, stunning garden design with a variety of water flows and fish ponds, great food - both tasty and good for you - and fabulous massage and treatments. Most importantly, very friendly and attentive staff. So why am I not giving it 5 stars' Simply because I felt it was a little bit less of a spiritual retreat than I had expected. Maybe this was my misunderstanding or maybe I had too high expectations. During the week I was there I did yoga, qi gong, tai chi and various forms of meditation but because these courses are for everyone coming in at any time, you end up going through them a bit like a gym schedule without ever getting to the next level. This impression was reinforced by the fact that the library (both books and films) consisted mostly of bestsellers (Jo Nesbo, Dan Browne) but nothing about the treatments or philosophies practices at Kamalaya. Nevertheless it is a beautiful, friendly place well worth spending your vacation.
"Beautiful place for relax"
The place is special. Give you many options to take care of your health, and also food habits and live style. The food is delicious, including many detox dishes. Cooking classes are phenomenal!! Rooms are nice and clean. Staff is very polite. We had room which should be ocean view but there are no rooms with ocean view!!!!! only part view. We had package for treatments, which was good, the only problem is when you want to change any treatments you have to pay full price for it,there is not discounts like you receive in the package. It is not a place for kid as the beach is very small and the sea is very shallow.
"Kamalaya Health Resort"
Very pretty health resort on Koh Samui. Beach area quite ordinary (more mud flats when tide is out) and quite remote. Complementary daily transfers to local beach and shops (approx 15 mins) Chewang Beach which is the main beach on the island is a 30 min drive. Food and health facilities are lovely however buggies would be necessary for a lot of the guests as the resort terrain is quite hilly and steep. Buggies can be called from any location at Kamalaya and are readily available. We stayed in a sea view terrace which was beautifully decorated as well as spacious and very close to the large lap pool overlooking the sea. Gym, spa and naturopaths have a good range however very expensive for Thailand, and prices are more in line with any 5 star resort. Food plans are also expensive and for most women would be too much food. We chose a la carte and had plenty of food as well as a great choice. If travelling around the island a private driver is the best way to go (can be organised when visiting the local beach) and 5 hours takes you everywhere with time to spend time at all the sights. Bophut has a lovely beach with beachside seafood restaurants, as well as some upmarket shopping. Kamalaya would be one of the most attractive resorts on Koh Samui and a wonderful place to detox with charming and wonderful staff.
