"Queues upon check-in and check-out"
Hotel location is great. My room was ok. Staff very friendly and very forthcoming. However, in this age of digitization it is very, very hard to comprehend, why there need to be long queues upon check-in and check-out at Kowloon Hotel. Peak time is the hotel policy check-out time. I had asked earlier at 11:00 if extended check-out to 14:00 would be possible, but reception tried to haggle this down 13:30, which was too tight for my schedule. So, I decided to check-out immediately instead and drop my bag at concierge for later collection. Bad decision, because of the check-out queue.
"Convenient location, excellent club staff, but small rooms"
The location was excellent - right above TST Station and a few minutes walk from the ferry terminal. My club room was immaculate and well serviced each day. Comfortable bed and nice bathroom. However, it was very small. Only enough room to hang a suit and a couple of shirts, no ironing board in room (you could probably order one but the club room offers a free pressing each day so I didn't need one), nowhere to store suit case (except possibly under the bed). However, the club lounge was excellent. Again, it was smaller than most but the staff were fantastic and amongst the most helpful I've experienced. Surprisingly, it didn't get crowded. A very pleasant afternoon tea was available in the lounge and the evening hors d'oeuvre and drink service in the lounge was good. Wifi was free but very slow for me - although, my colleague had fast wifi - odd. I visit Hong Kong on business a few times a year and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again on a short trip (3 days) but I would consider somewhere else for longer stays in order to get a larger room. It would be perfect for a holiday as I wouldn't expect to spend much time in the room.
We stayed here for one night on our way to Japan and one on the way back. On the first night we had a room on the mid floors, on the 2nd we were 'upgraded' to the club floor as there were no other non-smoking rooms available but we weren't allowed to use the club floor privileges. The rooms themselves are quite tiny, but the hotel is reasonably priced and in the decent location. You can easily catch the airport train / bus which stops outside the hotel. Hotel is walking distance to the Star ferries which was handy.
"Good location, walkways area a bit confusing though"
This hotel is quite old but it has an excellent location and is great value for money. The hotel is accessible from the airport by the airport express to Kowloon station followed by a free shuttle that comes every 15 minutes. The shuttle stops right in front of the hotel. Like most HK hotels, the rooms are small by international standards. However, most people won't stay in the room anyway. The hotel is very convenient for shopping and is beside the train station. It is better to enter the train station via the MTR entrance outside the hotel than try to navigate the basement alley that connects to the train station. The hotel is walking distance to the avenue of the stars, across the road from the peninsula, within walking distance to countless shopping malls. the star ferry and museums.
"Superb location, value for money"
Location is perfect, walking distance to various attractions like Avenue of stars, HK clock tower, 1881, HK museums, and there is a MTR Tsim Sha Tsui directly below. Easy to find food and shopping nearby. If you want to take ferry to Macau from China Ferry Terminal, it's around 15min walk (or take MTR/cab there). Try finding the discount price on booking.com. Got the superior double room at HKD750/night and the room is 20 square metre. The toilet is super clean & well-lit and there's bathtub. The hotel receptionists are nice. There is no deposit needed and fuss free check-in/check-out process. They even gave us the room key 2 hours before check-in time as the room was available. Super recommended!
