"What a view!!!"
This hotel had absolutely breath taking views, the pools were relaxing one for everyone and another pool was more private. This 5 start hotel was just that, from the food to the pool service and the whole ambiance. The staff cadered to our every need, Clean quite and trendy. Beautiful nights dining in their restaurant was very romantic and just a stable for families as well. I highly recommend staying here. I cannot wait to visit again.
omg....this hotel is so magnificent. its built into the side of the hill/mountain. the view is the aegean sea. its so clear and blue and gorgeous. there is a little hut kinda like a gazebo that rests in the water at the end of the staircase leading to the water..it also had chaise lounges and umbrellas directly in the water with butler service. just amazing....
"Amazing & Relaxing Stay"
Had an amazing time in Kivitos, Mykonos. Perfect spot for a more chilled out vibe than staying in the town and short stroll takes you to the beautiful Ornos Bay. The hotel itself is clean tidy and modern, the staff are amazing and very friendly. Pool bar staff were the best and nothing was too much hassle!
"Cold Staff, Thin Walls, And Less Than Stellar Housekeeping"
Oh boy, I feel bad writing this review because I'm Minnesotan and you know, being anything other than nice is hard for us :). But I do want to be honest in hopes that it helps not only the hotel management but other travelers as well. On a positive note, I do want to express that the hotel grounds are beautiful, with many areas to enjoy the sun and relax. The location of Ornos Bay was lovely from a visual and physical standpoint...the sea, the beaches, and the close-proximity to restaurants and bars. It's a quieter alternative to some of the busier areas of Mykonos. We were, however, quite disappointed with many aspects of our stay that just seemed kind of confusing to us: Frustration #1 While we were in Santorini before arriving in Mykonos, there was a ferry strike that caused many travelers to be "stranded" where they currently were for a few extra days. The moment we found out, the day before our arrival, we called Kivotos to let them know all ferries had been cancelled, that there were no available flights, and unfortunately we had to wait until the strike was over to arrive (which it had been announced it would last for 3 days). It was, completely beyond our control. After informing the hotel of the strike situation (which they were already aware of), the woman who answered the phone immediately replied with a rude, "Don't tell me you're not coming." Not, "I'm sorry to hear about the strike", or, "We are so sorry you can't get here earlier', but, "Don't tell me you're not coming". She then informed us she couldn't help us and we would have to talk to the reservations department again which opened at 10 am. It was 9:55 am. She said they would call us back at our hotel once the reservations department opened. At 10:10 we still hadn't heard back so called once again and were rudely informed that the reservations department was still not open. Frustration #2 Upon arriving at Kivotos, we checked in and were taken to another room in which we were given champagne (which was nice), and asked to sign a form which just verified the details of our stay, as well as fill out a little essay form about why we chose to stay at Kivotos. I get that the hotel does that to make sure every guest feels special and welcome, but the whole thing just seemed cold and weird and dry to us. That we were awkwardly brought into a room and asked to sign a simple piece of paper that we could have just signed at the front desk seemed odd. Frustration #3 Once we arrived at our room, my husband visited the restroom to clean up. He discovered urine in the toilet as if the toilet hadn't even been cleaned. He also encountered a shave kit which he thought was nice, until he opened it to see that the razor had been used and the tube was out of shaving cream. Upon further inspection, it appears that the shave kit was old and from a entirely different hotel, perhaps that another guest left behind. Lastly, we noticed a gob of brown stuff on the shower curtain...i'm not sure if it was a gob of rust or a gob of...something else...but the state of the bathroom upon arrival was shocking. Frustration #4 The room that we stayed in was connected to another room by a door, and there was another couple staying in that room. The walls were so paper-thin that we could hear every single thing that was going on in the other room, it sounded as if we were all in the same room. Their conversations, their TV, their activities, could all be heard clear as day. Frustration #5 We had an early flight the morning of our checkout and had to depart the hotel around 5:30 am. It was still dark outside, and we were surprised at the lack of lighting on the hotel grounds that led back up to the lobby. It was so dark, that we had to use our iPhone flashlights to be able to guide us on the path. Frustration #6 In general, we felt that the staff at Kivotos were cold and not proactively helpful. Besides the phone call situation, we felt that each time we talked to someone at the front desk we were not greeted with smiles and warm, helpful attitudes, but rather, coldness. When we informed the front desk that we would be leaving early the next morning, and would they be able to help us coordinate transportation, they coldly said they would call a taxi. They did not offer to have someone meet us at our room in the morning to help us with our bags, or to help coordinate an early breakfast for us. We were just so over everything at that point we didn't even ask anyone to. I will say that the man we met at the spa during our arrival tour was the only genuinely smiley face we saw during our stay. Perhaps the staff was stressed and rushed due to complications that arose due to the ferry strike, but that should never be an excuse to provide less than stellar service to each and every guest at the hotel. We are disappointed in our experience and unfortunately will not be staying with or recommending Kivotos again.
