We visit Munich twice a year and always stay in Kings Hotel Center. However this hotel was closed for renovation last week, so we booked a room in its nearby sister hotel, Kings Hotel First Class, a four star hotel. At Reception I inquired if the room we had been allocated was a quiet room as I had requested at the time of booking. No, it was facing the busy street. We were given another room, wedge shaped and very dark as it was situated in a corner and under the fire escape. It was very clean and the bed was comfortable, but the carpet was dark, patterned and old-fashioned. A receptionist told me that the window/fire-escape door could be opened at the top, but would alarm if fully opened. Due to the situation of the room very little fresh air came in, so the room felt very stuffy. The staff of this hotel were not at all as helpful and friendly as those in Kings Hotel Centre, where we have always been very satisfied with the rooms. We look forward to staying in Kings Hotel Centre when we are next in Munich
"Close to station"
We spent two nights here and were very comfortable during our stay in a family room. The furnishings look old fashioned but every thing is clean and well presented. If you a travelling by train it is a perfect location as it is no more than a five minute walk away (maybe less!). We did not have breakfast at the hotel so are unable to comment. The only small issues for me were that the bath towels are quite small and there was no tea available in the room and the coffee was not replenished during our stay. We did however like the Christmas chocolate on our pillow! Staff interaction was minimal but friendly and efficient.Overall there would be no reason not to return.
"Good Business Hotel"
Four of us booked two rooms in this hotel - a double and a twin bed. We arrived at 10:00 a.m. though check-in was at 2 p.m. They let us stay in a smallish room off the lobby with its' own gas fireplace, comfortable armchairs, tables, and Nespresso coffee machine. The wifi was fast and steady so my nephew could work on his laptop and even moderate a telephone conference before checking in. The rooms were clean, had everything one needed even if they were small, and the beds were firm. On every floor there are automats for snacks, soda, and even an ironing board. All in all a hotel we can recommend. Within easy walking distance from the main train station. A definite plus point where train travel is involved. Many good restaurants around the vicinity.
"More than expected.."
We slept just one night (Walk-in) a few weeks ago. I was expecting a low 4star Hotel. BUT I had to change my mind. The Hotel from outside doesn't look amazing and the Price was fair so it was a big surprise when we checked-in. The cleaning of the room and bathroom was pretty good. The room itself was a bit small (standart one) but had everything. I really appreciated the water in the minibar, courtesy line, weight scale, king size bed and the HUGE TV. These details show the effort of the managment. As a Front Office Manager I ensure that the check-in could've been better. Nothing was mentioned about the Sauna and the "upselling game" of the Hotel was a bit low. Carts of the Housekeepers on the corridors were clean and in order which means there is a good high working Stantard requested. Did not try the breakfast but we will give it a shot next time. Also maintenance looked good. Walls were clean, no problems with lights or anything. Just Bravo. We will come back for sure. Dmytro
"Great alternative "
I usually stay at Motel One in Munich as the price value relation is unbeatable. When these are booked or I have to be close to the train station, this is my choice. The furniture is old school wooden and won't win them design prizes, but the rooms are spacious enough, huge TV including Sky (German Bundesliga, Movies and more), good bathroom. Somehow feels like it used to be a real luxury hotel. WiFi for 4 devices, stable and Netflix works. The staff is nice and helpful, the location close to the train station is great and there's this fabulous beer place (brewing their own) right down the street (next to Kosmos Bar). The breakfast I would not recommend if it is not included in your rate.
