of TripAdvisor Travelers recommend this hotel
The hotel is very well located and our experience with the day time staff was excellent, they were so nice and helpful. However there were some things that need improvement. First, our room was missing a few basic things we had to call to get--for example the remote for the tv, there was only one glass in the room, no bottle opener for the beer. Second, the hotel could use a serious refresh -- the carpet in our room was stained, the bathroom is a bit dated, the furniture is showing wear etc.
"Great location, unique atmosphere, very professional staff"
Spent 1 night with 2 colleagues - all 3 traveling worldwide and very regularly, we are super positive and would recommend without restriction. The hotel has been renovated with great and unique taste, keeping its original features and refreshed to today's norms. Reception staff present around 9PM this 20 April was very professional and at same time relaxed and of great advise to find excellent restaurant nearby ("Le Poulpe", worth the visit btw). Hotel restaurant seems very excellent but requires early booking as one young chef & team are quite popular. We booked rooms with view on the old port and balcony, which are just great, The room is very well equipped, very comfortable and decorated with this unusual but very chic style - early 60's. Breakfast room is a bit small at peak hour and staff (1 person) seems a bit saturated then, but he fixes the minor inconvenience with great professionalism. Large table, comfortable chair is an invitation to enjoy this very special atmosphere with the other hotel guests. Buffet has all what is needed without being lavish and wasted. This experience was a very positive surprise, we did not expect such a level of professionalism with personal touch (not this very standard service you find in big/fancy hotel chains) and this very unique style, worth the stay ! Will definitely come back private.
"Great Location - needs work on the details"
I stayed one night in a Suite. The rooms are elegant and well appointed. Front desk staff was kind and helpful. You can't beat this location or the views. I have a few suggestions. Common areas need a thorough cleaning. There is dust on the floorboards in the hallways. The carpet leading into the main seating area is peeling up on the threshold. My room seemed clean until I went to plug in my phone in the bedroom and the plug and floorboards were quite dusty. I did not have a balcony but rather a lovely living room, which when I went to open the window there was a used expresso cup with cigarette butts in it; obviously a previous guest needed a smoke. This was kind of unappetizing. I also had a great room service meal from the restaurant - although they were reluctant and difficult to deal with.
"A few days in Marseille"
Loved the location, both for our view of the action of the Vieux Port and for the ease with which we could get to so many wonderful places on foot. Interesting decor, needed a bit of touching up, but that didn't detract from the time we spent. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and we would definitely go back again, and will recommend to friends.
"Location, Location, Location"
Room overlooking the old port with a balcony. It does not get better than this. And such a friendly and helpful staff. The room is large - mine came with an extra bedroom. Not sure how that happened. I love when you hear great reviews on Trip Adviser and it works out. The room could use a garbage can (only a small one in the bathroom) and a bench for a suitcase. Minor unimportant suggestions. Overall this is ideal.
