"Girlfriend vacation - highly recommend"
Our first girlfriend vacation and it was stellar. The Krystal Grand provided us a great place for everything we wanted to do. The beach is fabulous - the best we saw as we walked the beach every day. The food was fabulous - from the breakfast buffet to the restaurants. Every employee was great - very friendly and helpful. We walked up town several times for shopping and its typical Mexico, but we felt very safe and that was important to us. Mainly couples and girlfriends - very few children The only thing we complained about was the bed. It was the hardest bed I have ever slept on. Highly Recommend the Krystal Grand.
"Not amazing but very nice"
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Krystal Grand for a long weekend of beach lazing. We booked a Super Shuttle for $38 roundtrip (for 2 people!) from the airport and back to the airport. I would definitely recommend as it is a madhouse when you get off the plane and finding an affordable ride to the hotel can be daunting. When we got there, we were checked in immediately with no problems. Our room was on the 5th floor with a partial view of the beach, a nice view of the other side's beach and the other tower that is under construction. I thought it would bother me but with the balcony door closed, we couldn't hear anything. The bed didn't look particularly comfortable but we slept VERY well. The biggest downside to the room was the bathroom. The bathtub was dirty with mildew and the shower head sprayed all over the place. Overall, the rooms could use some updating but we were there for the beaches and didn't spend much time in the room. The main pool is closed due to the construction which sucks because it looked very nice. But the infinity pool was amazing and wasn't overly crowded any of the times we went there. The beach is beautiful! We were able to get shaded beach chairs most times of the days without any problem. There are also beach chair spread throughout the property which gives you lots of options (away from the beach, in the shade, near the beach, near the pool, etc.). We did not do the all inclusive because we are both vegetarians and like to explore. Yes, there are some American chain restaurants in the area but we found some amazing, cheap, restaurants. Natura has an extensive menu (including $2.50 fresh juices). There are lots of delicious taco stands too. I would recommend eating dinner at the James Public House and sitting on the top floor to watch the sunset. It is beautiful and great food! Overall, I think the Krystal Grand's quality reflects its prices pretty well. If I wanted a more luxurious vacation, I would spend a bit more somewhere else, but what is important to my fiance' (yes, I proposed on the trip!) and I is the beach.
"Girls Weekend- great pick"
We stayed at the Krystal Grand Punta for a college girls reunion weekend. The vacation was purchased through Delta vacations, so I felt confident the accommodations would be good by Delta standards...and they were. The location is great, right on a gorgeous beach. Only negative is that the beach is public, so on Sunday it was packed with locals enjoying a day at the beach. The hotel does have private palapas but you still have a lot of people in the water and on the beach. We stayed as an all-inclusive, which worked out great. Drink service by the pool was mostly good- Marvi was amazing and served us well. One day there was a new waitress who was not as hospitable. Poolside food was good- great fish tacos! Drinks were good. Breakfast buffet was best meal of the day. Very good. The Grill for dinner was OK, not great. The Japanses restaurant was a bit of a mess, we were 12 minutes late for our hibachi reservation and they gave our table away, so we had to eat at a regular table. Food was again, OK, not as good as Benihana etc. Our room had an ocean view and balcony. Seemed recently renovated. Beds were kind of low and small, but slept fine. We didn't leave the resort the entire 4 days, but there was plenty of shopping and things to walk to. The spa was great, I enjoyed a few massages with Maria. Note- next door to this property is another called Krystal, the shuttle dropped us there by mistake- that hotel lobby was CRAZY, seemed like a busy train station with people and kids everywhere. I would not want to stay there.
We stayed one night in Cancun during our Mexico trip. Krystal hotel offered a room for a good price via Booking.com The hotel was nothing special. It had a nice location by the beach at the Hotel Zone. But the surrounding restaurants was nothing more than Domonis, McDonalds and Hooters. Of course many others also but they all were in the same tourist trap concept. So we decided to eat at the hotel instead. They didn't have a menue to choose dishes from so they offered us their all inclusive buffet. It did not compare to the real mexican food you can buy in local restaurants. The view from our hotel room was a construction site. We were hoping for a better ocean view. All the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Stayed for one night. Room was in poor condition. Patio door wasn't air tight so I kept hearing a wind noise all the time. Curtains are dates with holes everywhere and weird spray paint on it (see picture). A/C barely works so room is always warm and humid. Breakfast buffet is average. On the positive side the location is great and the views are amazing. Huge beach right in front.
