"Horrible - ruined our vacation"
The hotel overbooked. So despite us booking and already pre-paying 2 months in advance, when we showed up on New Year's Eve, my family didn't have a room. The hotel staff proceeded to make us wait 2 hours, while they tried to book a cheap replacement. It was only when I said I'd personally pay for a more expensive replacement hotel, that we were able to find lodging close to midnight. By that time, we were exhausted, and it was too late to inform our Tuk Tuk driver of our new location, so we had thus had to miss the 1st sunrise of 2017 at Angkor Way, which we traveled half the planet to see. So they ruined what was supposed to be a highlight of our vacation. Throughout the process, Karavansara hotel tried to bargain and solve their screwup cheaply, instead of focusing on how to help us quickly. They were truly terrible. Our experience was so bad, that I'm considering asking Hotels.com / Expedia to de-list this hotel.
"Nice hotel, nice room and good location"
Me and my boyfriend stayed at this hotel for just two nights. The hotel is just few minutes away from the main street. The room was clean and charming although we had a little guest one night making noise. It was a gecko but it is pretty normal there and they are harmless. The staff was very helpful, they have arranged a tuk tuk for us to pick us up from the airport and take us to Angkor Wat. I will surely go there again if i may visit Siem Reap another time.
"Nice hotel, kind staff, nice location, great shower, but noisy"
I stayed at Karavansara Retreat for 2 nights. Overall, the hotel is very nice. Good location, easy walk to the Old Market and Pub Street area, but tucked away in the Wat Bo area east of the river. Nice clean room with a big bed and a patio. Rooftop pool is lovely. The only complaint is due to the location of my room, which was very close to the road and the front lobby of the hotel, it got quite noisy at night. Aside from this, I would recommend this hotel!
"a convenient place to stay"
the place is very convenient by the river, with restaurant and shops around. you can walk to/from a lot of the places from here, the old market and pub street are just nearby. i will certainly stay here again next time i visit.
We were planning to stay in Kravansara during our whole stay in Cambodia. We booked a pick up from the airport and a few minutes into our journey we realised the driver was drunk. He openly told us that he had been drinking in a wedding all day and was more than capable of driving a car. We got into the hotel and a receptionist laughed as soon as we told him what happened. The hotel room had no working plugs and we struggled to charge our phones and cameras. We spent one night in the hotel and realised that the pool was nothing like in the pictures. It was very small and needed freshening up. The room that we were staying in was next to the main road so we were awake at 6am from the loud traffic, the receptionist did offer to change to room for us but then at 9am they started construction work next door. There was a jcb with a hammer breaking concrete from 9am onwards which was more than we could take, no way of relaxing in the room or by the pool due to the noise. We checked out and moved hotels after one night. They charged us for the full 3 days even though we only stayed one night. To be fair the staff there were actually quite polite but it was unfair for them to change us for the full 3 days considering the amount of noise coming from the construction site next door.
